In today’s episode, we hear from a few listeners going through frustration and anxiety, but first, you’ll never guess what Jordana has to do. Then, J&J hear from a 32-year-old listener who is convinced that at this point, she and other women are doomed in today’s dating society. Jared levels with her, but before we let her take everyone down too, our hosts discuss the importance of what you want your story to be. The Awkward Encounter is a confusing situation phoned into our hotline. Aligned with second-guessing from the previous two, our next emailer is dating someone, but she’s not sure she made the right call backing out of a date if it would mean meeting some of his family members. Does that mean they were taking the next step, or is she making a movie night more than he meant it to be? The episode ends with a “Red Flag or Deal Breaker?” about a third-wheeling puppy, revealing a potential deal breaker before the date, and lifestyle changes.

When Jordana announced she’s moving again, I yelled, “No, you have to be kidding” at my iPad.
I'm a dog person but I'm totally with you guys. I had a guy bring a dog on a second date and we had to change plans and the whole focus was the dog. He shared custody of the dog with his ex. He then admitted that he never left the dog home alone when he had custody. There was no third date.

that also means some MEN are doomed to be alone forever. also hypergamy is real. the more accomplished a man is the MORE options they have vs. the more accomplished a woman is the LESS options she has. that isnt to say a woman should hinder her own development and success just something to keep in mind (maybe some compromises need to be made). i personally always wanted a 6ft tall guy (im 5ft 8.5 in) and met a nice guy who's 5ft 9 in and you know what this whole height thing is bull! just one (trivial) example
also, not everyone in a relationship is HAPPY. some ppl are just afraid of being single or have a mortgage together and afraid of breaking that up, etc etc

As a successful woman who owns hers, it is a realistic circumstance!
The height thing is so relatable. I’m 5‘10“ and people (male or female) just won’t accept when I say I don’t date shorter guys. I also then never see those same people start a fight with a short girl dating a random basketball player lol. Everyone should just date whoever they want and hopefully some basketball guy will be left for me in the end haha (I just love bball! not really about the height)
And you know who has more to lose when being single?! MEN. Men are healthier when they are married, they live longer, and they do better at work, while the opposite is true of women. The 4b movement in South Korea is real y'all and it's coming stateside. I have no intention of ever getting married or living with my SO, which I told him on our first date, and he was cool with it. But if I were ever single again, with how entitled men are nowadays, I'd be cool being single with my friends, free time, my three cats, and the Manhattan apartment that I own.
Also I love it when women are like 'I'll only date someone who's 6" or taller' and then fall for a guy who's shorter than that and realize height doesn't matter! Because it doesn't. That's not what makes a relationship work.

As a 35 year old who just entered her first relationship, yes some people will unfortunately be “doomed”… lol let’s be honest! Butttttt you will be/feel less “doomed” once you accept either fate and find a way to be happy anyway! This is truly when life turned around for me for the better. Now I feel good alone or with someone else. Also helps however that I don’t really want to have kids.

When I hang out with my friends who have dogs, particularly puppies, we can't through 1 full convo without several interruptions. Those interruptions always take us into a whole conversation about the dog. So most of our catch up is about the dog. I find that hard enough & tiring too (and I love dogs😂). On a first date it'll make it harder to connect. He is doing himself a disservice too actually.
Puppy wasn't the deal breaker- the Baby Björn was 😆

I had so many thoughts I wanted to share in the comments but until I start making notes one day while watching, know this: I love love love your show! This one is for the books and you guys are truly the funniest. I didn’t love the last episode that much with that couple on but boy did I love Jordana‘s 27. move story (and also the recent makeover apparently …. Liza? that jacket looked so fluffy & chic) and of course Jared‘s easy and fun attitude with whatever comes his way, as well (hit it Jorge like ahahaha)

I'm totally with the guy who invited the girl to the movies with his siblings. If she is that anxious about going to the movies (not a family dinner where she is in the spotlight- it's not even the parents!), she is good riddance. Some people really make drama about nothing and wondering why they are single.
And LOL, because she is thinking about it like this (anxiously?) doesn't make her more grownup, quite the opposite, she sounds like a child who is too scared to meet new people and he sounds like a relaxed person.
Actually sounds like a lot of projecting and defensiveness to me. This person wrote about their own experience and about not you.. Everyone’s feelings are valid
I agree. I don’t think most people would think it’s too big of a deal. It’s not like you have to talk and get to know them exclusively for hours. You just have to sit near them in a dark room. Perfect low stakes meeting imho. Maybe his response could have been worded better.

Not a dog person really but I am a dog owner. I’d consider it borderline rude to show up with a puppy without warning. Not a deal breaker though just strange. Like what are we doing? You brought a baby!

Those guys are going to that pole dancing class to meet women. Also, the guy wants to pretend nothing happened and doesn’t mind knowing she likes him. Kind of annoying.
