    Great advice. I lived in Tagbilaran Bohol for about a year and married a filipina and brought her back to USA. It didn't work out after she got her papers completed. Dont go and live there without an income and if you find a filipina...keep her in her country. If she is pretty she wont be able to enter a Walmart without being overwhelmed from others about her beauty and exotic look. A man that has a beautiful woman has the same problem that a farmer has growing fruit on the side of a road.

    good information to think about. I'll be coming to Cebu in February, and I have already set up Remitly, wise, 2 debit cards, and a credit card, as well as an emergency fund. I have listened to many vloggers who have stressed the importance of making sure you have access to your money. the last thing you need is running out of money and can't get ahold of your money in the states. I'll also be using T mobile for international connections and get a local sim card for the islands (dual sim card phone). coming with a budget in tow is also very important and you need to stay on it for at least 3 months to see if you need to adjust it. I plan on western amenities, so my budget might be a little high, but practical. Being single, I'm not looking for a partner, I'm looking for the comfortable living in the Philippines with the money I have. The US american dream has become more of a nightmare than a reality. the average person can no longer afford to buy that little house with the picket fence, own 2 pets, have a wife and 2 kids.

    I have lived overseas and come and go to the States as needed. Lived in Latin America and Asia. These ideas will keep you and your money safe. Here are my thoughts....
    1) Buy no real estate and do not marry anybody. Both can be leased. You can then come and go as you please.
    2) Everyone is friendly as you have money and can help them.
    3) Nobody is a friend, they are acquaintances at best.
    4) Treat everyone with respect and kindness within reason
    5) Learn the culture and basics of the language.
    6) Be extra careful of any expats around you. They want to help you out of your money.
    7) But... have a fun time as many of these countries are full of nice people and you will see and do things you thought would be impossible in the States.

    Having a million subscribers on TH-cam doesn’t necessarily equate to success. Often, purchased subscribers are inactive accounts, contributing nothing to viewer engagement. It’s also worth noting that TH-cam now values watch hours, possibly requiring content creators to produce shorts to boost their metrics.
    On a personal note, I recall a trip to Mexico with a friend. He was frustrated by the language barrier, as he expected English to be widely spoken. His irritation grew when he realized he hadn’t brought any local currency. He refused to exchange money despite passing a bank, convinced we were close enough to the border to not need pesos. Ultimately, he overpaid for a meal, shelling out 25 dollars for something that cost 15 pesos. This experience reminded me that when traveling, one should either embrace the local culture or carve out their own niche. However, some things remain constant, and facts are indifferent to our emotions."

    Let me add a couple more things ... if you're on Medicare, it does not work in Philippines. While you can get health insurance over there, they won't cover existing health issues - if you have a condition, consider carefully moving over there. Also, the culture is vastly different - gotta just go with the flow and learn how things are done (they're done very, very slowly). Many rules just don't make sense to us.

    Fantastic coaching advice. I love the part about meeting women in person vs. dating sites. Also, having a solid financial budge/plan. "Hoping it will all work out" is not a plan. I'm coming over in 8 weeks to give it a trial run for 6 to 8 months. I'm hearing that $2k is a decent budget...but I'm giving myself $3k just in case I'm off somehow. Videos like this are very helpful to help..."keep it real".

      true. but unfortunately, too many men are (a) in a rush (b) have a scarcity mindset and settle for whoever shows interest and (c) don't have very good discernment skills.
      so, combine that with whatever fake info a woman puts in her dating bio and it's a perfect storm for failure in most cases.

    Reekay, if a guy was too young to claim SS and had no pension but a decent savings (access to 401k, IRA money + savings and investments) what are minimums you would recommend to move and live in Asia full time? Talking a bulk sum and wanting to date, travel and also check out Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia. Home base in Philippines. A guy coming today and don’t want to know yours or anybody else’s finances….. given today’s inflation. What is that lump sum you would feel at ease with for a guy in his 50’s?

    Some dating sites like " Christian Filipina" can be a waste of time too. They require a hefty fee and just because it advertises Christian women it does not mean that they are actually conservative.
    Other reasons the Philippines can be dangerous are Typhoons, Floods, Brown outs, Cobra snakes, water shortage, earthquakes, volcanos, pollution, poverty, theft, and more.

  • @mrwonderful612

    I would add to always have on hand some $100 bills. How many depends on your situation. Brownouts, loss, and theft are just a few of the ways you may find yourself without a way of obtaining funds. Most places will have a money changer, but if not, someone will know where you can swap your bill(s) for the local currency; though you will probably receive an exchange rate below market. Hotels are an example of such a place.
    When making jaunts into another country from my home in the Philippines, I carry one (or two) Benjamins for emergencies. If my room has a safe, I leave it there. If not, I fold it deep inside my wallet and carry it with me.
    $50 bills are a second option. They serve the same purpose, but often bring a lower exchange rate than $100s ... and they work equally as well when used as bribes (when needed) at half the cost to you.

After 4 to 4.5 yrs of banking that $, i figure to have approx $195,000 saved to use as my backup $ fir startup n emergency funds. Would that amt, along with a monthly income of $3610, be enough to make it there in PH? Me n my wife are planning to retire in CDO area...

    In England there is a state pension, if you have lived and worked here, paying your tax (including the national insurance tax) on your wages for at least 35 years.
    Then it is approximately £220 a week.
    If you qualify you will receive this no matter where you are in the world. Okay it will be fixed at that rate if you go to Thailand etc. However if you retire in the Philippines it will go up each year as if you lived in the UK.
    Do you not have that in the US?

    • @Lifebeyondthesea
      @Lifebeyondthesea  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      in the usa, a person on social security, which they earned during their working years.. is not influenced by where they reside in the world.
      the criteria for how much benefit they receive is based on their highest earning years and a whether they take a deferred collection age or at an earlier point in their life, with 62 being the earliest.

    So I’m planning to come to the Philippines in December or January for a month long vacation. How should I approach women since I’m only coming for a vacation? I’m not one to carry on a long distance relationship, and I will not send anyone money. As far as meeting women that’s easy for me. I just want them to understand I’m not looking for a long term relationship.

    • @Lifebeyondthesea
      @Lifebeyondthesea  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      "honesty is the best policy." when i was between relationships and not looking for anything lasting at the time, when i would date i would simply let them know that i'm not looking for a girlfriend right now. just like that.
      some filipinas were looking for something serious and so, we had our lunch and didn't see each other again. others were also looking for something serious but figured some short-term romance was fine in the meanwhile.
      the best thing is to lay it out there so that there are no mistaken assumptions.

    Great information bro. You always give us good info to make an informed decision. Can i ask a question? Im wondering what is my best and least expensive option. Im coming to stay for 2 months. Is it better i pay the $40 usd and get my visa before i leave for the Philippines? Or is it better to just buy 1way ticket and a throw away, then extend my visa when i land at the airport?

    • @mrwonderful612
      @mrwonderful612 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Pay the $40 visa before you leave.
      The throwaway ticket will cost you $15 anyway.
      You most likely will not be asked to show an onward ticket upon entering the Philippines.
      You already know you get a 30 day visa on arrival. Once in the Philippines, you can extend your stay with a 29 day extension. That extension can be processed at a LIMITED number of places and costs close to $30; more that that if you want it expedited. Plus, you will be without your passport for those days the Bureau of Immigration has it for processing.
      Get the visa before leaving and you will fly worry-free, breeze through the airport checkpoints, and enjoy your two months without any visa concerns.

    • @mrwonderful612
      @mrwonderful612 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Plus, getting an extension at the airport, if that is even an option, will delay you getting to the carousel to claim your bags.
      My experiences at airports is that you want to be there when your bags come out. Other travelers could take them by accident (or not) and some airport employees like to take them off the carousel for whatever reason and place them who-knows-where.

    I'm confused. The need to find a good woman is NOT a reason you will regret moving here. In fact, it's a reason to move here. And i would put health in the top 3. If you require medical attention, I wouldn't come.

    • @Lifebeyondthesea
      @Lifebeyondthesea  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      what i was saying about point #2 is that.. if a man isn't willing to go outside his comfort zone and approach women directly, in-person... by default he will rely on the horrid choices in dating sites. and more often than not, he will regret it.
      the number of guys who have a good outcome on a dating site are in the minority. meaning, the vast majority end up dating scammers who are fishing that area for a 'rich foreigner' to fleece.
      the quality women are going about their normal routine and not on dating sites skimming over 20 different options.
      but to your last point... yes. men in bad health should really reconsider living abroad as they likely have better health care options in their home country.

So, I skip through the video to get this gist and move on. I know others have complained and you have replied that the AI images are popular. So be it. Just one more opinion. Thanks.

      i understand your own personal preference. i do. but when i began using AI in june/2023.. viewers overall showed they preferred the AI to looking at my same old mug by increasing views by 10X. that speaks volumes.
      i may introduce some general (real) b-footage sometime soon. but it's not like i can just put up photos of real filipinas without compensating them. contrary to general belief, YTube doesn't pay enough that i would pay models for a variety of photos for every video uploaded. it's not even close to being cost-effective.
      aside from all this, my decision last year was to convert my channel into more of a Podcast format. i considered putting one, single, static image for the whole video but figured why not let AI contribute something a bit more pleasing on the screen.
      and so now, here we are.

      @@Lifebeyondthesea I see. Makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, we are going to see more and more AI images because of the cost and ease. And you can't argue with a 10x increase. I do like your content. Thanks.

      fwiw... i do my best to provide the best quality AI images for my vids. others have jumped on the bandwagon lately and, honestly, many are putting out some low quality images.
