      All screens count too. Desktop screen time can be very bad for the body, sitting in one place like that. And we have known for decades that sitting on the couch in front of the tv isn't great either. Also looking at any type of electronic display has negative effects on your vision. Our eyes are made to look around at real world objects.

      @@khushjain8050 I've been on and off with social media for the past 7 months. This time round I have't had it for nearly a month now. I also deleted youtube from my phone and tv apps which been a massive help as I use it to replace the others (now only access on my laptop). I've gotten back into reading, working out, and feel mentally clearer. IT hasn't been easy since I was quite addicted but definitely worth me taking that leap.

    Waking up without alarms is even better, great video still!
    Here’s a few things I experienced when I ditched alarms completely:
    1) the morning starts at the night before
    2) sleep early and let your body wake naturally at a reasonable hour in the morning(I wake up easily at 5:45am)
    3) it’s very peaceful and empowering when you wake up in silence
    4) sets me up to a good morning especially when I avoid looking at my phone(I’ll be honest, it doesn’t happen all the time)

      If you ask someone how to enter Heaven, they will most likely say, "Be a good person." Well the Bible says that none is good, no not one. We like to compare ourselves to guys like Hitler and say, "Hey, I'm a pretty good guy compared to him." But when we compare ourselves to God's standard, we realize that the Bible speaks truth when it says that we all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God!     I've lost or haven't had access to my phone for the past two weeks. The changes I've noticed in my patience and attention span are remarkable. I've always struggled with adhd, and have relied on medication to be able to work in the field that I do. I have to work 12-24 shift often. Ever since I stopped using my phone, I haven't needed medication. I've been able to complete reports, focus, and can even socialize much better with the people around me. At the end of a 12 hour shift I don't have the same anxious feeling to go home, but can relax at work and even don't mind the extra hours in money it brings. I actually have purposely started working more and have no anxiety at all about getting off on time. Doing work actually has made the time go by far quicker than just doing absolutely nothing. working is actually preferable to complete boredom, and my production has sky rocketed. I've been able to be more creative and discuss interesting things out of shear boredom because I do not have access to my phone. The only entertainment is what my coworkers and friends can provide me.

    Some of the "analog" things in life really do make a difference. I watched a similar video months ago about clocks. I bought an analog wall clock instead of using my phone. Instead of being right on time to get to work or a couple minutes late (using apps to precisely leave at the right time), I'm now arriving early and driving less stressed.

    To be honest, waking up without alarms as much as possible has been very helpful for me. The sleep just feels so much more complete and you notice the difference in your hours awake too.

    This is my favorite thing about my Apple watch. I don't use it for text notifications at all and solely use it for productivity apps and keeping me on task. You also don't have to deal with the intense buzz of an alarm clock in the morning. I love it.

    I was feeling stressful and lonely these days and years since lockdown. I've found too much phone and always expecting that someone would text me or I might get a new match and all and these expectations put me even in more stress. And I can easily relate to this video that I'm not the only one. Mobile phones and social media are biggest powerhouse of stress. Every 5 minutes, you check your phone if something has got you up and this slow toxicity is growing into a bigger picture.
    And then I decided that I'll use my laptop to browse youtube, music and all instead of using mobile phone. And I can't tell that I'm feeling more alive and present these days.
    In the end, if you're not an influencer or celebrity who gets lots of DMs and you're not feeling present and are loner.
    ---------------Be away from your phones as much as you can.----------------------------

      But your morning could be different if you wanted. I need to leave for work at 0800 (if on the early shift) and I get up at 0600 to get stuff (Reading, Emails, Housework, Meditation and Duolingo) done before work.

    On weekends I find myself scrolling through my phone at night until late hours, but I'm now inspired to be more disciplined with myself to stop the urge. My current screen time is around 3.5 hours and my goal is to get that down to under 2. It's like a mini game. Thanks again for making this amazing content that inspired us all! 😄

      I remember reading a couple years ago that the average teen spends 6 hours a day on their phone. Or maybe it was all screens, not sure. If it included all screens that would be realistic because of homework using computers.

    What a video!! WOW!!!!!!!!! I haven't taken my mobile phone into the bedroom since 2015. A life-changing decision!
    I used to use the alarm on my phone and have it in the hallway. For the last 2 years, I have used the alarm on my watch instead. No phone usage for the first and last 2 hours of the day.

    Currently doing a social media detox to move on from a heartbreak. Fomo is higher than ever (I’m in high school so there’s a lot of chatting and stuff) but it really helps not being able to read older convos etc. It’s been three weeks and appart from not being able to contact people for teamwork, it felt really good and I don’t feel any pressure to download them again. Some friends understand and respect what I do and others kinda judge me but I really don’t care. More and more people are getting a hold of my phone number and people text me directly, which really helps. Idk why I’m sharing this but it may help some of y’all trying to move on from bad times

      Hi, It's been a year
      Idk your situation right now, but I've had an idea for anyone interested:
      Some phones have focus mode and or family mode. With them you can make your phone into an alarm only device for a few hours while you sleep and stuff.
      I don't know if it will work, but I'll try and if it works I'll come back.

    Sleeping with your phone next to you head is a huge reason for poor sleep. The "radiation" is not good for us.       @@Jayden-gr6mf I am old school and all we had back in the day were ones with the little bright red light and god awful alarms😵‍💫😁 I was in a good habit last year.. phone on airplane mode across the room.. had my water and vitamins right next to it... so it forced me to get up and going. Loved it actually. I failed when I had an upset in life and then cpouldnt fall asleep at 9. I honestly have an addiction to youtube🤣🤣🤣 Mostly Good information.. but it needs to stop... feeling a bit brain dead... anywho... here I am 930am getting distracted🙃 Good Luck!!!     I feel the fact that also makes a difference here is that all the people around you ditched the phone & that did the experiment alongwith you. I have tried this before but it was much harder cause my roomates were mostly glued to the phone screens and during that time keeping my self control became even more difficult. But yes, it gets easier with time.

    Ive been experiencing the boredom and frustration of loneliness and avoiding time to myself through occupying my time with my phone, especially TikTok. I've literally never felt more depressed. If I stay off my phone I get really sad and down because I live alone, and if I'm on it I get sad not being able to talk to the people I used to. It's really hard.

    The morning routine he showed as an example in the intro was the same one I was having today. After watching the video, I went to the gym and had a workout. On my way back, I bought an alarm clock. Kudos to you guys.

    The "importance of the evening" section really resonated with me in a couple of ways. Every morning I'm always trying to find something new in my life being that I want to quit my addiction to weed smoking, but end up distracted with so many thoughts in my head and other fears that I have. And, because of that fear, I'm always left panicking all throughout that "boring" period at night, so I just end up smoking as usual. Really sucks, but yea lol.

    So good to see this experiment being done. I have removed my mobile phone from the room and it made an impact in the mornings but you guys just inspired me to go make the evening change... it may ne a little change however i believe it will improve my sleep and overall life!!     Another thing I think is useful is not to scroll the shorts, but to decide a minimum what to watch instead of let TH-cam choose.
    (for example *choose* from feeds)

    Excited to watch - your videos are always so inspiring, from the visuals/music/epic drone shots etc. good work! It’s kind of nice not to scroll through your phone at night/in the morning. It completely drains me to do that as well.. sometimes I charge my phone on the other side of the room so it forces me to get up when my alarm goes off, and then I don’t feel like lying in bed and staring at my phone since I’m already up
    Also WHERE/HOW do you make those graphics? I’m hoping to create graphics for my own channel as well

    I don't have space for an alarm clock, as I have no bedside table, so I always put my phone just in the bed between the frame and the mattress. I think from know on I will have it on the table next to the door, so I have to get up and go to the exit of my room to turn off my alarm, and I'll also just check it before I leave the house instead of scrolling through. Being available in messages is sometimes important to me, but scrolling isn't at all. Watching this video has helped me get the motivation to begin my mornings in a better way.

    I recently went to a 2 week summer camp with no smart electronics. I actually did not even remember my phone till half way through, I thought I’m proud of myself for not caring about no phone! Was really nice and I felt alive.

    Nice video, well done ! I've tried to do a week without phone in the morning like that, as an experiment, and it was freaking amazing ! The mornings was way more productive and stress-free but in the other hand, the evenings was really tough, I was choked to realise how much anxiety I had just by not having my phone in my room at night... The main problem was the feeling of not being able to answer an urgent phone call, like a friend needing help or an accident or something bad happening to a close relative... This illusion of control over things through devices like that is quite scary imo !
    Anyway ! Thanks for the reminder, I'll try again very shortly for sure ! :)

    I broke my phone 5 months ago. Now i use an actual alarm clock and i go to bed earlier too because i don't spend time on social media. I also get every task done when i get them and i'm more organised so less stress overall. I would recommend to people with phones to use normal messages and the phone to talk online and check social media 30 minutes (or whatever you feel is ok) after you've done everything you have to do and i promise after some time of sticking at this routine you'll feel way better.

    Idk if I’m the only one but when I wake up because of my phone alarm I just press the button to stop it and go do my morning routine and I had zero idea how people wake up and just watch their phone, guess I was somehow like that already.

    I also find creative value in the evening time. Sometimes ideas or pathways of thinking arise and sometimes even adrenalin kicks in because of it. Though this is from huge value, i struggle a bit with the distraction that comes along with this. I feel the urge to note things down, when i actually have to sleep. Sometimes i take the notes if there is to much to remember until the next morning (using the phone - oh no rabbithole alert!), and sometimes i just try to remember until the next morning. Im sure some of all of you guys are experiencing that situation and that problem that comes along with it. How do you manage it? For me one solution was taking walks somewhat regularly. Im not that good in forcing myself into this mental state that we get when we are laying in bed without our phones. But taking a walk for 2 hours every know and then (probably 2 times a week at the moment) allows me to increasingly hop into this focused and creative state of mind during the walk. I still experience the bed thinking "problem" from time to time, but it happens not that often anymore since i can compensate and address it by simply taking walks.

    Here’s one thing I do that actually does help sometimes: I use my Apple Watch as an alarm. I wear it to bed, but I don’t look at it. It tracks my sleep throughout the night, and in the morning, it wakes me with a sound that gradually gets louder and some vibrations to ensure that I don’t sleep through it. Then, once I tap the screen to silence it, it shows me only what I need to know immediately: the current date, the weather outside, and the current battery level of the watch. After closing that screen, it shows me what notifications came in overnight, but as you can’t do much with them on a tiny watch screen, it doesn’t cause any problems. I do have a fully mechanical alarm clock (like, the really old kind that you wind up each night), but it’s SERIOUSLY LOUD-possibly even _more_ so than your quartz one-and as I live in a small apartment AND a small apartment building, I don’t use it for fear of waking up the entire building when the alarm goes off. And because it’s entirely mechanical, there’s always the chance that it could break eventually. So I usually save it for long-term power outages or other situations where charging my watch is impossible. But yeah, if I ever get the chance, I’ll buy a digital alarm clock and try using that instead of my watch. I may still wear it to bed, but I’ll turn the alarm off permanently, so it just tracks my sleep and nothing else.

    I 100% recommend turning notifications off on social media apps. I have mine off for snapchat and i only find myself using it lie 1-2 times a day compared to 10+ like i used to.

    The mechanic alarm clocks are very good at getting you up, they basically shock you out of bed.
    However, I did notice that on a saturday morning (when the alarm wasn't set). I was lounging in bed and could actually hear it like it was going off - but it wasn't.

    My screen time was around 2 hours per day on social media. Split that into morning and evening usage which are the worst times to do that. I know its much much less then most of you out there but I still bought an alarm clock and also I placed my phone into grey screen mode to make it look boring and basic. This content can really change your life if you put time into it. I havent seen helpfull content like this in a long time.

    For a couple years now i have made it a routine to read myself to sleep. I find there is no better sleep aid, i'm off my phone, and the consistency helped me read 35 books last year. Highly recommend

    I've been using a dedicated alarm clock my whole life, I never even gave any thought to using my phone, with very rare exceptions like when I'm on vacation and I forget to bring a travel alarm. I agree with all the points you made here. In addition, another nice thing is that, when you wake up in the middle of the night and want to know what time it is, you can do that without having to open up your phone and risk getting distracted/blinded by the bright light.

    i wish we could go back to a time wihtout cellphones. the problem is that if you are not checking your phone you are missing out on things because everyone assumes that you have one or that you should have one.
    Back when no one had one so no one got mad if they texted you and you did not answer . people actually walked to your house to knock on your door, people made plans and stuck to them because there was no easy way to cancel them.. best times was in the 80s , before pagers.

    What helps me get up is having smart lights which usually wake me up 3min before my alarm rings, with all the light i then have in my room im feeling motivated to get up and start my day

    My phone wakes me up at 05:45 in the morning - after 3-5 hours of "relaxed" sleep (not really). Wash my face, brush my teeth, get dressed and at 06:00 am I leave the apartment. There's no time to stare at the phone - but relaxing is something else too :D

    My goal is to eliminate screen time before breakfast and when getting ready for bed. I disabled notifications in the first 45 minutes of waking up. I'm considering a homepod mini for my nightstand to help keep my phone away from arms reach.

    Looking at my phone in the morning would actually be an improvement for me, since I usually hit snooze forever until I get up at the last minute.
