@@staceyseward402 My wife is from Taiwan and she never heard Rancid before me. We were driving around today and I had Rancid on playing at a low volume, so we could talk and stuff. She doesn't like loud music, she usually tells me to turn it down when she is with me. Today she took me by surprise when out of nowhere she leaned forward and cranked up the volume super loud! So there we were cruising around while blasting Rancid! What awesome fun that was!
you are young..you venture out rebellious..life eventually beats you back into submission when your older..but the feeling is always there..time cant change who you are
I'm 40 years old and this was the album that got me into punk when I was 16. This whole record is absolutely iconic, hands down one of, if not the, best punk albums ever made.
I was in junior high, and my brother was a crazy liberty spike wearing, Doc.Martin wearing crazy punk rock fanatic and i absolutely loved every bit of it. He taste in music really opened my eyes to the world of punk. I remembered going to jam session and hearing almost every punks, ska bands around in the early, mid, and late 90's I would burn piles of Cd's and store them they keep forever. I was cleaning my shop out yesterday and found the case of CDs. Start listening to them this morning on the way to work. Brought back great memories, and i had to call my brother and just talk about all those great childhood memories. Punk, ska, reggae had a hug impact on my musical taste to this day. Rancid, bad religion, Nofex, clash, DK, Social D, circle jerks, and sex pistol were my favorite bands when i was a pre-teen.
All time favorite song. Sweet memories of high school band trips. The bus driver let kids play songs over the speaker system. I put this one on. Everyone else was confused while I enjoyed the greatest road trip song ever.
Every young person (and old one, and in between one!) has that favourite couple of tunes are are so great. And every time you play one of them, everyone looks at you like you're the Elephant Man :)
Dam listing to them 30 years and it's like I'm Fallin In Love all over again everytime I watch them wish we had more time in the world to watch them for the next 30 thanks

I'll never forget, Vans Warped Tour like 1999 seeing Rancid for the first time w my older brother who was absolutely shocked that a 15 year old me knew all the words to Rancids songs! Good times!❤
Back when pop and hip hop dominated TRL and guitar was dying, Out come the wolves came out and shook shit up! This was and still is my favorite song from this album. Rancid will always be the goat punk rock band for me! TO THE E-E-END!
Agreed. My friend who went with me on all these Rancid adventures all over the U.S. bailed and I slowly found myself withdrawing from the punk scene because not many people in my life share my passion for this band the same. There's a vibe and feeling to it that is just so right. Went to 1 show alone recently but miss just making adventures around it. Their music has gotten me through so much and I ll go to shows until Im 100 lol. Best band ever!
I read somewhere that the song is mostly about their first band Operation Ivy, and the tour and pressure that they couldn’t handle which ultimately failed (started in 87, ended in 89…. Just the 4 of us… no premonition coulda saved us…)

Upgraded to Shorty's 98A hard white 'Doh-Doh' bushings. more about people coming to the east bay as a mecca and realizing every scene sucks, you stay stuck in this shit and people grow up and die, then you're left alone. the last punk
That's what I thought, the years he's saying line up with when they formed and when they broke up, and he seems to sound bitter when the scene, all twisted and bitter (which Op Ivy referenced a lot), churned them up

Matty came from far away
From New Orleans, then into the East Bay
He said this is a mecca
I said this ain't no mecca man, this place is fucked
Three months go by, he had no home
He had no food, he's all alone
Matty said fool me once, shame on you
He said fool me twice, he went back to New Orleans
To the end, to the end, I'll journey to the end
To the end, to the end, I'll journey to the end
To the end, yeah
