You should consider doing an MX or SX 125 since this RS is doing so well on the channel. I’ve just completely gone through my mx and powder coated/cerakoted everything it’s actually turned out to be a really nice little bike
The RS125 series has done okay, sadly not as well as the RSV series 😭 I’m still working through this project so hopefully a few more episodes to come soon but it will be the only 125cc project planned on the channel I’m afraid
@@stoneautomotive oh thats a shame I was looking through all your recent uploads and this little aprilia seems to be doing better than all the other bikes n stuff I was surprised tbf
@@chris2414 it has done well, in terms of views just not for the time each episode is taking to produce, filming and editing each RS125 is taking a couple of days (sometimes weeks) pleasures of being a part time hobby I don’t have time on my side to film these longer restoration projects 😩 All my views have been dropping over the past 15 videos, must be doing something wrong as won’t be worth filming/ uploading if it keeps dropping off sadly
G'day James , I was in Assen 2006 back then it was a Saturday race, but It was the time of my life, working in Germany ,driving up to Holland, and seeing the late Nikki Hayden winning and of course Lorenzo on the 2 stroke 250 ....just mint. Have a blast mate.

Bikes looking great I have been waiting for this video I was so excited when I got the notification I was just thinking you should make some merch I would 100 percent buy some 🤟
Looks great! As a former PSV fitter we didn't use easy outs' often but choose to drill and tap as the better method! as easy outs more often broke and created more problems! If you respray the fairing / seat couling simple silver black with your new c/helmet logos
coming along nicely. I find brining the fork up through the tripples about 4 - 5mm sharpens the steering a tad. This is on the stock rear shock that sags too much. Micht befine on the upraded shock you have
Thanks 😎👌 I had considered lowering the forks, I wonder with the revised shock that it will increase the rear height any way but certainly something to look into 👍
Lift with a platform is very useful ,you could have used to hoist rear end if frame to raise for engine removal and installation. great for heavy lifting of any sort I use them almost daily
Enjoy Assen, been twice. Watch your security there though, keep your bike locked with a lock through the back wheel and keep your valuables in the bottom of your sleeping bag if you're camping. I had my phone and wallet nicked from inside my tent while I was asleep and I've heard of bikes being nicked and revved til they blow in the past. It's still a great trip though.
Hi, enjoying your restorations, especially the attention to detail, may I suggest trying megulers headlamp restoration kit for headlights on the screen ?
Well tbh im not a fan on anything tinted really but was just thinking a very very light tint enough to take the yellow colour away from the vision of it 👍 but no worries im sure i will find out on your next video mate im interested now 😁👌
Retrobright the windscreen. Its not a product its a process. There are videos that explain it better than I can but basically its soaking it in hydrogen peroxide while using UV lights. It removes all the yellowing and you wont risk melting or burning by trying to machine polish it back to clear after sanding.
Nice work. I've got a 2002 rs125 that's a total shitbox. Rusted sub frame, fork seals gone, spiders living in it. Gave up on biking after some bird knocked it over in a car park then some gits broke the steering lock trying to steal it. Looking to get it restored but wondering what kind of price range i'd be looking at since I won't be doing any of the work myself. Bike has been sat untouched for about 15 years.
Thanks 😎👌 It can get really expensive very quickly paying someone else to do it! Guess it depends if you’re dropping it off at a bike shop or someone is interested in doing it on the cheaper cash hobby side! I would be surprised if you found a garage to do it for under 6k.. even I wouldn’t do it again if offered that amount 😅
@@stoneautomotive tbf that's not far off what I guessed it would cost around. In two minds whether to get it restored or just punt it for someone else to use as a project. And put the money i'd spend getting restored into doing my mod 1 and 2 and buying a second hand 600. Some good old 600 going for a decent price around wher i stay. Cheers for the reply lad!
Aprilia is definitely known for just not selling replacement parts. Even the really obvious stuff is just not available anymore as soon as a bike is out of production. Even seals, and rubbers (and chain guides) and all that stuff. Absolutely baffling, and frustrating. I'll be at Assen the whole weekend btw. I live about 30 km from the circuit, so it's yearly for me!
Incredible frustrating.. had the same pain with the RSV1000 😭 Awesome, if you spot me come over and say hi! Always good to meet viewers/ supporters of the channel 👌 (will no doubt be beer fuelled 😅)
@stoneautomotive I definitely will if I do. Beer fueled of course. :) MRA screens are awesome. Made in Germany, OEM quality or better. Have the exact same screen but on my RS50 (lame, I know) but many parts for the 125 are interchangeable. Like the screen.
Hope you have plenty of spare cylinders, I owned an rs 125 and it was the worst bike I ever had. Runs too hot. I was glad when someone stole it. Had 3 Mito's, never a problem. Hope it goes well for you

@@stoneautomotive Ah, know what you talk about. I'm in the middle of a burnout that lasts for months now, with very short bursts of motivation. Take your time, and good luck keeping it together ;)
I will tell you whats wrong with the aluminium, its the type of aluminium, it cannot be sanded, it has to be chemically cleaned, by sanding it you were biting chunks of metal out of it and most likely it was polished when it was fabricated and after anodized.

When I had mine I thought about using a thermostat from the go cart version of the engine, opens at 45 degrees. This may help with the cooling.
