Such a great tutorial. Please do more of Inkscape and Canva tutorials. THANKS SO MUCH!
Absolutely I plan to do more in-depth tutorials on SVGs since with this one we just used a premade text element and designs I want to do one where we make our own text and show you how that works :)
Hello Corinne. Thank you for sharing what you learn and know.
Perfect thank you i have learned so much from your vidoes this week i can manouver around inkscap a bit easier now being new to it ❤
This is legit one of the best tutorials on this topic I’ve seen. Subscribed! Thank you for showing how it would look at each wrong step, too. Excellent tutorial! 🙌🏽👏🏽
Thank you so much for your sweet comment!
Thank you! I thought I was doing something wrong because the SVGs were coming out so funky! I appreciate the tutorial on how to make it work!
Great tutorial, very helpful! I've tried to find info on uploading PNG/SVG....but this is more detailed than other videos. Thank you!
Just watched your 2 svg videos, and I wanted to tell you what an awesome job you did explaining everything! 👏 Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! 🥰🥰
Such a great tutorial! So easy to follow! :)
Awesome. You and Angie Holden are the BOMB
Finally hit the subscribe button coz of this. Can't be better explained! ❤
Just ran into your video. So easy to understand and helpful.eager to see more videos!
Brilliant! I wasn’t even looking for this info yet as I’m starting to design SVGs to sell, but I’m glad I stumbled upon it cuz I’ll definitely need this!! You made Inkscape seem not so intimidating!
Thank you so much! This was very helpful!
I did it! 😭💓🔥🔥Thank you so much! Bravo👏🏽👏🏽‼️🫶🏽
A reminder that teachers can get Canvra for Educators for free! I've been told it's got the same elements as Pro. The downside is you can't sell anything made with it. I've been learning it this summer and fluctuate between "This is awesome" and "Why the heck won't it let me...." 😆
A great video to reference!
thank you this was very helpful
Excellent!
Thanks ❤❤
Sooo helpful
Will you be doing a video on how we can add our own text? I’ve tried but using text from Canva and I am missing something. Love your videos.
There’s already one :) posted it a couple days after this one
Hello Corinne, first time I catch you in live
I’m not live but hi!
Thank you! Does this method work for cricut? And other programs for svg? Sorry completely new to this ❤
Yes. This video shows it working with cricut but this does work for other programs and cutters as well
Would this work for silhouette too? You made it look really simplified thank you 😊
Yes any program that can use an SVG this will worj
@@CorinneBlackstone Thank you! That's great to know 😁
Have you sublimated on Faux leather patches for hats? I am trying to figure out the best temperature and time. I cannot find videos for the Faux leather patches. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Love your videos
No I havent
Hey, Corinne! Do you pay for cricut access? I'm asking because I was wondering if it's necessary to pay for cricut access along with my canva pro or if I can make my on designs in canva and use the cricut to cut ou draw them...
I have it yes but do I think you need it? Absolutely not. You can do so much more with sites like canva and creative fabrica for way less
Super helpful, that last step was def what I needed. Is it also possible to name each layer something different vs. the title of the file? When I name them in Inkscape it doesn’t transfer over to design space. Thanks!
Yes I show how to name each layer in inkscape. Sometimes cricut doesn’t keep the names though. It’s a pain because it’s Cricuts fault
Okay yes - I saw you do it but wasn’t sure if there was a way to make it transfer. Great to know! Thanks!
If I made files like this would they be able to be used in an esty store? Or would there still be licensing attached?
If you have the pro account you can use some of the images and sell with them. I would recommend reading their terms of service because it is a little confusing to explain it
I followed the tutorial and it worked great except for the stroke I used to outline the letters. When I upload it into Cricut design space it looks fine, but when I put it on the canvas it's a blob. I turned off the layer with the stroke outline, and it came out fine. Is there a way to upload word designs svgs with stroke outlines in Cricut and have it work? Thanks for all of your help.
I’m working on that tutorial cause I have not been able to get the outline to work at all. It will load but it either isn’t the right size or it comes out as a blob
Wow! I thought it was just me goofing up. I really want to thank you for all of your help today.@@CorinneBlackstone
Hi can you also do this with vecteezy?
I’ve never used something called vecteezy so I don’t know
I downloaded version 0.92 but anytime I open the objects panel the part with the objects is a tiny square at the top completely taken over by the blend mode controls with the green arrows. If someone could tell me how to move the blend mode controls down so I can see what I'm doing that would be great.
There is a small x in the blend mode panel you can close the panel. Then use the mouse and expand the objects box
How do you get the layout in Inkscape that you have? I'm trying to follow along but when I go to object the first thing that pops up is layers and objects and there is no option for selecting just objects. Thanks.
Make sure to use Inkscape .92
Mine says 1.3. I tried to follow the tutorial even though I could find an option for just objects and it didn't have the plus signs. It seemed to be working but the groups fell apart and somehow I ended up with all of the nodes showing.@@CorinneBlackstone
@@r.hcarroll6581 the nodes show when you double click you likely just double clicked you can still go ahead and union items when the nodes show
A really great video as always however, please do not misunderstand me. Why would I pay for canvas pro when I still have to use ink scape because canvas doesn’t talk to cricket it doesn’t make sense to me.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Canva pro offers you a lot of great options and you pay for pro so you can download the SVG not the png. Plus you get tons of fonts and images to work with
Hi corrine. You just touched on a topic I've been stressing over. So I use free canva to make my creations but can't figure out to edit them, l Ike remove parts I don't want. Can I do this as a png (not svg) in Inkscape?? Help
@@vthom5379 you would need to do something called trace bitmap. This video shows that process th-cam.com/video/YBnjaH0zw8M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=s_M17RFOOEtxQ1L0
Can you use this process to make DTFs ??
Yes
@@CorinneBlackstone Thank you! This is still very overwhelming-- but I will get there!
The video is great. I am having problems though. Everytime I go back and ungroup the letters, when I highlight them and click on union, it takes away everything except the first letter. I tried starting completely from scratch and it keeps doing it. I don't know enough about Inkscape to even search for the issue.
It’s less likely an inkscape issue and more an image issue from canva. I would try a different image and see if it still does the same thing. But also be sure every single thing is ungrouped in your design on inkscape
I used the same images that you used on the video. :( @@CorinneBlackstone
@@jilldavis5007 then likely you are missing a step with ungrouping somewhere in the design
After a lot of research and experimenting, it had to do with clipped objects. (There were little scissors next to some of the letters after I grouped them.) I have NO idea how it happened but I managed to fix it. I look forward to trying more. Thank you for the video and taking the time to reach out.@@CorinneBlackstone
Are the steps you mention for Mac users? The first place I get lost is downloading to an SVG (I do have Canva PRO). The image loads as a Word document - a total mess. I do not have a Mac, I have a Windows PC.
This is done with windows.
Having trouble with path to union, When I click union it erases the letters. Can you or anyone help?
If the letters are disappearing it might be because you didn’t ungroup. But honestly sometimes inkscape is just nuts and does weird stuff. Close and reopen the program. I tried to duplicate the problem just now and I can’t get mine to disappear
@@CorinneBlackstone thanks. Will try tonight.
Can you design your own words instead of finding them on Canva ? Do you have a video on this ?
That tutorial is coming soon
Seems easier in DS
If you design in design space then you cannot use it in any outside programs as an SVG. You would have to do several steps to turn it into one and it may not come out as clean as you hope that way. So while sure designing it may be quicker and easier it’s not ideal if you ever want to use that design somewhere else
