Eddie Vedder has said that the audiences he’s played to changed his feelings about the song. Initially he felt it was a curse that he was still alive and dealing with his biological Dads death. But the audience’s were singing in celebration that he/they were still alive and that flipped a switch for him
I am so very glad you got hooked on Vedder and Pearl Jam also. If you haven’t heard Vedder’s story behind the lyrics. It’s his life story. He’s a miracle man. They are still great thirty two years later.
Drummer #2 was in this video (Matt Chamberlain). Drummer #1 (Dave Krusen) actually recorded the song for the album '10'. Krusen was out by the time the Unplugged special (& Even Flow video) came out (#3 Dave Abbruzzese). #4 Jack Irons (formerly of the Red Hot Chili pepper) came on board in '94. And finally #5 Matt Cameron (from Soundgarden/Temple of the Dog) joined in '98. They've gone through drummers like Spinal Tap.
@@SaeedReacts. Hard Sun and Society are the two stars (IMO) from that soundtrack. Eddie wrote most songs on the soundtrack but corroborated with Jerry Hannan on the song, Society.
This is a live version. They didn’t want to lip-sync so they just performed it live at a concert. Same with Even Flow but they performed that one twice to get all of the shots of Ed climbing and jumping into the crowd.
For this 17 year old,,who had loved the mamas and the papas since their inception, and then, a few years later, being introduced to the legend, John Denver, this GEM, was incredible!
Another wild child of Rock.. Eddie. The band was Mother Love Bone until their lead singer Andrew Wood died of an overdose. Great band with Wood and Vedder. The first drummer from the Red Hot Chili Peppers introduced Vedder to the band after Wood died. Wood was a phenomenal singer and front man as well.
Thanks for your reaction to this song that’s also so important to me cause, cause same story like Eddie. I was 12 when i found out on incident that my violent stepdad is not my father by finding my birthday certificate … so confronting my mum with the certificate I found with a name i never heard before: she said: sorry that’s your biological father, he didn’t care … but I am glad we talked! This whole album was one of the first things keeping me alive!
If you want to see them really raw, you should watch their performance at a record shop before they became famous. If you want to check it out you can find it under Pearl Jam Tower Records, Rockville, MD 11/9/91. It’s 22 minutes long and acoustic.
AWESOME REACTION SAEED!! SPEAKING OF THE WHO, HAVE YOU REACTED TO PEARL JAM AT THE WHO'S TRIBUTE CONCERT, I THINK IT'S ON VH1? PEARL JAM PERFORMS "LOVE REIGN O'VER ME" AND "THE REAL ME" COVER BY THE WHO. IT'S INCREDIBLE AND I THINK YOU WOULD BE IMPRESSED SAEED AND YOUR FAN BASE. CHECK IT OUT, I'VE BEEN ENJOYING YOUR REACTIONS TO PEARL JAM AND AWESOME EDDIE VEDDER!! 😊💓🔥🤘✌️
This is a great video! I'm glad that you've seen the original version now. They're awesome live, don't get me wrong, but they also made great videos. And I for one, loved your Dr. Seuss impression. 🙂
Definitely check out "Once", which is the 2nd part of the trilogy story that starts with "Alive", following the character later in life. Opening track off the debut, and still one of my favourites.
I think next maybe I’d suggest their powerful 1994 appearance on SNL, performing “Rearviewmirror”. Or “Not For You”. Both are wonderful. Their appearance on the show was mere days after Kurt Cobain died, which affected Eddie Vedder very deeply.
BRO I'M TELLING YOU YOU NEED TO DO PEARL JAM ALIVE ON SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE 1992. IT'S BEYOND EPIC. THEY WERE IN THE F*KIN ZONE.!!! YOU'LL HAVE TO FIND IT OUTSIDE OF TH-cam THOUGH

Definitely must learn more! Enjoying this journey a lot!

Eddie wrote some beautiful songs for the wonderful true-story movie Into the Wild. Personally my favorite Ed
I have seen that film years ago. Must relisten to those songs.

Loved that movie and soundtrack ❤
This the first part of the Momma-Son trilogy. Alive, Once, and Footsteps.
I'll listen to this as many times as you want to react to it 😜 My favorite PJ song.

The early 90s alternative/grunge rock movement was something really special at the time. So much amazing music. I wish it could’ve lasted forever.
Great song! PJ never disapoint

This is also a live version. You need to listen to the studio version for the solo at the end. The solo here was good too
Such a good song 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻🔥

I still think the studio version is the best.
