  • When I was sent the files to 3d print this imperial knight warhound titan for warhammer 40k I thought it would be simple. This has been the most expensive 3d printing failure to date so many mistakes were made.

    Err! Did you not hollow the large pieces to save resin/weight?

  • @01oo011
    @01oo011 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Similar thing happened to my warhound, not enough resin to print the whole top part so I ended up splitting it into two pieces. Next major error was not hollowing it and the third was it’s unstable pose.
    That all came together to make a really top heavy Titan that eventually came crashing down. Hollow your models people.
    Now stockpiling resin for a warlord.

    • @battlebrothersam
      @battlebrothersam  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like me and you have similar plans brother 😁😁😁 the unstable pose is currently my issue, I've semi resolved it by literally screwing the feet to a base.. But now the feet are cracking 😂😂 fml

    Honestly for a first attempt not bad. My first "large" print was a Chaos war mammoth (Known as Disorganized snuffaluffagus) and It took me 3 attempts to print the body the third being mildly scuffed and some of his coat was poking out like blades. However, at that point I said screw it and made him work. However, I printed 2 more since then and they all came out a breeze. Don't give up, when you are feeling up to it print off another one.

      Thanks for your comment. That's a relief to hear that it's not just me lol I seen that war mammoth from the great EmanG. I definitely said screw it to this 2nd body to make it work as it's a little scuffed in places but I will do another one but the chaos version

    You'll hate me for saying this, but in the journey along 3D Printing- shit happens!! Night time paranoia of resin running out tends to lead to sleepless nights, getting up to check vat levels! As for assembling issues, it's a case of dry-fit first and checking balance when larger pieces go on top. Action poses are best done one leg at a time (and add armour plates to make sure you have clearances to attach later!!) Study your desired poses to learn what others did first (can avoid blunders by learning from theirs!) Multi-part printing projects are a blessing and a curse in equal parts! Even when I get a stl, before I print, I will "assemble" all the parts in Meshmixer to be sure of scale, prior to printing (it's also a good way to see your pose come to life at no cost...yet lol) At least you started with a Warhound! I just did 2x Nemesis Warbringers at once! (Tip: Never do that because when you finally see the task you've set yourself up with, it's enough to put you off!! lol)
    Finally, don't throw mis-prints- they could be useful for wrecks on bases.

    • @battlebrothersam
      @battlebrothersam  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha your just speaking the truth brother! Lessons were learned from this. I usually use 3d builder to assemble models if I'm not sure but obviously not in this case lol

    I've just started printing my first imperitor titan leg. I think I have enough experience to make it work.... God I hope. Not nervous at all. Thing about huge models is it's just fucking hard to make work. I've printed big, and I've printed multi part. But I've never printed multi part where each part was the full size of my printer. Problem with things like this is just the smallest mistake is amplified tenfold by the sheer stupidity of the very concept. It's a very fun stupid, but goddamn is it stupid. I will know if my first part print even worked in like.... 8 hours.

  • @TigraZ

    make sure to level the table where you put the printer to the micron its very important for big models cause you can tell if the balance is wrong..i work in Mclaren i print car pieces and we actually print them on vacum cause they need to be that level

  • @S1lentJo
    @S1lentJo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Its a nice model though. But somewhat expensive mistakes :(
    Before you look at the Warlord Titan you need something else.
    3 more Wahounds, 2 Reaver, and then you try the big boy. So you can have a full "lance" of Titans :D

    • @battlebrothersam
      @battlebrothersam  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I wasn't a pirate and bought the official model and made the same mistakes I honestly would've gave up 😂😂 Looking at some reaver files funny enough, I was thinking of having a line up of titans similar to warhammer worlds display but 3 warhounds 2 reavers? You mad lad I need to do it now damn you! Although should I do 2 chaos warhounds and 1 chaos reaver? 😁😁😁

      @@battlebrothersam I think both ideas are great you should do both.lol
      It will end in 1 of 2 ways
      1 you will be victorious with the deadliest army ever for the price of a imperial knight.
      2 you will end up on the golden throne dribbling in the corner of the room throwing dice against the wall.

      @@battlebrothersam Making these mistakes with a og model would have been a substantial waste of Money. I'd punch myself for that.
      Technically nothing stops you from printing both sides in Titan form. Still cheaper than og Models but still an investment. Let alone the Time you have to put into it.
      But it would be a really nice Project, i think. If you have the Space for that ofc.
      And not to burden you with even more stuff but optional: how much Skitarii do you think all these Titans need ;P

Now I agree with brother Sam, I've saved bucket loads of money and there's no way back! The problem of most companies that hit the stock market, profits become their only objective and they lose it
