My goodness! I get it! I have been trying to figure this out for a year and a half. I have watched so many tutorials on Illustrator and inkscape and today is the day I finally get it! You my dear you are a genius! Thank you, very good teacher! I hear a little one in the back ground with a cough. poor baby! its been a couple years since you listed this video, I pray your baby is doing well! best of luck dear and thank you!
You made this so clear & easy. I have watched so many videos from other creators & it sounds like Charlie Browns mother & teacher was teaching me. I slowed your video down, reminded, paused & you got me through it!!! Thank you!!!
Let me just say thank you, I am a total noob using cricut and inkscape. My niece wanted a certain butterfly for her laptop and your video made the steps so easy.
Just wanted to say thank you for making my life easier! The lines are not clean in design space, I really appreciate it a lot and not I can change the colors in an image. THANK YOU!!
OMG I was wondering how people did SVG's. i now know i followed everything that you did and made my first SVG file thank you so so much. made it really easy to understand
Girl thank you so much! I have watched other videos and I think I might finally get it. Your instructions were the easiest for me to understand and you showed all as you were doing it. You definitely have a new follower. I just got my Cricut a month ago and it’s been a little frustrating on how to get the colors I want and how to layer. Awesome job chica! Thank you!
Wow. This was really easy to follow. I am a newbie to this and have watched tons of videos on how to get started, only to get even more confused. Just bought a Cricut Maker which I know nothing about :)))) and have to learn as well. I did purchase the "Cuts A Lot" which also have to learn :)))). Needles to say "overwhelming" is not even close to how I feel LMAO. I will follow you because you were so easy to understand. I might need to download Inkscape just to get an idea. Thank for sharing. Loved how easy it was to understand.
Thanks for this tutorial. I have a mac and its sometimes hard to follow along on other videos. You made this so much easier for me to figure out how to do an SVG from an image.
Thank you so much for the wonderful video. I have looked at several videos trying to explain this process. Your video was the most knowledgeable and easiest to understand. I stumbled a couple of times but was able to work myself through it with your instructions. I honestly feel that I can do this on my own. Is there anyway you could do a cheat sheet with all the steps to go along with this video? Would love to have one on hand. Looking forward to viewing other videos that you have made.
Thanks for the video. I only have my Cricut for a week today. I’ve been searching on the internet since yesterday for help with a old black and white sign. I wanted to figure out how to separate the white and black. Tonight when I go home I’m going to see if your video will be what I’m looking for. Thanks
This was an amazing help and took you step by step through the process. Thank you so much for being a great teacher! I could understand and apply it quickly to what I was working on while watching your video.
Thanks so much for the video! I have an image that is already black and white but I would like to add color. When I add color it leaves some lines on the outside white. How can I prevent that?
Thank you for watching! You technically would have less waste when using a shadow instead of outline and no weeding. You will also use the shadow as the base of your image so every layer is as one and less layering to do. I have a video on layering that will help.
after you erase the lines on the bear you go to selector and press3, what do you mean, you press key # 3?? also confused when you made a copy of the pooh outline after coloring completed, you click on the black outline then you did command z which is the undo key and then you clicked duplicate. ( command z erases yours last action) so how did it know to duplicated the outline??
I’m not sure if the app has updated since you’ve uploaded the video. But the left arrow you click at 8:16 to select dropper. Mine doesn’t have. Is there a different location for that?
You're video is awesome, but I must be doing something wrong. When I got to colour in his face/shirt it is a solid mass, colouring over the black outline! How do I get the colours to stay in the background?
Please help!!! what am I doing wrong? I followed along and was getting everything right and was actually excited until we got to the dropper and paint bucket part .When I was filling in the colors it was "over filling" and actually not staying within the black outline border... you couldn't see it anymore. Does anyone know why?
Hi Julie. I had same thing. It was driving me crazy. After you pick paint pail go to your bar and you will see "fill in by and beside it grow shrink by" I had to reduce my number to 40. Hope it helps.
Hello, I love your explanation, but I have a question... How do I put color on the mouth of an image when there is a dark color in it? I hope I explain my self, ex like in the baby rugrats.
Hi i love the tutorial but im having a problem when selecting the image to break apart then union. The other color turn into black? What am i doing wrong?
Thank You so much . I was looking for this type of tutorial every day and after after moths i found your video, and thank you for sharing such helpful information with us. You have saved me :)
I have an iMac running Monterey. I tried to follow this tutorial, but it may be a little outdated at this point. I was following along and am already stuck at where you copy and pasted the image into your document, but then you went to import and said to press 3....it brings up a different menu for me, when I do these steps. So, I am currently stuck at that point. I am new to this software, so I am not even sure what I am looking at. lol
OMG! thank you, as a beginner this video was very helpful and clearly presented. My Sister loves "Hello Kitty". I want to surprise her with a craft. I am only using it for family. Do I need a license 🤔? Thank you again.
Hi - Thank you for this video and it is really helpful. I tried the tutorial with the same pooh bear but I have a white shadows inside the outline of the pooh bear. Any ideas what I can do?
I’m on the part where we create the shadow. I just can’t get that part. The shadow either is on the top of the image or when it does look right and I go to pull the shadow out it doesn’t come out right. What am I doing wrong
Can you help me please. Ive just started to learn inkscape. When i open an image say minnie mouse and its in colour i trace bitmap so i have the colour image and the black and white version. I will then go to path and click on break apart on the black and white image and i can see squares with dotted edges, then click off and the whole shape is then a solid black colour. The problem is it wont allow me to click on the areas so i can change to different colours rather than the original. There should be a yellow circle which i click on the solid black image then i choose a colour. Can you please help me before i go insane 😢 thank you
This is a great tut for those of us not particularly familiar with Inkscape and if I wanted to create a multi layered svg I think this is the route I'll now follow...Thank You. I do wonder about those of us who are using Inkscape to separate layers from an existing colored image by using "trace bitmap". I keep getting repeat elements on multiple colored layers. I can clean this up in Cricut, but if I wanted to sell the svg it would not be what a customer would be paying for. I'm only working with 5 colors, so don't understand why the scans aren't separating perfectly. Any suggestion? THANKS
I’m starting at zero I really know nothing and I’m finding it complicated I have brother cut n scan cm600 and singer future 400xl I want to use Inkscape for embroidery designs I’m not sure it possible can you advise please love your video by the way but I’m a bit disadvantaged with computer skills
This was a awesome video. Your explanation of Svgs was great. I took plenty notes. This was a area that I was afraid to go into. But I think I can do it after watching your video. I will definitely be subscribing. 👍🏾
Ok so I am following your instructions step by step and I got to the part where you click on break apart and I loose all the details on the face for some reason?
Every time I import an image with a black outline and break it apart, it creates an entire layer of the image in just black. So whenever I go to use params, it stitches the entire image in black and THEN stitches out the colors on top. Why are my black outlines filling in??
Please help - I used the exact same photo to follow along but after I use trace bitmap my lines come out broken and have jagged lines, what am i doing wrong? TIA
I would use outline in the search instead of clip art, you will get clean lines when you search for outline instead of clip art. To me it’s just easier to use outline and you can add color later.
My goodness! I get it! I have been trying to figure this out for a year and a half. I have watched so many tutorials on Illustrator and inkscape and today is the day I finally get it! I have watched many vid on how to do this in Inkscape and ur the simplest instructions on how to do it.ty so much. I will give this a try.
THANK YOU!!
I would never had been able to do this without your video! Thank you!

I feel like a rockstar. I'm just starting out and this helped me so much. Thank you.

Thank you so much, I went along with you. This was very easy to understand. I'm thanking God i found you!!
I just started using Inkscape and this video was so easy to follow. Thank you!
I was able to create my own SVG by following your detailed instructions! Thank you so much for the awesome tutorial!
This is literally the best tutorial about this method!

Best explanation so far!
THANK YOU! After daaaaays of trying I have finally done it!
Thank you sooo much. I have been trying to learn how to make svg cut files.. I found your video and it works GREAT!!
thank you, I have searched EVERYWHERE for something this specific and easy to follow
i am new to inkscape and this video is very informative.. thank you for this very detailed tutorial.
Wow. This was really easy to follow. I am a newbie to this and have watched tons of videos on how to get started, only to get even more confused. This was a fantastic video thank you so much for sharing. Great teaching methods.
Thanks for this tutorial. I have a mac and its sometimes hard to follow along on other videos. You made this so much easier for me to figure out how to do an SVG from an image.
Coolest thing I've learned this year!!! Thank you!!!
I feel like this was the most valuable tutorial I've seen yet! Thank you so much for sharing!
I know this is a almost a year old but this is probably one of most helpful tutorials! Thank you so much for sharing!
You're an angel! I finally was able to understand how to do this. Thank you so much!
Thank you! Awesome video. Got my cricut yesterday and was very overwhelmed. This video is super helpful! Thank you thank you 😀
You’re the best! I needed to know the Unify part 😘
Thanks!
Many thanks for a great tutorial. Why do you save the file with all the layers seperated? Is it necessary to have a solid black for the whole Image?
This was an excellent tutorial. Thank you for your patients and detailed steps, the best I've found yet.
Thank you so much for the wonderful video. I have looked at several videos trying to explain this process. Your video was the most knowledgeable and easiest to understand. Great video! This was so straightforward now I can’t wait to try this on my own!

Thanks so much for the video! I have an image that is already black and white but I would like to add color. When I add color it leaves some lines on the outside white. How can I prevent that?
when she is using the bucket notice that her settings at the top says "grow/shrink by: 0.40" That solved it for me.
How would you do a photo also how do i get the whole thing to fill in like you did it fills in but leaves white areas
How did you execute the erase? All my .SVG files show the Internet browser.... Why?
Glad this can help for making a SVG Decal to GT7!
WOW. Thank you so much for this simple yet incredibly useful tutorial.
Thank you for your step by step instructions! This was excellent and easy to follow!
Great demonstration. Thanks for sharing.
Very helpful! Thanks! My only question is; why would you use the black shadow instead of just using the outline? It seems like such a waste of vinyl.
Thank you for watching! You technically would have less waste when using a shadow instead of outline and no weeding. You will also use the shadow as the base of your image so every layer is as one and less layering to do. I have a video on layering that will help.

thank you for the tutorial. is it better/easier to leave them unjoined, like for the face and hands, if you want to make a larger than mat size image?
Loved your video.... Do you only can do this with only a black outline? Ive tried it with words that have no distictive outline but a solid colour.
I’m not sure if the app has updated since you’ve uploaded the video. But the left arrow you click at 8:16 to select dropper. Mine doesn’t have. Is there a different location for that?
I got up to there but then I’m stuck cause I don’t see the side arrow
@@JulesYT-10 Having the same problem
this is a really good tutorial! I like how you get to the point and show us what to do
This is like the best example ever. I keep going back to this video as I'm creating new svgs. Thank you
What if there’s a section that won’t take just one color.. like and arm when I try to color the arm it also colors the shirt the same color.
OMG this was AMAZING! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Trying to buy a cricut. Which one do you have ?
I’m so glad I found this video!! I’m gonna try this for a cup I want to make for my son. Thank you!!
Thanks for sharing this video with us
FYI, if you hold shift while filling multiple shapes with the same color you can eliminate the step of selecting them all and applying Union.
You're video is awesome, but I must be doing something wrong. When I got to colour in his face/shirt it is a solid mass, colouring over the black outline! How do I get the colours to stay in the background?
Thank u soooo much!! I finally learned how to make a svg wih your help! your awesome thank u so much!!!

Hi i love the tutorial but im having a problem when selecting the image to break apart then union. The other color turn into black? What am i doing wrong?
that happened to me, too. Instead of clicking it and then copying, just copy from clipart page , that worked for me. If that makes sense
me too
omg thank so much this was amazing i was looking for very long time thank thanks
You really made this seem easy! Thanks so much for this video. Been dying to try this out and I feel confident I can now after watching!
Thank You so much . I was looking for this type of tutorial every day and after after moths i found your video, and thank you for sharing such helpful information with us. You have saved me :)

Thank you. Great video!

Any chance you have a tutorial on how to make a layered svg of a cartoon that doesn't have an outline?
