This guy is spot on, ive lived in the philippines for roughly 5 years 12 yesrs in Thailand, and have worked in Vietnam for a few years, Thailand is the clear winner since Vietnam visas are the biggest problem, the Phillipines is the easiest, however if you look at crime, poverty, food, and quality of infustructure, healthcare, safety ect. Thailand is the clear winner
why is Thailand winner before Vietnam in this areas is thailand infrastructure and food and crime rate better in Thailkand then in Vietnam ? Thank You
I’m going there
@@Johndoe-qn9jrYes, Thailand infrastructure is excellent.
I was in Vietnam in 2019 also. And every aspect was better than the Philippines, food, infrastructure, etc. However, I had a harder time fitting in with the locals and you rarely saw any age gap relationships, mainly due to a huge language barrier. So it boils down to what you value, so I find myself in The Philippines more.
@@manueljesuspaucar5951Vietnam top much ripoff.
@@manueljesuspaucar5951 Really? Which hotel was that?
Vietnam is ripoff
you say, "Vietnam is ripoff" and then give nothing to back up your claim. doesn't mean much.
@@Lifebeyondthesea I think you got the wrong guy... never said Vietnam is a ripoff. huh? I loved it there.
Thank you Reekay for comparison overview of these three countries. I always enjoy your videos, this one is stands out!
You have an incredible perspective on this subject. Thank you so much for this comparison! Incredible area of earth.
Thanks - especially love the images - you have a great voice and obviously not a huge ego!!! So many others are simply talking heads and you just can’t stand to look at them after a few minutes!!! BRAVO REEKEY 😊
I absolutely enjoyed your presentation... I spent many months in the Philippines, my main drawer being the low language barrier and ease of age gap dating. But I am now gravitating to see and spend time in Vietnam/Thailand... as I become more comfortable with informational videos such as these. I do appreciate. Well done 👏👏
Thank you for this summary of key factors for the three countries. IMO it was one of your better videos, very well organized with useful content. After spending time in Thailand and the Philippines this year, I agree with your assessment about cost. It seemed the Philippines was more expensive in relation to value and amenities. I am planning 7 months in Asia this winter and I may consider some time in Vietnam. That is great news about their tourist visa stay expansion.
In summary…
Best Hospitals: Thailand 🇹🇭
Best Prices: Vietnam 🇻🇳
Best Visa: Philippines 🇵🇭
Best Dating: Philippines 🇵🇭
Best Communication: Philippines 🇵🇭
Best Beaches: Philippines 🇵🇭
Best Level of Safety: Vietnam 🇻🇳

Thank you for this well spoken and informative video. Helps me a lot!
I liked your experience and perspective of all three countries, very good summary, Thank you.
Great information, I was especially surprised about Vietnam. Once I'm set up in the Philippines, I'll visit Vietnam and Thailand. Thanks
Great information. I think you helped me on deciding my long term plans. Thank you.
Had major emergency surgery in Hanoi at the Hanoi French Hospital. An outstanding 5 star hospital with top surgerens.
Thank you for your informative perspective.
I found this video very helpful. I'm preparing for a 40 day vacation later this year to Cebu, Da Nang then Phuket.
If you want more of a true Thailand experience go somewhere other than Phuket
I would recommend using the Philippines as a base and just travel to wherever you want in SE Asia. English language goes a very long way, the beaches are amazing, and women are very warm and bubbly. Vietnam is amazing, especially the food, but I found it really hard to approach beautiful women and have a conversation because of the language barrier.
Concur, man. Vietnam was not good for girls in my case whatsoever. You see these college girls running around on their expensive electric bikes with pink matching helmets, and their smart phone is better than mine.
I'm doing my thing like I would in the Philippines, yakking up a couple sales ladies. Rather than interrupting me saying "who's with you", they wait till I'm finished talking, then looked down at their expensive cell phones. Haha. Plus they're white as ghosts.
I’m happy if /someone mention/ Vietnamese visa is up to 3 months.
Girl in Vietnam are the most beautiful: white and flat stomach. But for foreigners relationships is hard to be. Only with older with package… Vietnam leaving hotel standard is the best. Transport ok, English language is problematic to communicate, food for westerners very acceptable.
Thailand women are not sick looking for foreigners, but the poor yes . Hotels are ok, food spicy like crazy.Transportation little complicated.
Philippines: they speak English and have some Catholic values. Women skin more darker and mostly fat stomach:-).
Hotels overpriced and the cheaper : mostly no hot water for shower. Food more expensive and not special. Fruit and vegetables expensive and limited choices. Transportation complicated and be aware how to get the bus. Outside big cities no taxi. Flight from Cebu to Manila cost me more than from Manila to Ho Chi Minh/Saigon/ Vietnam.
Okay good luck 🍀
Is just my experience to share my thoughts.
Thank You Very much for your time and expertise to educate us about all these Exotics and Beautiful Asian countries.
Well Done research.
Lovely video to listen to , (apart from some pronunciations 😂 )nicely researched , really enjoyable, thank you.
Thanks a lot! Very interesting and practical comparison!
Glad it helped!
It depends on which country you are from, if you are a Brit like me, Thailand and Vietnam are not good for retirement, the reason being that you will not receive your annual state pension increase, in the Philippines you do. It's surprising how many Brit's don't realise this....
that is important info. thanks for sharing that.
Excellent point ❤
Great insight thank you
I am planning to retire in Southeast Asia and love what you have told me about the three countries and can't wait to visit thanks!!
If all the countries spoke even a little English I'd choose Vietnam. Clean, advanced technology, modern infrastructure and top notch fresh food. 2nd place Thailand. I want to date my age anyway, no more than 10 year difference.
I'm studying Tagalog but it's always a plus to have English right off the bat when I retire there in October
I lived in the Philippines for 5 years and just went back , hotels expensive, meals expensive, everyone from taxis to bus drivers to bar owners trying to prise every last cent out of u , it’s hard work u have to keep your eye on every cent or it will be relived from u, beggers all over the street I even had well dressed older people asking me for cash in Davao just because I’m white , Thailand was a breath of fresh air no scams no taxi drivers telling u there baby needs an operation and kids need to go to school all day every day
More great information 👍
Thanks

This was fantastic. Thank you.
Hello! Thanks for the info. I am from Uruguay and at some point I have thought about going to live in Vietnam with my family after retirement (I have 5 years left). Most costs are lower, of course, in these countries than in Uruguay. For example, the rent for a house or apartment, alone, without electricity, internet, telephone or laundry, would be around $600. Eating in restaurants is expensive, gasoline is almost 20 dollars per liter, for example. And an average salary for a retiree can hopefully reach $1,000 or $1,200. What it does have is that the monthly payment for medical assistance is included in that salary. And, for example, an operation like the one you describe in the video would have no cost for a retiree. In Uruguay there is free, optional medical care and education. A big hug!
I am here in Philliphines and I noticed the price are crazy. And I don’t think I will stay here any longer. Thailand has top notch food, condo and good services in all area. However you will struggle with language barriers.
understandable. had i not decided to marry a Filipina, i'd still be in vietnam.
@@Lifebeyondthesea I have seen nothing that has even made me consider going to Vietnam, and never have a single plan of going or returning to Thailand, PH is my only plane ticket.
If top notch food is being carried by spices curries seasonings and msg, "good services" yet you need google translate, lol, the condos have to be good as they are hyped to be to make up for everything else there that is overhyped and trash.
@@LifebeyondtheseaVery interesting. Is that because of the quality of life? Women? Where would you live in Vietnam? Thank you 🙏🏼

The Vietnam 3 month Online tourist E-Visa you mention (10:45) technically can be extended, BUT the required paperwork appears to be far too impractical for most people to want to do that. Since it was only re-introduced on 15th August 2023, those of us on the 1st tranche of those visas don't need to extend or do a border run for a new visa yet.
Expectations are that the 3 month E-Visa situation will be the same as the previous 30 day tourist E-Visa = border runs for new visas is easier than the dumpster fire of bureaucratic BS and jumping through hoops to get an extension ..... which can only be done once for each visa.
The Sea,thanks you for this awesome video about the three 3⃣ countries they have a lot of interesting things @ a lot of beautiful women,English is very important to socialize, peace ✌
It's not just more fun in the Philippines but there is no place in this world that you can get such human connections, not to mention the English language spoken and the most beautiful islands and beaches on this planet.
Btw, the mountains, greenery, dive spots, and landscapes are SECOND TO NONE!
Yes, but Philippines where? In wich City? Manila? Cebu?

All great countries, but Philippines is easier to adapt due to its more westernized and english language is being used often. It's more convenient in communications and everyday life.
Excellent, very well expressed, much love from India ❤❤❤
Da Nang Vietnam is amazing. Both beaches and mountains, and great places along the river. Cheap living too.
But you didn't say anything about the women.
Not to mention it is close to Hoi An, another great place.
Rains 85 inches a year in Da Nang....
What about comparing with Indonesia women to get married to 35 to 38 yr older women

Yes I'm from Los Angeles California and after 30 year's in the USMC I retired and move to the Philippines for 3 year's and move to Naples Italy 🇮🇹 now I'm looking at Thailand. too live there
I spent 500 a month in 2022 for a hi rise condo in lapux2, gated, guard at gate, guards in lobby, elevator, all utilities, wifi and aircon included found it on airbnb. Quiet, no problems, everything included, nice only 3 blocks from water or a few minutes to sand, resorts $2 cab ride and day pass was $5 for 2 people all day.
yeah all good but where was that? What country?
@@mamagne800That's Lapu Lapu (Lapu x2) in the Philippines. I'm moving to Cebu later this year.
@@stevier3510 Cebu is ok, but the streets are crazy, no one follows any traffic rules at all and just too many people for me. GenSan has newer condos that were $350/month including all utilities wifi, elec aircon, everything, in a gated community I think it was 6 blocks off water and a short walk to pretty good beach, the complex was listed on Airbnb, but many there were also for sale. GenSan is still pretty cheap compared to the bigger cities to the north. You might even see Manny.
I wouldn't go way out in the province any more, I'm getting old, but it's cheaper in the province of course, or small islands or fishing villages out away from everything. The best weather is in Baguio, loved it there and so many young Filipina college girls, but it's not cheap, it's a little more than Cebu most of the time but fluctuates with seasons and inflow of kano tourists and flips from Manila in warmer months, so be warned about that...
If short time, stay in condo from Airbnb, with gated community and guards at gate and lobby, and you want a high floor with elevator so you don't hear all the roosters, karaoke, dogs, fights, traffic, etc. it's cheaper in the native areas but you pay for it in noise and drama. You do you tho, good luck...
Phillipines for family and marriage minded men.
8:47 speaking of appendix removal surgery...I just had that done 5 days ago here in a small coastal city called Phan Rang, Vietnam. I have been living in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam for the last 6.5 years. As this was emergency surgery I had no choice but to get it done where I was briefly staying at the time. Everything went smoothly. No one spoke English but I was able to get by. The total cost of the surgery + medication + a two night stay in a private recovery room was $220.
I was in Vietnam I love it
i can't wait to return. amazing place.
I love watching your channel and I love the way you enplane everything you are very through Could you consider making videos on Indonesia as well, I am considering expatriating because the USA just ain't what it use to be, but you can't own land or property in Asia except for Indonesia from what I understand, and I would like to live where I could actually buy a house and land rather than renting keep up the good work thank you
I am married to Indonesian for over 16 years and we owe some properties there. They are in her name since as an Expat you can’t buy the land which means house . You can buy the apartment though.
I married a Thai, live in a small farming community in Sisaket, Thailand. There is virtually no English speakers there. My wife translates for me. I tried the Philippines but the infrastructure is not there yet and housing was more expensive.
that is small town indeed! I stay in Ubon Ratchithani
All of as mentioned! I have visited all 3 countries! However, I love the Philippines more! When I land in ph, I usually stay in Cebu City for a few days! So Apart from staying in the business hotel in Cebu City on colon street! I then fly to Tacliban, bus it to Baybay, Ormoc, in Leyte, because I have my condo in Southern Leyte! I love the Ph Culture! Wow, has Vietnam changed. In 2002, everyone was trying to scam you or rob you. I've heard it had changed a lot, but to hear someone say it's the safest place they know.
had i not met my wife during a visa-run to davao, i'd still be in vietnam. great place.
The US Department of State gives Vietnam a #1 rating; same as Canada.
December 2023 I was in Ko Samui Thailand For one month it was as expensive as California prices. I also spent a month in Da Nang Vietnam which was Three times less than Ko Samui.
Unless you are a time traveler you may have meant December 2022
Both places are heavily overhyped
Ko Samui is nice but you went to a tourist area and prices are high there. Next time try non tourist Thailand
Koh Samui and Phuket have been expensive for the best part of two decades. The movie The Beach and just general increases to tourism made it the way it is.
That's funny, in Europe the beach areas are significantly reasonable compare to capital and major cities
Well done...Thank You!!!

@LifeBeyondThe Sea. Nice Asian intro. I've been all over Asia. Stayed in a very mice place in Nha Trang with huge rooftop pool and nice work out room, amenities hard to find there, but it is what I need. The two-bedroom cost me $800.00 a month.
Also stayed in a nice place in Siem Reap, that had both, at the cost of $600.00 a month.
For me, the most important thing besides the women is the food and a quiet place that's centrally located.
I just love Thai street food so finding a nice place close by that has the amenities I need, is not a problem. I can spend more on a solid place and enjoy cheaper food. Pattaya and Phuket have a lot to choose from and Koh Samui a little less, because of building height restrictions.
Bangkok is just too busy for me.
I have a good visa agent in Thailand, so that's not an issue.
Philippines definitely have the visa and language edge and pretty non-hustling ( regular job) Phillippinas are easily accessible, especially for longer term.
Cebu, near Ayala Mall and IT Park have a few places that are in my stay price range and a lot of women to chose from, that don't mind the age gap.
The Japanese and Korean women do mind the age gap, just like Vietnamese,
That pretty much leaves Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia and China. Not a good time for an American to go to China. Malaysia is pretty conservative and takes a while.
I think that the prettiest Asian girls I have seen are Thai-Chinese in Chang Mai, unfortunately a very polluted city.
I'm thinking of trying Mauritius. Anybody been there?
I’ve been to Mauritius. Gorgeous island. But extremely remote and I would be surprised if the dating scene is sufficient to justify the effort to relo there (but I didn’t date there so perhaps it’s ok).
I had emergency hernia surgery in Phuket. I went to their private hospital. Top notch services. Had to use my credit card to pay the $10k bill as they wouldn't accept my NYS health insurance card. I've spent between 1 & 4 months each year in Thailand for the past 10 years and I'm just starting to speak basic Thai
Vietnam has great hotel rates, an incredibly beautiful country too. Love all three countries. Siem Reap in Cambodia too, Sihanoukville used to be a great place back in the day, unfortunately it has become a Chinese gambling city by the sea. Koh Rong island is always worth a visit though, easily accessible from Sihanoukville. The less said about Phnom Penh the better 😂
Agreed to all you said, and yes, phnom Penh is a hidden gem

I moved to Chiang Mai 14 months ago, I’m on a Non-0 retirement visa, my monthly expenses are 900-1000 per month, cook mostly at home, rent a scooter and 3 bed/2bath home in a Thai neighborhood. I’ll be going back to the US once my visa expires to get a perspective and to decide where to go next. Maybe back to Thailand or Cambodia or the Philippines or maybe just stay in the US
After you're visa expires, maybe just stay in the US?
I don’t understand how staying in USA is even an option unless you have grandchildren there. It’s a dumpster fire of a country right now. IMO
The cheap and expensive is depend on the current currency. its cheap because the value of money to dollar is super high and others are not much high.
I’ve stayed in both Manila and bkk before. I feels that bkk is more expensive than Manila and it’s getting more expensive.

Thank you for the information Sir! Question is their a V.A. HOSPITAL IN Vietnam?
We lost the war… of course there isnt a VA hospital hahah

Yes
a vlogger in HCMC Fat and Broke said they announced that they are bringing back the 1 year Vietnam visa. I am coming to Philippines next week my biggest reasons over these two other countries is language and visa. I am a US Vet but im not old enough yet to get the SSRV.
Is the 1 year visa only for American citizens? (I’m Canadian…) Thank you.
that would be awesome if they bring back the 1-year tourist visa. even with an exit every 3-months is manageable.
I prefer the Philippines because the women there, in my opinion, are prettier, more friendly and readily accessible.
That’s the only advantage beside visa - yes

Never had any problems in GenSan ph, but it gets sketchy quick south of there...
I liked this comparison and agree with your statements. I wish you listed the comparison monthly visa fee for each location.
I would say safety in Vietnam is linked to the cheaper accommodation. Philippines does have as cheap accommodation but westerners should not live there for safety reasons. In Vietnam every where is safe so you can live amongst the locals at a cheaper price. Having said that for me language trumps all and the Philippines wins hands down.

How about Cambodia? They have year long ER visas. I was in Siem Reap and didn’t find it an issue with English. Life is very inexpensive. Food was very good. Age gap relationships very common. Life the rest of SE Asia outside of city English is more uncommon. People are very sweet, kind, affectionate. Easy to fly or take train or bus to Thailand, Vietnam.

@@selbstsein967how does that affect one day to day?

I just renewed my one year "retirement visa" in Thailand.. I have no money in the bank, just small Social security pension. You can get an agent to give you a one year visa for about $400 usd. So visa is not that hard to do here.
