@@bicdiggity4710 nice, happy to hear you’re sticking with it. I started bass, as a secondary, or third instrument really, back in like 94/95, then bought a new fender in 2002, played sporadically until about 2010, then put it down until like 6 months ago. Matt Freeman, Tony Lombardo from The Descendents, and Klaus Fluoride from Dead Kennedys have the greatest signature styles. I never knew a bass player can steal the show until I heard their riffs. Very clean, catchy, and creative using just a pick. No thumb slapping.

I'm sure no one gives a squirt of piss, but this song has a special place in my heart. My brother and I (that's us pictured in my profile) were on a long distance trip from Michigan to West Virginia driving non-stop to see our Grandma one last time before she passed. It was well into the middle of the night and we were on a long stretch of the Ohio turnpike and this one come on. I was driving and turned my head to see if he had been able to get any sleep. He was awake and we locked eyes, we didn't have to say a word. We both knew we were on a journey to the end together. To this day I can't listen to this tune without a tear in my eye.

Matt, you're my hero. I've been playing bass for 20+ years, and finally managed to play "Roots Radicals" about a year ago. I don't know how you do it, but I'm glad you do. There have been few "if you pick, you suck" bass snobs over the years that have had to admit they're wrong after I played them my copy of "Maxwell Murder." Anyway, I'll leave it there since I'm just gushing like a fanboy, something I rarely do as a cynical 42 year old. Thank you for doing what you do. Say it loud! I pick and I'm proud!

I was born when this album came out and i vividly remember my older sister moshing with me nd tossing me onto a couch across the room to this fucking song. I was like two years old when she started me on listening to you guys, i never stopped since then! I started to play bass when i was in highschool because of the solo in maxwell murders, i just couldnt get enough lol, anyways thank you for all of your inspiration.

Ok, so I just almost died in my seat. Matt looks like BRIAN WILSON..........and I don't say that with any pine on it. Brian was an amazing bassist. And for the biggest dude in the Boys.......he sang the highest.......The antithesis of Matt. Sang the lowest in Rancid and OpIvy...............Love you Matt, your stepdad was my dentist as a teen.

The insane ease of just moving your whole hand, when I felt like my fingers were flying everywhere when I first learnt this 😂
It just shows the importance of fingering, just getting used to the string positions and getting used to using all your fingers.
Though I don’t play bass right now as I had to sell my sweet 2006 limited edition Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray, I seriously appreciate you!
You are the person that got me into bass, though I never really got that good as I had limited access to my instrument I want to thank you so much!
It really helped me through some tough times 🥰

Through discovering Rancid's And out come album that i know bass could stand out like that on a record, not just some filler thick sound on a record. This album is monumental to alot of kids when it came out, me def out of them.

And Out Come The Wolves is in my personal desert island album list mostly because of this song. I might be okay on a desert island with only this song (except for being homesick for the East Bay).
