1- remove temptations 2- just get started (do it man cuz inspiration comes from action and not vice ) 3- prioritize and plan your time (to make you start) 4- have some internal independence (you are responsible for your actions and thus your results in the future)
I trick my brain with the following trick: If I really don't want to do something, pull up my phone, put it on my kitchen counter and I set a timer for 10 minutes. Then, I try to get as much done as possible and after those 10 minutes I allow myself to chill again. This worked WONDERS for me because I try to get more done in 10 min than ever before and don't check my phone.
When I see Niklas I feel there is still hope in young people. He is part of few people of this new generation that use his talent... he is not part of a copy-paste generation. You are doing great... keep moving forward.
thats very true about the internal locus thing you said because you only start by using what is available to you to get there. not what is not available, because if we do that waiting for what we need rather than what is available to us now, we will never get started
Point no. 2: Just get started. This is something I agreed has helped me a lot lately. Especially when getting started with writing essays or assignments, I tend to have writer's block where I've got so much things to write but I just got stucked with the first step. So a good tip that I've accumulated over time is that, just get started even if it's some bullshit. Sometimes I even start my work with "God damn I'm writing this essay because I had no choice and I had to start somewhere........" And it does helped me a lot in getting the momentum going, instead of overthinking on how and where to start it.
I am close to becoming an adult which is something that made the doubts "What am I gonna do with my life? What do I really want to be? What do I really want to do?" even stronger... I am Glad that I discovered your channel at such a moment of my life, it has been a Wonderful guide for me and has brought me hope and more courage. Thank You!

I also added it to watch later once the notification poped up because I was busy doing some work but I have just finished watching it now lol 😂 Better late than never
Man, I can actually relate very well to the part of Just get started. When you are in a rut and not have any important work done at all, it really exhausts the mind. Just getting started is a real game changer, just start doing it, will automatically make us motivate to do it next time and this loop continues off like inertia in physics. Motivation is a temporary and it may work for some people but when you discipline yourself and just do it, motivation automatically starts following you.
I am actually lacking self discipline since this May and maybe I am now into a depressive state of mind. I was discussing about self discipline in my friend circle a lot today and not got any answers why I am lacking that. And Co incidently today Niklas posted this amazing video. 🔥❤️
I love the way Niklas structures his videos - from the script to the details in each scene. We must admit he is super talented, smart and well organised. We can definitely learn and get inspired from him. And simply stop making excuses.. something which blocks me pretty frequently 😕. Let’s get things DONE ✅ and support Niklas 🙂!
Honestly, this was one of the best engaging videos for me to take action! When you said "don't wait to feel inspired or motivated to take action, you take action to feel inspired or motivated", that line really hit me and it stuck so well! I have been having procrastination and an overwhelming rut this week and your videos brought me back to life! Thank you so so much!!
I find this particular quote the only thing that keeps me going and i have finally mastered self discipline. "Its about what you want now and what you want the most."
I have my final exams tomorrow and i came to TH-cam after saying “noo I’ll just review the lessons tomorrow “ andd this video CHANGED it!! I’m so thankful for coming across your channel. Thank you so much. Keep on going. Love your work so much💯🔥
When you said that a way to overcome resistance is to "lean into it" or to confront and push through it, it reminds me of how I deal with a lot of my problems. I think it's also a good way to deal with problems too- to confront them and push through them. Back then I may have ignored or avoided the fear or the problem, whether that would be being afraid of the dark (as a child and sometimes still now lol), a big assignment coming up, a personal challenge I had to face (like talking with people or making amends), or etc.; I could've ignored it and distracted myself from it, but I knew that by doing so I would never fix anything or help overcome the fear- I was just delaying it. I knew that the only way to truly overcome my fears and setbacks was to confront and face them, not only physically, but mentally. For example, with my fear of social interaction- of making mistakes, looking stupid or just being awkward- a lot of times I could've just avoided it completely (by avoiding people, etc.), but that would never help me overcome my fear of "stage fright" or overcome my not-so-good social skills- I wouldn't grow or change. How I dealt with it (and other challenges) was to pretty much stare the fear in the face: I would go out of my comfort zone to talk to people, I would get rid of the negative thoughts and fears in my mind of "what if's" and of failure and I would just have an open mind (and yes even though not all situations/outcomes were a success, I got better and less afraid over time). Instead of being afraid and shy, I chose to have courage and to be open to conversation, I would try my best to be someone who could carry a conversation and to be someone you could talk to; instead of avoiding people all the time, sometimes I would put myself out there and talk to someone (to get to know their name, etc.) and to always be open to conversation if someone else came to me. I have done this with other problems/fears I deal with, like with the fear of failing. Yes I could fail, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't ever give whatever I'm doing it a try, or get back up when I do- a lot of times I will fail: but that's nothing to fear, but instead something to use it to build off of and to grow. This approach may not work with all things, but it definitely has worked in some cases for me.
Honestly this is one of my favorite youtube channels ever because I have so many dreams but have such a hard time getting motivated to get them accomplished and the fact that you are here making these videos is just... ahh I'm so grateful thank you :D
Thank you so much for this video. I'm about to go off to college, and after receiving a lot of college rejections, I detached from my daily routine when I was already procastinating a lot. After I recovered, I kept telling myself "I will practice piano tomorrow. I will wait for the right time. I will go out and exercise when I'm feeling fine." Especially when my dad makes me do stuff, I just blame it on him for eating my time away, so that I don't have any time to do anything for myself. WHile sometimes, this is true when the task he assigns takes up to hours, but sometimes it's just an hour. It never occurred to me that I should just do it despite all these distractions, so right now, I'm just gonna go practice some piano. I can't believe how I put it down for so long. I used to be so disciplined on practicing it.
Normally, I don't watch this kinds of videos, but boy, after watching some of your videos, I fell in love with yo- I fell in love with your cinematography and the paradise you live in. You're really great at filming videos, I swear.
At this very moment I have a project due today. I knew about it since last week. BUT per usual....I have procrastinated. Now I have to REALLY buckle down and get it done. Thanks for making this!
Wow! You are so right!! I always postponed all of my works and personal projects just because I found at some escenarios that it wouldn’t fit for doing it that day! And the way you are portraying self discipline as sometime that you should force yourself to do it is just awesome! No magic tricks, No cheap solutions, and no excuses, if you want to do it, JUST DO IT, what are you waiting up?? GO FOR IT!!!
I have to say there couldn't be a better moment for TH-cam to recommend your channel to me. I need some motivation and inspiration to stop procrastinating everything, and take things in my own hands, avoid all distractions and use my time for more productive activities rather than social media. Thanks man, keep posting, love the content I see. 👍
The 4th point is worth its weight in gold. Switching your mindset to having an internal locus of control almost makes you instantly shed away all the excuses. Powerful stuff. Thank you
I really needed this today. I have been feeling very off for the last month and putting all my blame on the situation I'm in rather than my own mindset. Thank you Niklas!

Hey Niklas, ich wollte einfach mal danke sagen für deine Videos. Ich befinde mich gerade in einem "Tief" und deine Videos helfen mir echt wieder heraus zu kommen.
Good one, been following you since you dare yourself on FPV. You made hobbies into passion and become one of the best example for new generations to be independent, motivated, and stay positive in this career. Keep on the adrenaline! Love from Malaysia 🇲🇾
Congrats to Niklas, who is such a great motivator and filmmaker who has not posted a new video in a year, yet his library of videos has grown his subscribers from 600K subs to 900K subs in a year. I think he said he was taking a break to work on some online course creation!
Just love it, it was like this video was made for me to actually make me stop procrastinating every other thing in my life!!will definitely try to improve the way I deal with my excuses THANK YOU

"Resistance is a universal force that has one sole mission: to keep things as they are. It is the force that will stop an individual's creative activity through any means necessary, whether it be rationalising, inspiring fear and anxiety, emphasising other distractions that require attention, raising the voice of an inner critic, and much more." - Steven Pressfield "The War Of Art" "Amateurs wait for inspiration to strike, while the pros get up and get to work." - Harvey Mackay
Honestly an incredible role model. And is it only me who is interested in seeing a video of how this guy seems so happy, relaxed, and easygoing in all his videos? I want to embody that energy lol I’m just mad stressed and tired most of the time even when in my element
Where are you man? It's been so long you haven't posted any video.. We miss you.. you were the reason for motivation and better life Come back soon. Atleast leave a message that you are alright.
Bro, you can't believe but the impact of your words and your videos on myself are unbelievable!!!! I just love all of your videos. You are the best motivator for me. Thanks a lot for this type of videos.❤️❤️❤️❤️
I wish some day someone would just make a video about that It's OK to procrastinate at times. Everyone is so obsessed with this productivity nowadays. I am not against self discipline at all. I am not for giving into your every little lazy moment. All I am saying is that there's nothing wrong about just taking a break sometimes and letting yourself "be lazy". I strongly believe that those little "being lazy" downtime, idle periods are actually critical for your creative abilities. It's like running, rest days actually store up your energy and rest your muscles, and then you are keen to run again. I do strongly agree with you, though, about cutting yourself off from digital distractions, it's so mind polluting at times.
Thanks Lots @Niklas Christl. Words can't explain how much you are helping me. Just thanks. Started my Dopamine Detox 3 days ago, and I just feel like your channel is my new home.
This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my TH-cam channel 2 months ago about self development. Now I have 169 subs and almost 80 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I couldn’t have learned without getting started in the 1st place.
Great stuff Niklas!! Best explanation, motivation, and storytelling on youtube. Keep it up man your going places, and the best part is your taking people with you!
Hello Sir, I'm a high school student who wants to become a doctor but for the past two years has done absolutely nothing related to studies at the most crucial time of my life. I currently have only about 80 days left for my "D-Day" to come, an exam for the medical entrance and even though I had my mind set on studying for a few months now, I still hadn't been able to start. I did get rid of media, even got a new TH-cam account just so I could get rid of distracting recommendations, but nothing helped.... until I saw this video. I never thought just a week of following your tips would be so helpful, to the fact that I would come back just to thank you! I know for sure, at the rate I'm going I'll be a med student by the end of this year. God bless you and thank you so much!! PS: You have a wonderful voice that kept me captivated in your speech :D
Awesome video, helped me a lot, I realized that I actually do some of those things, but now I have more extra solutions which I have not considered. One quick advice, avoid saying "I'll do it later" phrase. There are 2 options - do the thing now or set a time when you do it. With that, you killed your procrastination :D
Hey- I was studying and but then started watching your videos but this video made me aware that actually your videos are getting in between my goals as a resistance going back to study and not watching your videos anymore . Thanks for letting me know . See ya someday
Bro you’re my new favorite channel. Incredibly well thought out and organized. I love your edits, b roll, animations, and music! Do you mind me asking where you get your animations for text and quotes?
I saw the "Call Barrack Obama " part lol ..... I can't believe am binge watching your videos. You are definitely one of the few top young TH-camrs making amazing and relatable content. Eagerly waiting to see how the Course Turns out. Meanwhile am back to learning as I take notes.
After watching a few dopamine detoxing videos, i have been able to really get my homework done and sleep much earlier, and like just not be as lazy, this is game and life changing.
when your about to crack on with some editing and then start watching this video, pretty ironic haha! the editing again is unreal man, really love the voiceovers and story telling you are implementing in recent videos!
Honestly you hit all those untapped realities of young entrepreneurs. Am grateful of the awareness and channeling each of your videos bring. Keep them coming bruv :)
Absolutely amazing content yet once again, Niklas. I like to see how you keep raising the bar and surpassing it. It'd be great to meet you in person on my next trip to Mallorca.
The main reason we don't want to do anything is that we start thinking about the pain of the project. We start to create excuses, and we start to believe them too. What has worked for me is telling myself, "What can we do right now? I mean it might be a 1/4 of the work or perhaps only 5 minutes of it. Is that ok?" This encourages me, and I soon start to see that there is more to me than I previously believed.
hey ! Niklas , namaste from India , your dopamine detox and this video is helping me so much for improving myself. please make more videos on self development, thank you for everything
Hey Niklas, I want to say thank you for the videos. The detox ones, find your passion, create the routine, discipline, all of them... I was looking for the sames things that you do and say in the videos for my life, and you have construct it so well...in a way that i've would't done it for my self. Thank you, it helps me so much!!! Congrats for you!
Niklas: "I spent many days staring at the blank cursor trying to start writing a video script and I just couldn't do" And then Niklas: "I'll make a video about that!"
You are my inspiration. From dopamine detox to self discipline all of your videos are great and beneficial for everybody. I am from Kolkata, India and creators like you are not present in India and you are such an inspiration. Hope you will continue to make this kind of great videos in the future. If anybody reading this comment from India please reply as I want to know how many Indians have discovered this great creator.
Having ADD for the past few years has made it just difficult for me to achieve me dreams....But I've been watching a lot of these self discipline videos lately and literally,I've learnt a lot and I need say that till now your video has been the most detailed and comprehensive...So..Thanks Alot Mate
I start to watch your videos for a couple of days and I can say that you are one of the best youtuber for editing quality and video contents! Good job Niklas!
This is hard when you have a disorder of adhd. Its possible but it takes more time and focus. I can sit for hours and doesn't know what to do because of the anxiety takes over. A fear of failure. A fear, that's not created by me. My point is - no matter the time, don't beat up on yourself. Treat yourself as you would treat your very best friend. Period!

This is by far the best channel for upcoming content creators. That’s it.. I’m done procrastinating let’s do it!
your videos change my life more than every book i read and every thing that school thought me! Thanks man
"As our attention became new currency in the modern world" I stopped there to drop a comment.
You are so creative and thoughtful.
🇮🇳👍💐💌
I pretty much agree with this video. It is all about you and only you, change comes most of the time by your own actions
Just love it, it was like this video was made for me to actually make me stop procrastinating every other thing in my life!!will definitely try to improve the way I deal with my excuses THANK YOU
diamon is formed pressure as such you've to go through the pain, hardships, challenges and be aware, feel all of them, don't complain in the end you get mentally strong, more discipined. There's no shortcut just DO it.
You're an inspiration dude! AMAZING CONTENT
"Resistance is a universal force that has one sole mission: to keep things as they are. It is the force that will stop an individual's creative activity through any means necessary, whether it be rationalising, inspiring fear and anxiety, emphasising other distractions that require attention, raising the voice of an inner critic, and much more." - Steven Pressfield "The War Of Art"
"Amateurs wait for inspiration to strike, while the pros get up and get to work." - Harvey Mackay
Honestly an incredible role model. And is it only me who is interested in seeing a video of how this guy seems so happy, relaxed, and easygoing in all his videos? I want to embody that energy lol I’m just mad stressed and tired most of the time even when in my element
Niklas is changing my life for the good
This was the exact video I needed coz I have lost my motivation for the past few days. Thanks, NIKLAS for this.
Love your videos
Where are you man? It's been so long you haven't posted any video..
We miss you.. you were the reason for motivation and better life

Niklas, we need this videos more so please keep us posted this kind of videos 🙏🔴

Anybody else watching this instead of working?
Your videos give me a lot of motivation and inspiration. THANKS

#4 may be the Number 1 factor, really inspiring. I felt like I was listening to my own thoughts. Great work!! 👍

Just get started is the killer point in self discipline.
Really enjoy your videos and your energy. You should create a series where you learn a new skill and take it step by step, would be really cool!
Is that ok?"
This encourages me, and I soon start to see that there is more to me than I previously believed.
Learned a lot❤️ helps me to get started and refocus on my goals. Big help to my business. Million thanks Niklas
Excellent video on avoiding procrastination, which I watched instead of starting projects that are due tomorrow. Heck, I may even watch it again.

And then Niklas: "I'll make a video about that!"

Period!
