My #1 Qb of all time. Rings have some say but overall rings are a team accomplishment but side by side and throw for throw I'm going with dapper Dan! Giants fan by the way
@Zach well wjhats the difference Marino faced a tougher defense in his only Superbowl appearance and never went again because he chose to stay loyal to a terrible team and organization that never built success around him unlike Brady which is why I'd take Marino over Brady he never played with an elite player or team ever in his career and Brady has had at least 5 HOF players in his career
His down field vision is unmatched. His ability to deliver the ball into coverage is unmatched. When he threw to a receiver, he’d already looked off at least once.
I would think these so called abilities then would have been more than enough to have an overall passer rating better than 77 in the 18 games that mattered the most in his career. 10 postseasons, and only 1 with a passer rating over 100 and only 3 with a passer rating over 80. Where did all these magical skills go during those 18 games when it mattered most?
i'm thankful for those early to mid 90s cowboys. still not completely over dallas not drafting moss in '98, though. would have loved to have seen: aikman irvin moss deion emmitt on offense.
He didn't just have the quickest release, He was ungodly the way he tossed the ball into places very very few can even dream of.. Also a Master come back player, tough as nails. His vision I don't think anyone has matched till this day.

Greatest QB of all time. Some might think otherwise because obviously he didn’t win the big one but I don’t count rings in football like I do basketball because a lot has to go right for the QB & team to win a super bowl. NBA one player can take over an entire game & win it for you. Marino changed the game with his quick release & how defenders attacked QBs. Go back & watch the show he put on against the 85 bears he was just one of a kind.
Not really the coaching and scheme have been the best Brady on another team would not have nearly so any rings. He'd still have a few he's that good but not Marino. Put Marino on the pats he'd have ten Rings
@Legend__ 21 I get that, and I'm not downplaying Brady being amazing he's a legend period. I'm just saying Marino was handicapped by so many things that Brady wasn't.. Brady has had much much more talent and a scheme head coach combo to boot, let alone the rules that protect the QB.etc. I Mean I like Brady, but if I had a new franchise team to start, my first pick would be QB, and I'd rather have Marino to build around
There has been one player from each sport that I have IDOLIZED as players. In football, that dude is DAN MARINO. It was a joy to watch him play...unfortunately, he did not win it all.....never the less, it was a great ride.
I'm a huge Marino fan and watching these amazing passes along with these incredible acrobatic catches by Mark Duper and Mark Clayton simply MAGICAL !!!
Football has not been the same for me once he retired. I remember my sister's boyfriend years back asking if I had money on a Dolphins game, but I was only 16. That's how intense things were watching him do his thing in the AFC on NBC. He is without a doubt the most intense competitor I have ever seen in sports. It's not even close.
Thanks for this, it's outstanding! As a Dolphins fan, I grew up watching Marino play and this brought back all of those awesome memories. He was truly the best.
What Marino achieved in his 1984 season was quite remarkable given that he was playing in an era where teams favoured the running game and time of possession. Greatest pure passing QB of all time?
Back when people recognized a QBs greatness for what they brought to the field and not based off championships. This must be the last time in history when people recognized the sport as a team sport rather than it being all QB. Marino is the most talented passer of the ball the NFL has ever seen (and potentially ever will). If he played today he'd have 50+ TDs and 5500+ yards multiple times in his career. His 84 season would be 60+ TDs and 6000+ yards if he played today in that same run first offense or 70+ TDs and 7000+ yards if he played in todays offenses.
Been a fan since 1989. Always got me excited and anxious every Sunday morning turning on ESPN NFL countdown just to hear Chris German talk about the Dolphins and Marino. Always gave us a chance to make the playoffs. Marino may have never won a SB, but he sure is a champion to us dolfans. It’s 2021 and we’re still searching for our franchise QB
A few years ago when the Cowboys had the best Offensive line in football they asked Marino how many TD’s would he throw if he had that same line . He said “atleast 60” lmao . What a legend
@@mikepelligrino6329 Everything is important, QB has a lot less of an impact than you would think and are often carried in the postseason. QB has less of an impact than an individual basketball player, without a great OLine, a run threat, weapons, and a solid defense behind them they aren't winning anything. And yes, Tom Brady's best SB performance ever was against the Eagles which was a loss. 500 yards, 3 TDs and a QBR of about 90. In comparison Brady had 200 yards and a QBR of 82 against the Chiefs. Against the Rams he had 0 TDs, 1 INT, 262 yards and a QBR of 24. Putting lol in all caps isn't an argument.
@@wickedbabayaga We'll have to agree to disagree. A QB is very important to win/loss like a pitcher in baseball. And a QB's best game is never a loss IMO. The only stat that matters is the W's.
Marino was putting up 2020 passing stats in the early 80's. When they actually played defense. When the running games reigned supreme. He was a cheat code QB. I'd loved to have seen him play in todays game.
The very best quaterback ever..he is the one of my favourite playera.. smart and faster when he was in troubles.. he knew how to go forward ..he knew exactly where to send the pass...
I never saw the Beatles in concert, never seen a Van Gogh painting up close, never heard Frank Sinatra sing... but I saw Dan Marino throw a football and I can tell you that man was a master at his craft. Saying he was “great” doesn’t begin to do it justice.
Just heard this podcast and Aikman was talking about his early years in the league, when he first became part of that legendary QB Club of the late 80's - early '90s. Now, Aikman came into the league in 1989, so the members of such club were guys like Elway, Montana, Kelly, Young, Esiason, Simms, etc. What Aikman said about the group was, literally: "Dan Marino was essentially the Frank Sinatra of that club. He was Chairman of the Board. Everybody just kind of huddle around Dan Marino". Marino was an alpha among alphas, and the guys who have him in the highest regard are not his fans, but his peers. An ex qb once said that if you polled all the QBs from the 80's and 90's to ask them who was the best QB to ever play, the overwhelming majority would say it was Dan Marino. And that's the highest compliment anyone can receive.

@@отпирайте No one says Rodgers lmao except green bay fan girls.
My #1 Qb of all time. Rings have some say but overall rings are a team accomplishment but side by side and throw for throw I'm going with dapper Dan! Giants fan by the way
The best pure passer ever.
@Zach well that's you I want someone who doesn't go 16 and perfect and loses to a QB who probably won't even make the HOF
@Zach you know what just stop talking to me you pick Brady I pick Marino let's leave it at that I'm sick of Brady fanyboys so bye
Peyton manning was better but theyre the top 2 ever
I am honored to have been able to watch Marino play. He was a awesome quarterback, definitely one of the best ever.
Greatest pure passer to ever do it.
Played Quarterback growing up and in high school because of my last name. My family always rooted for Dan and the Dolphins!
Too bad you couldn't ball like Dan, or have hair as fresh.
@@jarret45 that hair was glorious!
Marino is the truth!! He doesnt even wind up when he throws. Just flicks his wrist. Thats some major power 😨😨😨
Growing up watching Marino is nothing like watching these highlights 20 years later. My god the laser like arm and accuracy was unreal.
Dan the man is my favorite quarterback thank you dan for the beautiful moments
Thank god we can watch
Barry Sanders rushing,
Randy Moss catching,
Lawrence Taylor tackling, and
Dan Marino throwing a football.
i'm thankful for those early to mid 90s cowboys.
still not completely over dallas not drafting moss in '98, though.
would have loved to have seen:
aikman
irvin
moss
deion
emmitt on offense.
Deion sanders intercepting
He didn't just have the quickest release, He was ungodly the way he tossed the ball into places very very few can even dream of.. Also a Master come back player, tough as nails. His vision I don't think anyone has matched till this day.
Actually they compared marino md Rogers Marino has a faster release by far..#13 still the fastest release
Jeff George was nowhere near being the QB that Marino has but his release was insane as well
When it comes to pure talent as a QB, Marino is the 🐐 in my opinion.
he wa HONEST & didn't need referee help.
Pure talent? Nah that's Mahomes. Both with have similar arms but Mahomes is much more mobile
@@IamSSAINVINCIBLEx If that's the case Michael Vick is waaay better than Mahomes. mobile doesn't mean your better.... each are talented, Marino had a laser arm & throw in tight spots Mahomes can't.
@Boondock Saint ur a goofball mahomes is def a more talented qb than Marino. he has a stronger arm and can throw better on the run.
Marino had quicker release mahomes stronger arm
His throws were so beautiful.
His spirals were never all that tight, but the angle of delivery was always spot on. Truly a special talent.
His running and scrambling ability is what put him in the hall of fame. Such a gifted runner.. never caught from behind.
I’m 43 years old da bills was always my favorite team and Dan Marino is still my favorite QB
@Legend__ 21 I'd say "best arm/talent" I mean FYTB does have 6, but Marino would be a baller in today's game so it's not really a fair comparison
I love marino but at some point championships have to matter. Brady is the best and it hasn't been a discussion for awhile
Joe Montana is the greatest
There has been one player from each sport that I have IDOLIZED as players. In football, that dude is DAN MARINO. It was a joy to watch him play...unfortunately, he did not win it all.....never the less, it was a great ride.
Just entertainment, don't idolize it.
Greatness is breaking records without trying to break records.
I went to Pitt with Dan Marino. He was a real nice guy in college. Anytime that I saw him, he was a mature beyond his years. Just a good guy!
I’m a die hard Pats fan but man I love Dan Marino. Top 3 of all time at least.
*top 10
@@MisterOrange1 top 3 his game is any era. 2 bad knees and on one Achilles.
If he played in this era of protected QB, he might of been the best ever.
Jason Balcaitis totally agree
Thanks for this, it's outstanding! As a Dolphins fan, I grew up watching Marino play and this brought back all of those awesome memories. He was truly the best.
What Marino achieved in his 1984 season was quite remarkable given that he was playing in an era where teams favoured the running game and time of possession. Greatest pure passing QB of all time?
Yesss!
My wife calls me "quick release" for a whole different reason
Your my idol
What’s the reason ??
you mean ex-wife
Jrock420blam 🤦🏻♂️😂
Hilarious lol
Pound for pound The Greatest QB of all time. If I had two wishes, I’d wish for World Peace and for Marino to win a Super Bowl
William Longworth IV
Love it..
The greatest QB to never win a SB. He was amazing to see play.
Ron Artest? He won a championship.
Dan Marino, one of the greats. He was cool. I remember those days when football was football.
Absolutely amazing quarter back. Coming from a Pats fan. DAMN!
accuracy and ball placement on a different level. dude was special
His 84 szn was the best season by any player EVER.
Retired 20 years ago , and they're still making videos of him. Was fun to watch.
Dan Marnio had one of the best quick releases and so accurate, the 🐐🐐
What is a quick release?
@@cra2cra226 when you release the ball quick
@@cra2cra226 how fast you can throw the ball
U mean the Only with the quickest release .....
And if he played under Belichic? 8 Superbowls.
@@OverandOutChief1 how can you say that tho even tho he never even won a Super Bowl lol
@@ExchantedGammerPro Because metrics show defenses win Superbowls.
Tom Brady Brady wishes he was Dan Marino.
Straight hatin' on Brady as if he wasn't great on the field aside from winning championships. Stfu
Fantasy football takes on a new meaning with that Marino quote.
Watching marino hit those crossing routes was football art
11 yrs is all it took him to break every record that mattered!
Except the most important record. SB wins!
@@mikepelligrino6329 that's a team stat. tom brady's best super bowl performance in his career his team lost to the eagles.
@@wickedbabayaga
QB is the most important position. And a SB loss is NOT Brady's best performance LOL
@@wickedbabayaga
We'll have to agree to disagree. A QB is very important to win/loss like a pitcher in baseball. And a QB's best game is never a loss IMO. The only stat that matters is the W's.
Best Arm Talent I've ever seen.
Come back here every so often to cry and long for watching a Marino game in the 80's Miami sun.
😥
He is one and always be one of the absolute best we have seen and who played in the nfl.
So Greatful to have had I’m in a PHINS uniform his entire career! PHINS UP!
Amazin video, i wish he still played. Id go watch the game no matter where it is!
Marino was putting up 2020 passing stats in the early 80's. When they actually played defense. When the running games reigned supreme. He was a cheat code QB. I'd loved to have seen him play in todays game.
Truly stunning throws. Thank you for putting this together. There will never be another Marino...
The way he talks. This man is very humble. I am new to the NFL world. and he is now my idol.
Man he was ahead of his time.
He is the precursor to all modern QBs. You have Peyton saying after Archie Manning, Marino was his favorite.
The greatest pure passer in history.
I'm blessed to see every game Marino played as a kid. Sad to see him with no ring, and Miami will never see a Marino quality quarterback again.
The very best quaterback ever..he is the one of my favourite playera.. smart and faster when he was in troubles.. he knew how to go forward ..he knew exactly where to send the pass...
Dan was a favorite of MNF fans for years...Thanks for the memories
The COOLEST quarterback of all time!
Pffffft Marino farts are better then Tribisky even in coolness
J Dolo this didn’t age well did it
Joe Namath is pretty cool
Except a dick in real life met him a few times
One of the greatest Quarterbacks of all time
Dan was the master at hitting receivers in stride. The mark of a great QB.
Not in the playoffs
Idc he'll always be the GOAT to me he did every major qb accomplishment FIRST 5000 yards in the 80s wtf mann wayyyyy ahead of his time
I never saw the Beatles in concert, never seen a Van Gogh painting up close, never heard Frank Sinatra sing... but I saw Dan Marino throw a football and I can tell you that man was a master at his craft. Saying he was “great” doesn’t begin to do it justice.
His arm is straight fire.. The throws that look like it was soft for him were bombs 💣.
Clayton and Duper were phenomenal.
Dan Marino was still my favorite quarter back.
week 1 after the injury in 94, great duel, i remember watching that game , top 3 performances ever, mud and all. good times.
More perfect passes than anyone ever, then or now.
Marino could throw a bullet even in the last year of his career. Greatest pure passer the NFL has ever seen.
Brady is the GOAT but Marino the greatest PURE PASSER ever! No doubt no one close
Form= Perfect
Footwork= Perfect
Release= Up and Out, no wasted movement, Perfect.🔥🔥🔥
Best damn QB ever if u ask me he didn't win a Superbowl but he was deadly accurate quickest release I ever saw
Well said!
