Building This Off Grid Cabin From Start To Finish

I bought a land because I wanted peace. As a filmmaker I was working too much, traveling too much and I wanted to slow down. So I decided to do something else with my life, like building a cabin that turned out to finish as my full time home.
To be honest i didn't know much about building anything and even less about being "offgrid".
There's a lot of mistakes in that build and that's part of the learning. We can spend our whole life talking about the 1000 different ways to do things but every situation comes with a unique set of challenges. Here there's no road. Only a trail. A material elevator for all the tools and material needed to bring to the top of the cliff, operable only during the warmer seasons.
Despite these challenges, without my friends, family and folks at the hardware store that project would not have been possible. The film is dedicated to everyone involved along the way and a reminder of where this project began.

Yup! You're right. Those extremely fine glass fibers from the insulations cause lung damage.

Came here because of the book I recently bought, "Off Grid Life: Your Ideal Home in the Middle of Nowhere." In it, it features the cabin from the video. I am studying architecture, but they dont teach you stuff like this. I decided to begin by reading this book. I don't regret one bit. Its sort of surreal to see the cabin being built in real view when I first was amazed by it through a picture from the book. I definitely recommend anyone to read it!

I did this on a farm one hour east of Memphis, TN, and I plan to do it again when I retire to New Hampshire, but it won't be the scale you did. The breath taking views must quite nice to look out at every morning while you have your first cup of coffee! Live the Dream Man!

This, this right here. This gave me so much peace and inspiration, from the story of it, to the progress and then to the end result.
