Also tune your afr gauge that’s permanently mounted to be the same as your tuners readings. Meaning fool around with the 02 sensor location untill they are identical numbers. Otherwise your tunes won’t be in sinc if they are a e tune later on from a log.
Excellent video - I have a WRX STi gc8 with link g4 and learnt tuning off if. Also have an 06 STi, ss V8 l98... Tuning is handy it brings together everything mechanically
Nice idea but I trust sound more than any sensor.. And these never fail to pick up detonation. Plus I can hear air leaks and all kinds of other noises 👍
Hi - thats great. Use all the tools in this video and take loads of datalogs to start with... they will help you understand what is going on in a lot of detail before changing things. Hopefully will have some FA20 specific content soon.... just need to get one in the country :)
How accurate is wideband reading from the muffler? Or how much delay is from measuring from there, compared measuring from 5-10" from the turbo? Also is catalytic converter affecting AFR? I mean measured before and after.
it is remarkable accurate so long as no exhaust leaks tbh. There is a small transit delay but it is easy to spot and resolve. I would tune slightly richer readings with a cat than without to give margin for error 👍
@@racedynamix what software would i need? Ive been looking for weeks now for someone to have any info on that but so far nothing, this is the closest video i have found lol in
Good video. Does your laptop provide a warning when there is danger to the manifold and (relevantly to that - obviously) bits of the floor are about to fall out?
Great content, Duncan. I have a Hatch STi. I've been planning on contacting you for a map in the new year. I'm not bothered about making more power. I just want to know it is running safely. Just curious with regards to lambda readings. Mine has a Cobra quad pipe exhaust. Would that affect the lambda readings in any way? Just thinking exhaust gasses would be looking for the path of least resistance and go out of another pipe? (if you catch my drift) Also, on the hatch, is the stock lambda not good enough to at least get a ballpark reading? I run a AEM Electronics X Series OBDII because in a single gauge it can supply loads of useful OBD ECU information. I have it set to AFR and I have seen it go to 10:1 under boost and 20:1 off throttle (when slowing down) Thanks.
Hi Robert. The lambda readings at each of the tailpipe is slightly different for the reasons you say 👍 The narrowband isn't accurate enough to use for tuning but as a general guide is fine 😎
@@racedynamix I have thought about replacing the post cat lambda sensor with an AEM wideband and gauge, then disabling the CEL codes with my Tactrix cable. Being after the cat and that much further away from the turbo, do you know if this is likely to cause any issues with the accuracy? Would this better help someone like yourself with regards to mapping an ECU? Thanks again
Any thing more than windows 10 and you won’t get anything to work. Windows 10 is the best platform for flashing Subaru because all the drivers and everything just works

Great advice Duncan from a man that’s been there done it and got a wardrobe full of tee shirts! Great work keep it up 👌👍🙏
Haha, thanks! I might need to invest in a bigger wardrobe soon with all these t-shirts! Appreciate the support!
The switch is genius. I did this and mounted it next to my obd11 port.
Duncan, please make some videos about Haltech's Pro Plugin ECUs...

Absolutely.. Tuning is the essential part of making everything work well and safe together 😎 Thanks 🙏
Stellar job, Duncan!!
Love your videos!! 👍🏾
Hey, thanks a bunch for the love! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and support my videos.
The custom knock controller. We used to run a hot wire beer the motor and it picks up any vibration

Youre videos have motivated me to try this out on my fa20dit, any advice on what to read up on, I’ll be using subaruedit

Wicked job Duncan cheers
Hey, thanks a lot for the support! I'm glad you liked it! Cheers!
Hi Duncan, can i rely on the factory wideband o2 sensor on my 07 forester xt for tuning/data logging?
Hi and thanks for the question 😊 Absolutely not to be relied on for tuning boost. Wideband is needed 👍

What about if im trying to tune a Subaru Crosstreck 2023?
Hi. The process is the same but the software is different to access the DI cars 👍

Been throught most of your vids🤟🏾🤓thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Travelmate acer spec? Ram, 4 8gb? Chip i3 i5? Screen 13" 15"? Thanks a lot!
it's. thanks 🙏🙏
it's i5 with 8gb ram..14 inch screen 👍
I have a blue open port 2.0 cable that I paid 22 bucks for that works better than tactrix and is way tougher.
Yeah the early 1.3 cable was bullet proof. The amount of the 2.0 I have killed is outrageous 😱
Could you help share a link to this blue open port 2.0, thanks
Duncan, if you needed to tune a 22 WRX what tools would you use since it seems the opensource will not work on this generation.
Hi. I would use either SubaruEdit or Ecutek if outside of the US 👍

@@robertfox4118 nope, that's a good idea. You get a very slight lag in readings but not an issue 👍

Don’t ever tune your car without wide band and if your serious tuning the knock plugs are necessity. It will save your ringlands.
Amongst many other things 👍👍
