- I finally got around to making another comments video. Id really like to do a regular cadence of comments videos because it is fun to engage with the community. Even crappy comments can spark a fun conversation. Today I chose to look at my 2022 WRX vs 2018 STI short as this is the first race video I actually made. ITs amazing how much time has passed since then.

I'm convinced most of those comments are 13-15 year old's sitting behind the keyboard after watching Fast and Furious 69 trying to spit out car "facts" that they learned from Rocket League.... As a VB owner, I love the WRX platform... all gens. One thing the WRX has on every other car to me is the versatility. We have WRXs for Time Attack, Drag, Street, and Rally. What other car enthusiast vehicle currently made do people debate "Should I lower my car or raise and put AT tires?" lol. For those of us who play in the $30K-$40K enthusiasts car world, lets not play ourselves, there will always be a "faster" car. Love the content as always Awais!

People cannot fathom not wanting 1000hp cars that can only drive in a straight line for 8 seconds at a time after spending a month in the garage. Most of the people criticizing Subarus for being slow are the same people not realizing that's the beauty and joy of them. They're fast and powerful enough to have alot of fun in but slow enough to not get your ass in jail at the same time. That cannot be said about the high horsepower cars these people hype up. And like you said they can do practically everything. Drifting, racing, rally, time attack and the list goes on. I think the real reason outsiders bash on Subarus so much is because of the ignorant people that buy these cars then subsequently max out the boost then cry online about them being "unreliable"
I love the VB being so polarizing. Beyond the looks, I love the debate from the diehard EJ/STi fanboys that it is the worst WRX to date, while most reviews touting it as the best to date.
That happens with every new WRX.
Notice how the VB triggers guys that have cars that cost twice as much as the WRX? Most of the sh!t comments are from kids that drive their moms Civic.

I just got a 2024 WRX base 2 weeks ago. Got WR blue. I’m planning on doing something to acknowledge the 22b or just go with a classic WRX look. I got to spend 3 years in Okinawa with a 2000 Legacy B4 RSK, but the WRX was always something I’ve wanted.
Hey buddy, first off, hope you are feeling better! Second, people are always gonna hate, and most of them have nothing behind it, just hate for hates sake. Keep up the great work! Also, I was wondering if you could make a video along the lines of something like "Things I know now that I wish I knew when I first got my WRX." Or something along those lines, like, tips for new folks. Really appreciate your time!

I love this stuff, you know that. I roll in it on AWD ARMY and facebook in general all the time. Im actually serving a 30 day ban right now for my replies to the hateful comments. Relish in it! They all just jealous the VB is so awesome so they hate us.

Great response video! Don't mind the haters, most don't actually DRIVE cars, they either are teenage number crunchers or people who tailgate and race at every stoplight.
My favorite comment was on a YT with the E30 Dragy run from BCP tuning. One comment said (paraphrase) "22 WRXs are garbage, what, it takes an E30 tune to make it accelerate like an AVERAGE car?"" the person went on to say how a 2.0T Accord was better, faster and could be made even better. Those Accords are awesome, but the numbers don't come close to a stock VB WRX, especially cornering. Obviously, this person drives neither a WRX nor a slick Accord.
The black plastic remarks about the WRX are GARBAGE. In our garage, we have a 19 Ascent Limited. Stickered for over $40k. SAME BLACK PLASTIC as the WRX. No one cared. ALL SUBARUS are made for rough-and-tumble AWD driving. Be thankful they don't look like everything else on the road. Sorry, the Civic Type-R is no looker either.

@@QactisX actually you know what's funny? I just raced a 2007 viper Gts the other day. He wouldn't do a legit roll a d kept flooring it when I got up to him. My wife was trying to record. I was able to catch him after he floored it. If we did a legit race I know I would have beat him 😭

I literally have friends with stis that have driven my car, and they both say it feels stiffer and faster. One of which is an auto tech and knows about subarus. I own a 22 base wrx.
STi "auto" diff is already 40/60 split. Don't know there's really much additional performance to be had going much further than that. Launching ability off the line is like the main advantage a WRX has is any drag race
From lots of real world experience- most cars out drive most people. Pro drivers can make a Prius look like it can track well lol.

Can confirm my WRX pops if I floor it and I only have STi exhaust.
Yes they pop from the factory bone stock and I have the standard mufflers.
I really like the wrx, but nervous about reliability especially if its tuned. Thoughts?
So far there have been at least 10k WRXs tuned. I've only heard about less than 10 having issues. Some were covered under warranty and some were WAAAAAAY over tuned. If you get an intake and a chill tune your car will be fine.
@@HeavyMetalWRX Thanks. I have been trying to decide between it and a 24 mustang gt. I like the everything about the wrx better except power. Awd is not needed where i am, but always nice to have. Do you feel like stock it is fun enough as a daily driver? Probably wouldnt tune until warranty was up.
@@keithbosher7796 tbh I thought stock was great fun. It's 260whp. If you want to drag race more then the mustang GT is the better option. More power from factory. It's just toa different cars with a 10k differen e. 42k is starting for the v8 GT so it just depends on what you want to do with the car.

Just like every other Subaru engine, reliability is just fine until there’s detonation. If you’re going to mess with air and fuel ratios with intakes, jpipe, injectors, turbo, intercooler etc that have a direct impact on those things it’s very important to have your car tuned by someone that knows how to tune Subaru engines.
If you have knock you gone need a new block. Get a professional tune and then you can hoon
A lot of people love to hate on the VB. I’m down to race any 4cyl turbo with same Mods as mine and in all honesty the only ones that I know might be able to beat me is the Golf R or Audi S3 🤷♂️

Everyone is always talking about how the EJ motor is better, the ej sounded better, etc.. Now i dont fully disagree with how it sounds better, but look at motoiq's video, where he explains how good the Vb motor is. I've noticed just how toxic the subie community is. Who cares? Just appreciate another persons build, and if you don't like it, just keep it pushing
Idk man I ran into an sti today at a red light. I tried saying what's up but he acted like he didnt see me lol. I wasn't planning on racing him but soon as the light turned green he gunned so I did the same and ended up gapping him by a couple cars. When we got to the next light he asked me if my VB was stock which I replied yes 😂 he said the new VB's are fast but I just felt like the torque made the difference.
Most STIs I see don't wave. If they don't I always drop a gear next to them to let them know I see them. Then I just floor it. I wish they would be a bit nicer but I'm with ya. Let em stay second.
I do want to try my luck against a new style wrx with same Hp as mine and see what the results are I do think that new wrx is going to take my sti
Vb are amazing I wanted to trade my STI for a vb cause inline how they look and is a good engine but I’ll probably paid off my STI and get the vb later to have both
My problem with your video was that you were street racing on I-270 north in St. Louis County. You can clearly see the traffic merging northbound from westbound I-44 and they should have no expectation of traffic approaching at the speed that you were doing. You seem smart enough to take this behavior to the track. Your temporary tag was almost expired when you posted the "short" video so I hope you do your due diligence and have a insured vehicles, current with taxes, so that you are licensed properly. I daily drove a bugeye WRX, new to salvage, over 12 years, so I get it. But why would you incriminate yourself?
I get what you're saying but we weren't even going that fast. It was a short pull from like 40. If you know where i270 is you already know people drive like 70-80. Also you drove a fun car. You're telling me you didn't speed on the highway? Also the merging traffic had a solid white line. You can see we stopped by the end of the white line. Which still doesn't give any right to the people to merge if we are already there. Also this was over a year ago. If you follow the channel you already know I CLEARLY got the car registered, I had just bought it when I made that video. There is no incrimination anywhere here. I would LIKE to assume that you never break any rules or have any fun on the highway but you had a WRX... So that's probably not true. 🤦♂️
