New subscriber here Your! Your videos are so helpful! Thank you!
Thanks for subbing! If you need anything don't hesitate to reach out
Very clear and informative. Thank you! I'm not sure if I did something wrong but every time I try this there is a full silhouette layer on top of the outline layer. I have to move it to the back before I can access the outlined shapes with the node tool. It was driving me crazy and then I realized that layer was preventing me from being able to select the individual shapes.
Hi, thanks for the tutorial. Just a little tip. I assume you've got an SVG file there already (the pumpkin). But it would be helpful to newbies like myself if you also show how to vectorize a JPG or PNG image before you show how to break them down ;-) (I just spent a few hours watching other tutorials so I already know how to, but if you dont this tutorial might be overwhelming).
I can do that. I do have a video on how to trace BITMAP photos (PNG or JPEG) in Inkscape on my channel
my question is why to do all of this when we can just use autotrace(bitmap)for an icon that is already coloured.I mean whats the meaning of layers?
You could do that but providing separate layers allows the customer to cut out the orange piece and black piece in this example
If it's one shape they have to print and cut or separate themselves
Hi! I am curious where SVG creators get the original images from that they turn into SVGs (like the pumpkin in this tutorial)? Do you draw it from scratch in Inkscape or illustrator, or with a drawing tablet? Or do you start with royalty free clipart or png files and tweak them ? I can't seem to find any tutorials for creating the images themselves.
For the most part create myself which takes practice but in some instances you CAN alter an image to use as your own IF you alter it enough which is always walking a fine line. Feel free to join the FB group we can help you as everyone started out at the beginning at some point in their design life!!
Hey sis... Svg's exported from inkscape do they open on cricut space... I mean I'm a newbie planning on selling my designs on etsy .... ( I mean I draw using Ibis paint after auto tracing and exporting it as svg from inkscape is not a problem right... my customers will be able to export it into their cricut space right ?
They should be able to open then just fine if you are creating the paths correctly after tracing. CDS is free to download you can check the files on there yourself if needed
@@ShootingStarSVG Thank you sis😊
@@ShootingStarSVG Sis, in the above example if the element is pumpkin...so after tracing I should convert ( object to path right? )
So object to path : of the black outline
Then object to path : of orange layer ?
Both to be done separately or highlight entire pumpkin ( black & orange) and then object to path ?
Do I as a seller have to separate the layers of colour of a coloured design before I export as an SVG or do we assume customers know how to do this themselves ? Or do we do it just as a test?
What do you mean by seperate? Ungroup? Some programs cannot see layers as SVG (like Cricut Design Space) depending on the intricacy of the design, CDS and what not may not be able to differentiate.
ShootingStarSVG yes I mean ungroup them. Should I ungroup them before for customers ?
I created my own design on Inkspace and no matter what I do, it will not save as a functioning SVG in Cricut design. I don't know what I am doing wrong.
Do you have FB? if you do hop over to the FB group - we can help you troubleshoot there
@@ShootingStarSVG thank you so much. I will join the group. Thankfully, I was able to figure it out from another video since this comment but I GREATLY appreciate you reaching out.
what if it's a sparkly complex SVG?
I'm not sure I follow the question. Do you mean with a glitter fill?
