@Subaru FINALLY released a VB WRX Wagon with a manual transmission. Bad news is its ONLY going to be in Mexico! I cant even believe what I'm reading. Japan and Australia get the wagon but its automatic. I wasnt TOO upset with that... but now with this being LITERALLY across the border i dont know what to do with myself. I REALLY want one cries

They won't bring it to the states. Read an article from Subaru saying that only 4% Americans drive manual an are switching in the next few years to all autos.

In Mexico manual transmission vehicles are very common, so it makes sense the wagon is getting it. My in laws are in Mexico and wrx would be perfect for the roads there.

As an owner of a WRX wagon in Australia, if you want to know how massive the boot is... It's 2" shorter than an outback! The rest of the dimensions are the same (also an owner of an Outback)
I like this WRX Sport wagon much better than our current WRX. Subaru needs to bring it to the states!
In Mexico manuls are very common, When i was little in the 90s seeing a late model automatic was rare.
What a torture-I would pay the TR list price for one of these, esp if it was equipped in a similar fashion. Love my 2020 VA but it would be gone for sure.
The Sportswagon is very different than the sedan, quieter, smoother and obviously a bit heavier. It doesn’t handle like the sedan. It’s more of a Grand Touring car than a sports car. In Australia we have a few all in the cvt setup, but the only one worth getting is the ts with adaptive suspension the others don’t have this and the ride can be a bit unsettled. Cheers from Oz 🇦🇺

Yeah. That is upsetting, because if a wagon was an option, I would have immediately gone for that choice. It would have been perfection.
Went to Australia in February for 2 weeks. I saw these running around several times. I was so jealous I couldnt turn my Vb into one of those, so I definetly understand that feeling.
It was sad when it was discontinued in ‘14, I agree with you I would totally sell mine and get a wagon if it gets released in the states. I need that room for all my stuff too, hockey equipment, running to Home Depot and sorts.

as a vb owner, i can say this with no ill will in my heart. the new wagon looks atrocious haha. good for mexico for getting the 6MT in it tho.

my understanding after talking with a seller here in mexico, is that you can use that pre order site for the manual trim, after that only the cvt (gt trim) will be available.
Please give us an update when you find out about registering a Mexico bought car to the US!
Mate, we'd love to get the manual wagon in Australia as well. The CVT is one of the only things holding me back on the WRX wagon we have here. And can't you just go down to Mexico and buy one and drive it back ???
Man, the biggest reason why I bought the Crosstrek 6MT was because Subaru America did not have a Manual transmission wagon available aside from the Crosstrek and I did not want a WRX sedan. Had this been available when I ordered my Crosstrek I most likely would have ordered this instead. I do absolutely love my Crosstrek don't get me wrong but the powertrain options were less than ideal. The 6MT does bring the FB20 alive quite a bit more than the CVT, but I would have loved a FA20T or FA20D as an option, I'd even be happy with the FB25 as an option with the 6MT but that also never happened. Granted I do understand why those options where not available as the market for the Crosstrek is much different than the WRX obviously. It just would have been nice to have something in between. I really loved the look of the impreza WRX wagon of old and I really do love the look of the WRX sportswagon. I think it is a huge slap in the face that it won't be available to us. Hopefully they do decide to release this in the US.
Well that would make road trips and camping amazing...I sometimes sleep in the back of my 2022 wrx and its not great because the rear deck/shelf does not leave you with a ton of room once you have the seats folded down and a mattress put down.
What also sucks is the trunk entry is shaped so poorly. The trunk is huge but it's hard to actually get large things into it.
@@HeavyMetalWRX I noticed that the last two weeks of new ownership. I remember thinking WOW THIS TRUNK IS HUGE! - but I realize it's huge for errands, not huge for projects. Holds a lot of small/medium items, but it's a nightmare thinking you can drop your BMX bike into the back and end up having anxiety about paint scratches the whole time
Bought an 09 Outback XT in manual since the Sti and Wrx prices are wild for 08-14. Tried to wait for Subaru since 2014 on a manual wagon but like everyone else; you either accept it and buy the sedan or move to a different manufacturer for wagon or hatch.
Hello, it looks like you really want one then why not just get it. It’s a left-hand drive vehicle. You can bring it from Mexico. Find out what the taxes and import fees would be and get it over here and bring it her. Obviously warranty is not an issue because you’re gonna be modifying it so don’t have to worry about that. And I bet you your channel would blow up having that thing for content and your own pleasure and need. People bring cars over to US from other countries all the time why not just do it.

If you go into the 2024 MY for COBB the US has support for the TR. Meanwhile we in Oz are still waiting for support for the 2024 models.

Subaru Mexico says this is the only performance estate sold in the country, meanwhile in the US, sports wagons are making a comeback, showing a demand for them! I swear Subaru I'll immediately trade in if we get this model!
Also I keep seeing people say it's ugly, I think their minds would change if they saw it in person, the same way the VB sedan to all of us looked better once we saw them in person.
maybe with Subaru cutting the Legacy out, we'll get a crosstrek xt with a manual. thats my ideal size for a tubro hatch vehicle.

you can absolutely buy a car in Canada and register it in the U.S. I lived in the PNW for most of my life and that was one of the fastest ways to get a r32 gtr when they first became legal.
It's basically the same for Mexico and vice versa.
As long as it meets US safety and emissions, you should be able to import it. I live near the Canadian border and see lots of used Canadian cars here
I know that the GR Corolla already exists, but I’d rather a hatchback than a wagon. Wagons haven’t look good (IMO) since the era of boxy station wagons
The Legacy (BM/BR) and Outback (BR) were redesigned for the American market and became too large for use in Japan. That's why the slightly smaller Levorg was made. I think Subaru's approach is that if you want a wagon, buy an Outback.
Except they basically made it a small SUV. I just had one as a loaner while my BRZ was in the shop for a new AC blower motor.

Plenty of people in Aus are keen for a manual wagon. I also don't get how the WRX wagon is the one in the range that doesn't get the wheel arches when the rest of the suv looking range does. Makes no sense. Also in Aus our "TR" is limited to a certain amount. What is Suby doing?

I gave up on SOA a long time ago for performance wagons. Just move on and don’t look back, I went with a 2015.5 Volvo V60 T6 R design. No manual and haldex isn’t as good, but the turbo inline 6 is great and its a wagon
Did I read that article right?? 48k starting out for the wagon trim and tops at 54k? That’s at least what I read when the writer brought up the Peso to USD conversions.
Yes those were direct conversions. I highly doubt it would cost more than a GT. The current price for a base WRX sedan is $799,000 which converts to $47k. We definitely don't sell base WRX for that much in the US.
Its a good looking wagon but its not a good looking WRX I think this looks more the a newer version of the 08 outback but the most recent wrx hatch we got 10 years ago looks more sporty and like a wrx but regardless I think our market would be better off with this on it than not.
Can we buy this in mexico and bring it to the US?
Don’t get me wrong, I do love the look of some hatch backs like the GR Corolla and the older WRX/STI hatch backs, but this new WRX hatch just doesn’t look right to me. I think the VB sedan looks great and even if I had a choice to go with the hatch version, I’d take the sedan all day.

That's how it's been since '22. In Japan and AU the bumper and arches are a bit different

We can’t import them. The car has to be. 25 years or older OR a car that is currently sold in the states which it isn’t. It COULD however make an appearance at shows or what not, but cannot be legally kept here until it is of “historical significance “ lol

I own a VB and I'm just not in love with it.
It's so fucking dumb. Came from a 14 Crosstrek to a 22 WRX. I just wish I picked up a WRX at the time but I didn't have a choice. Was really banking that when the VB dropped, we'd get some sort of hatch again. It's just so frustrating. Give us a hatch/wagon manual WRX.
I definitely don't want to see sedans gone, but let's face reality as far as demand. Subaru stopped production on the impreza sedan because 80% of sales were for the hatch. So there's definitely a demand for hatchbacks and Subaru is aware, but no such option for the wrx? Why just why? It's part of the reason I wanted a gr corolla over the wrx, but Subaru dealers won me over because no mark ups yay.

Id go to a different dealership imo. People are selling WRX under MSRP. You don't need to settle. Also what's wrong with my voice ?

I emote a lot and when I move sometimes it can mess with the audio. Maybe that's it? Haha idk. Also yea man take your offer and ship it sorundm don't hesitate to tell other dealers what deal you have. You can always look out of state. My dealer ship is offering WRX TRs under invoice to anyone and they will even ship it to your state ( at your cost).

That's only when they directly converted it from pesos directly. It doesn't make any sense for it to be $53k when the GT is $44k and this is basically a premium / limited with a back.

The majority of people who say they would buy that are suffering from "want what ya can't have" syndrome. If that was available in the US market, it would be a huge flop and that's why Subaru doesn't waste their time and money offering it.

@@HeavyMetalWRX yeah that's not a hatch. Maybe if the WRX was smaller. The VB is as big as the early 2000s Legacy and only slightly smaller than my 2011 Legacy GT2.5. the VB frame is too big for a hatch.

@@SavvyRooster13 everyone and different needs. We have a SUV and I hate driving it. If my WRX had a hatch it would solve my storage issue and we can take the WRX everywhere. Plus it looks so awesome. I could EASILY put all 4 racing tires in the back for track days 👀

If I wanted a wagon with and, I would just get a wagon, or more likely I would get an suv. I like the wrx and I am foxbody mustang/c4/c5/1st or 2nd generation viper guy. Point there I was never in to jdm side till subaru. So I guess what I'm saying is no car is perfect and find the joy in what you have and what you build. Also sometimes people try to have a multitool when really you want a fun daily.
The great thing is we have 100s of options when it comes to cars. The reason this is annoying is a WRX wagon exists almost everywhere but here. It's one thing if people asked for Subaru to make something brand new, but its here. It's being sold. Just...on the other side of the border 😭😭
