Hes seems like truly humble guy. Hardly looks at the camera much as he speaks. But automotive passion is there. Nobody reads spark plugs these days. I learned to look at plugs in the late 90s....still can't get that good.
I’m definitely going to be contacting these guys for some help. My car runs good but it can always get better with advice from awesome people like these guys. They’re getting it done! Great video and cool mustang.
I go 20s and 30s all day long. Its a 306 with an 80mm borg warner. It's not very hard just a lot of work keeping up with the tuning. I hope to do some chassis updates this year and see some 90s. Big John love the video sir!!!! Come on down to Holt here in florida and we will party!!!!
I have a 1985 GT with factory 302 roller tappit motor. What's your thoughts on making a fun street n strip car? Wasn't sure on what motor to build. 302, 351 or coyote motor.
Its another notchback between Camaro's and Mustangs this is all you see anymore. Stock block give props 68' block less core shift, drill 4 bolt mains, girdle it, good for 800h.p+
I split 2 factory block's runnin a 347 eagle crank n rods n Ross piston's with a stud girdle also n trick flow head's n that was a NA car also. Glad to see one run that well.!!
betthat313 - Yeah or he wouldn’t need a radiator right? How in the world does he keep the block from splitting? I know he has to be using a girdle but I would think that would only be good up to maybe 800 HO and he had to be way above that to be running 5.11. He is a real Obi Wan master builder and tuner!
Yes if that's the cam came in the car yes a bcam car had tons of money put in that car my friend build that car an then sold it to another friend yonkers ny
if that car weighs 2700 with the driver , I would be surprised. up here in NJ there were guys running 9sec at full 3400 lbs with a stock 302 with a blower 25 years ago. the blocks split , head gaskets....etc... anyhow, nice job working with what you have
Sounds like a flat tappet and hitting about 7k rpm. My guess off his numbers is maybe 400-450 whp off spray? I’m going for fastest stock block 302 na in the world (352 cui roller block)
Whats in that vw? I Love the 289- 302 motor. Owned a 1970 302 2bbl. C4 trans single exhaust bone stock. Me and my autoshop Teacher did some fine tunning, larger jets in carb, set the advance curve, bigger radiator, shift kit in trans, set of worn tires used as slicks and ran a 13.50 I love the sound of a 289-302 nothing sounds them. I once heard a real race Shelby 289 and it was one of the loudest cars I ever heard, sounded downright mean and nasty. 👺 There is alot of potential in those motors, especialy the boss 302. Pretty much a 302 with cleaveland heads. Would love to see one get some modern day goodies.
He's got balls the size of volleyballs. The early block are better. There's a reason their 15lb or so heavier. But my God that takes guys. Hope he has several spares! And look at that insane pass!
These dudes are right, you’re killing it with content. And I damned near want to build a fox body mustang now too. Gonna stick this Firebird project out though. For now. Haha!
Sorry I am late to the party. That is a nasty car you and your peeps should be proud, you guys are an amazing bunch of craftsmen. can we talk nitrous for a street set up stock block 347 5 speed car sometime??
Ok, that makes sense. Figured he had to be doing something trick. Nothing better than an old school experienced racer. He clearly really knows what he is doing. Good luck trying to beat this guy! Thanks for the response John.
GREAT JOB! That said... Too many records out there. Fastest stock block 5.7 Vortec Chevy non spool 1.6 intake conversion in a Datsun records aren't fun...
John Doc's Bad Apple is a 8.2 deck motor and he's been 4.70s with a turbo but I don't think it's 302cid his might be a 331 or a 347cid so that might be the difference between the two for the record
Light, but not super exotic light. But I don't honestly know. It does have stock brakes front and rear. Has the normal other run of the mill stuff. Fiberglass front, hood, doors, tubed front end, k member.
When you asked him if it was a Mexico block, is that what the 5.0 H.O. were. Ive heard they can’t handle much power, that they crack down the middle? Is that true.
Yes, it is modified for sure to help it live. But there are only two options: stock base, or aftermarket base. Aftermarket put more meat in all the areas that need help, stock blocks don’t have that.
LOL, I have not seen that one yet. It’s crazy how google gives us all different ads based on information they get from cookies and searches. I most get Oreillys, and diet stuff, lol.
That block will only handle so much before it spits down the middle no matter who built it! Just should of got one of the SHP blocks they are not that expensive. By the time you pay for all that machine work and mods to that block, boom you could have that SHP block ijs...
Bottom 5’s is WELL BEYOND the splits down the middle threshold . By definition, it’s difficult to capture a “stock block” record, with an “aftermarket block”. Which, unless I missed something, is the whole point of the video. With those 2 exceptions, your argument is valid.
@@johngrabowski2957 cool my bro has a modified 302 block, girdle top and bottom splayed caps. First time i seen that type of mod. well the top girdle was a first for me😳 Happy Turkey day
You guys and Mark keep battling it out. Haha! I love it. Mark went 5.07 at 137 last week. STOCK BLOCK! So crazy!
Hes seems like truly humble guy. Hardly looks at the camera much as he speaks. But automotive passion is there. Nobody reads spark plugs these days. I learned to look at plugs in the late 90s....still can't get that good.
Man you are killing it. Great content. This is my favorite car channel.
Thanks
Sweet! Joey has been killing it for so many years! One of the original Nitrous Gurus!!!
Congrats on the stock 302 engine block. That's a real challenge. Hitting 5 sec. 👍
FORD POWER!!!
"I BLEED BLUE"
Hell of a pedal job. Thats the softest wheelie landing i think ive ever seen
I been waiting all day for a video thanks John
Can’t wait to see it get in the 4’s. 👍🏻
We have a 4 sec car now look up mark miller
dirtyred racing, Will do, thank you! 👍🏻
No LS crap here all Ford muscle👍🏼👍🏼
I’m definitely going to be contacting these guys for some help. My car runs good but it can always get better with advice from awesome people like these guys. They’re getting it done! Great video and cool mustang.
He handled that wheelie like a pro, and still made a killer pass to boot, excellent video!
thats a wicked ride man .......nice to see you doing that with a ford engine in it .....most people drop a ls in um cuz its cheaper to build
Good throttle control on that wheelie...!!!!
Old boy can drive for real and that helps a ton obviously.
Heck yeah man ford small block power.very nice
Great running Mustang!
I love 302 they work

How much HP you think? Around 650 wheel on spray?
And that block is not filled at all . Good job and congratulations fellas

It's either a custom cam or Anderson cam.

He is pretty secretive on it!
Pay attention guys the guys John is showing on his channel are the guys you want to hit up if you want to go fast! 🦅🇺🇸🦅
Is he running a 2 spd? What's the stall on the converter?

What does this car weigh, if you don't mind my asking?
So the 302 is worth keeping ? 🤔 in my fox body everyone's telling me to switch it out with 351c
What plate does it have???

Hit up ugly kid racing engines on Facebook.
It's gonna be a good night
My boys McGuire Motorsports in the background across from your boy TJ
This guy can drive no fucks givin but yes turbo it pleeeeeeas
Is his 68 block machined for top fuel rings and 1/2 inch studs?
I don’t know all the specs! Pretty sure it does not have hoops since it has mls gaskets
Make some tricked-out custom copper/inconel laminated head gaskets
Am curious as to what he has done to keep the block from splitting. Thought maybe he had concreted the block but I see a radiator. Hmm. 🤭
This one does have concrete or epoxy in the bottom. Water is flowing in the heads only.
Ok, that makes sense. Figured he had to be doing something trick. Nothing better than an old school experienced racer. He clearly really knows what he is doing. Good luck trying to beat this guy! Thanks for the response John.
So stock block means just the block not the bottom end internals. Is it 4 bolt main?
2 bolt '68 stock block. stock block is just block. SBE or stock bottom end is stock block and rotating assembly.
GREAT JOB! That said... Too many records out there. Fastest stock block 5.7 Vortec Chevy non spool 1.6 intake conversion in a Datsun records aren't fun...
Made it look way to easy when he peddled it!!
He did a great job getting it down

John docs bad apple car is also running an aftermarket block
How much can a Truck or car weigh to break the stock block record
Yet I hear people all the time saying sbf are slow, sbf don't make any power. Bullshit.
Do you know the owners name or the name of the 8.2 car that has gone 5.07 ?
Go on FB and join the 8.2 deck mafia page. He is on there. I don't know his name
whats the record for a stock 5.0 block?
5.07
Let me get that block
I thought it was a stock 302 bottom end running 5.11s that would be amazing
Look up ugly kids videos. He's got a 306 running 5.70s or so. That's mind blowing on a stock block!
He set a stock bottom record on spray with a 302.
I thought a standard 302 block was good for about 550 hp maximum before the block started to have issues.
What stall and trans is he running?
Powerglide
Now thats a boy knows how to tune a N20 motor.....damn full 100-0 pedal and not a fu**in pop, bang, hiccup or nothin.
Strengthened stock block I'm guessing.
Where y’all located
NC, outside of Raleigh
How much it weigh?
Light, but not super exotic light. But I don't honestly know. It does have stock brakes front and rear. Has the normal other run of the mill stuff. Fiberglass front, hood, doors, tubed front end, k member.
Cool!
When Chevy boys see a Ford powered Mustang they get scared!!
Steel mains
Who ran the 5.07?
It was a turbo car, but I don't know their name. Think it was in a fairmont.
Probably an aftermarket block
Badass
Is it a C4 trans?
Powerglide
I knew it had to be a older block cause the newer ones just dont hold up.
Actually the roller 302 blocks can handle a good 50-100 more hp before they start to split
When you asked him if it was a Mexico block, is that what the 5.0 H.O. were. Ive heard they can’t handle much power, that they crack down the middle? Is that true.
jcnpresser
Mexican blocks were older blocks cast in Mexico, hence the name. Cylinders and main webbing were cast a little thicker.
Stud girdle
Oh 68 302 block
Definitely don’t need to be changing the plugs every pass
Obviously, the rumor that a 302 block was only good to 550 horses is a bunch of shit!!!
It's not a stock block its modified 302 block please reassure ppl of that
Yes, it is modified for sure to help it live. But there are only two options: stock base, or aftermarket base. Aftermarket put more meat in all the areas that need help, stock blocks don’t have that.
So not stock block ?
Stock ford block, bored and filled with concrete, main girdles.
Beautiful car.. lol
Must have had a fire , coil is burnt
Yeah when he goes turbo he will probably be running low 4s 4.2 to 4.4🦅🇺🇸🦅
That's a very tall order maybe high 4.80's low 90's but if everything is perfect wheather D/A track temp it might go a '79 but that's it
Can't do this with a 511 block sbc. Only ford's make this possible for stock.
Want blue & white flames, his was orange ?? 🙄
Badass but what’s the one food that will raise my testosterone this ad is everywhere just fucking tell I’m I’m not Columbo
LOL, I have not seen that one yet. It’s crazy how google gives us all different ads based on information they get from cookies and searches. I most get Oreillys, and diet stuff, lol.
@@TurboJohnRacing ha yeah every car video I click some shirtless cat telling me about the "one" food but he never does 😂
Factory brakes?!?!?!?!?! My 85 and 88 GT's brakes sucked.
I don’t know, I’ll ask him
@@TurboJohnRacing Yeah, at 1:28 he said "factory Ford brakes and springs". I was like oh hell!
Mexican Block?
Blocks were production blocks, made in Mexico. They had a little more meat in the mains.
Yes l was asking if that's what was in this car here.
