    I kind of miss the money aspect, it was grindy, but it was also encouraging to make naturally other goals - cheaper crafts, landing directly on KSC, saving your Kerbals, now nothing is stopping me from overengineering my craft and dumping dead weight (the kerbals) to space after use.

      My thoughts exactly. With no funding mechanic, it removes a lot of thought processes that KSP 1 had. With the new grid fins, one of their obvious intentions was for players to use them how SpaceX does, but if the player isn't rewarded for saving pieces of their craft... why do it at all?

      I also prefer playing KSP career mode (don't own KSP 2 yet). Career mode makes you think about what you are building a rocket for - do you build it with just the ability to complete a single mission, or do you look at what other missions you have available and try to complete as many as possible?
      Not to mention having to build within a budget so your income is net positive and not negative 😂

    I'm really hoping they add in the original career mode. I really enjoyed the extra layer of challenge and gameplay it added. Managing your money, and trying to engineer more cost effective rockets was always really fun. I also liked the precision for some of the missions. It encouraged you to try new things and new parts that you would never have tried. I really hope they bring it back in some capacity. Maybe even improve upon it.

    I think its somewhat sad that you no longer need to take kerbals on spacewalks to preform observations, I always loved taking the little guys out (especially in space) and having them move around, it felt a bit more exciting to me

    The best case I can make for having automation to begin with is to avoid losing your pilots just for testing, especially in a form of career mode where hiring new astronauts is pricey and they arrive almost entirely incompetent. You just end up sending the new guy to avoid losing the expensive progress on your veteran astronaut for test flights.
    Also, I will add that the most important parts of career mode were the restriction of money, where failures would cost you, perhaps enough to require you to perform more menial missions to build your funds back up, and astronaut progression. Losing a veteran astronaut was a tragedy that really could hurt your progress, hence why automation is crucial for test flights in career mode.
    You could argue that career mode made explosions more stressful than fun, but I would say that this is the reason you perform test flights/missions to begin with. Failure can be fun, but the overall experience is enhanced with consequences to failures.
    I imagine we will see what comes up next with the future updates and modes to KSP 2!

      Yes, that's the way to go. Use the exploration mode to unlock parts piecewise and learn how they work in increasingly challenging missions. That's how you master the game.

    I know it might not be a common opinion but I for one enjoyed the career mode in KSP1. Namely the fact that you have to spend money. It created a kind of "mini-game" of setting up ways to make future contracts cost you less money.
    Also it was kind of a way to restrict how much you could throw at a contract. You could throw your biggest rockets at a contract but would you end up making money? It made the game challenging.
    Money plus scientific research gave you a few extra things to consider when doing your contracts and I enjoyed that.
    But like I said. Just my opinion! Happy holidays!!

      Offset a nose cone onto it, that's what I call a fairing, as a cope.

      You can pop the core into a 1.25m service bay, and then slap a nose cone on top. It’ll still get drag, so don’t attach any components to the probe core, but it’ll at least protect the core from heating.

    I think you should be able to pick in exploration mode whether you start either probes or you start crewed. I feel the kerbals though, would send themselves into space before using probes.

    I found a lot of bugs, but one is that when I make my guy get out of a lunar lander, it causes the lander to flip, and then the sideways lander begins to crawl along the ground as the legs are compressed and spring back. The thing took on a life of its own and endlessly crawled across the surface.

      There are 3 science parts: main part in 2 sizes, atmosphere part that works only in atmo, and sink part that works under water only (kerbin, eve, laythe).

      +Lack of manually resetting parts.

    20:05 would be accurate if you forgot to account for conduction of heat between parts. If there is very little air touching the fins to cool them down they aren’t just going to instantly radiate away all that heat. The thermal capacity of that tank should take that heat away at a significant rate even if they are just bolted together.

    I unlocked all of tear one on the first flight, science might be a bit OP at the moment or need a slower progression. I returned with 1129 science with one landing on minimus and an orbit of the mun. Maybe starting with the flea booster or plane parts only would help the progression path.

      Plane parts are awful. Weasley is starter, but only inline intake, no tail until tier 3, same with passenger cabin, wheels are also not quite good placed. Useful planes can be made way after T2, so basically when you return from Duna.

    this update has blown me away and made a big step towards redemption in my mind. I know auto-struts (or "Enhanced Joints" or whatever they're calling them) aren't the permanent solution for wobbliness, but I'm so glad they went ahead and implemented them. It makes the ascent stage in particular feel so much better.
    I love what they've done with the science collection. No right-clicking on individual, tiny parts, no EVA "store data" juggling, and the science actually has a runtime that has to complete, I love it.
    The performance jumps have been massive, too. I'm on a 4070 Ti with a 13700K, playing at 1440p with all the graphics options maxed out, and on my first mission, I was almost always getting at least 120fps. Even with 4x physics time warp on the descent (with a parachute deployed) I stayed above 90fps. A tiny craft with only 3 parts at that point, admittedly, but it's still a BIG improvement.
    For the first time since EA launch I'm genuinely excited to play this game

    Finally something that resembles an actual pre-release of what they touted. Now they just need to fix the UI back to KSP 1 and eliminate the clunky window selection methods.     One mission where I built an Apollo style command module and lander I ran into the no fuel bug (even though I had fuel) but a quickload fixed that. Only to have on return only one of my three parachutes deploy. Thankfully, it still slowed the capsule enough to land "safely" on water

    Commercial goals would be an awesome addition to either KSP.
    Most of what space agencies do is sending satellites to a certain orbit for commercial purposes.
    It would be nice to get contracts to get a weather satellite onto orbit in a specific orbit for instance.
    Regarding science, I really disliked how KSP 1 became just a grind where I was just shooting rockets in all sorts of directions to gather more "science" in different biomes and layers of the atmosphere so I could unlock the next thing to do.

    Manned flight to robotic flight makes more sense, with the complexity of kerbol missions, they would need advanced systems to preform the same with robots rather than kerbols. In real life we started with manned missions when it was complicated, and created robotic missions when we couldnt risk a person, but kerbols are expendable, so they are simply the cheaper option

      Just went and looked, and the initial setting lets you start with up to 500 Science points (Tier 1 needs 1010 points to fully unlock), but you can also give both collected science and mission reward science a multiplier from 0.5x up to 2x

    I went to mun and back in this update without using any heat shield or parachute. It was originally a mun probe mission but I need those science and luckily I have enough delta v to go back to kerbin and land. Sometimes when I splash into an ocean at around 200m/s, the craft doesn’t break and also sink very deep.

    This is everything I have been waiting for since I bought the game day 1 of early access. I'm 4 launches into exploration mode and this is reminding me why I first fell in love with the original KSP. The way science pushes you to try and go as far as possible with the tech you have but doesn't force the player into a specific mission plan is what always attracted me to the original and with the improved graphics and performance (for me at least) in this patch and the superior sound design of KSP2, I now finally feel like I can recommend it over the original

    I mean it's not my place to demand anything and I understand everyone has to put food on the table but.... I'm really not a fan at all of advertisements for nicotine containing products. It's on the same level if not below stuff like raid shadow legends. I'd rather watch two other ads than one for a pseudo vape product.

    Sadly the most annoying bug which I discovered hasn't been fixed yet or has been reintroduced. Orbital lines vanishing due to a wrong status of the vessels. Vessels are landed whereas they should be orbital. Really annoying and happens very very often. If you don't want to mess around with save game files I'd recommend to wait till this is fixed for real.

    I bought ksp2 when it first came out but my old laptop couldn’t run it, so I waited. And then I got a new computer and booted up the game and that was when the for science update came out and it seems like I starting playing in the best update so far.

    there is this bug i found where the RnD just doesn't work. you don't get any of the things you unlock and you still lose all your science points

    I love how everyone at the beginning of ksp 2 doubted the developers because of the recent failures for other companies to make a good game at launch despite them literally doing the exact same thing with ksp1 when it released. Their system isnt changing at all, theyre adding things at their own pace and things are progressing in a very promising direction. Waaay too many people had doubts when really they should have patients

    All the effects are so static and it's so easy to fix and would really boost the visuals. Not that I think they should focus on it now, but it should have already been sorted before release, it's genuinely less than an hour to fix with a scrolling texture... The general quality of simple thinks like the arm not working, this should just use unitys built in IK script to handle the animation.
    Anyway, massive update overall and seems like it's moving in the right direction!

    One bug I found was that the new mission system didn't recognise when a mission condition had been met. I had this on my first launch when it didn't recognise when I reached a 10km altitude. I only noticed this first time once I recoveed the vessel and the mission didn't say complete in the isiion control. Happened the next time I launched as well and was only fixed by exiting and restarting the game. Only happened with that first mission so far though.

    I actually think the state that they released the original early access will seriously hurt the sales of this game. I got it when it first came out and declared that I would never play it again. This update is so huge and made the game actually fun again. It took serious convincing from a friend to get me to try the new update. I hope more people who were initially turned off will try again, and I can't wait for more updates.
