I could not have come across this video at a better time, as I have been arguing and debating with myself about just getting another 81 case Ingersoll tractor to go with the one that I have. Where installation and removal of the mower deck seems to be such a big to-do for me, I thought it might be easier to just have one for mowing and one for hauling stuff around. But if there were an easier way for me to remove and install the mower deck, then I might not have to resort to buying another tractor and the possibility of being lynched from my backyard swing set if I do. The issue at hand is that I don't have enough space for another tractor. And I sure as hell don't feel right about having to ask my neighbors if I can keep it on their property even though I'm their land stewardess. But up until I saw this video, I didn't realize that I have the drive-over option. Mine is a 1981 210.
And yes, the frustration of removal and installation of the mower deck has been all too real for me. It's a great mower. But unfortunately the deck just does not come up high enough on this thing for me to just randomly drive it around the yard without it catching on any bumps or riffs and tearing up the lawn. And going across the driveway can sound incredibly obnoxious. But if I can more easily install and uninstall the deck when there's no grass to be mowed, that would make my life a hell of a lot easier and I could avoid an unnecessary expense. I didn't want to just use this tractor only for mowing grass. I also want to be able to use it for hauling things around in a wagon and just general puttering on. But that's been very hard for me to do every time the deck is on it. So it's only been getting used to cut grass with.
Hi thanks for watching and the comment! But any reason to get a another tractor is always good, heck most people try to find the smallest excuse to lol... Though they prefer to have inside shelter, most live out side and do very well. You could get a hydraulic model thats a step up and the deck will lift hydraulically too! Lol thanks again!

Great video! When I turn clockwise to release tension on the belt, it does not seem to get loose. The screw threads and I see the spring moving but it is still tight. Any suggestions?
Thanks, is it a OEM belt? Also they only adjust a bit, one you turn to much it can tighten again depending on position of the pulley mounts
Pretty decent video but you have to admit there is no "very quickly" way to install the mowing deck on these tractors. I put mine on in the fall for doing leave and remove it after that for snow work. I love these tractors and I'm on my second one. Removing the deck isn't near as bad as the install and either way it's no fun.

Compare to many older machines the case ingersoll system is far better and faster for swapping attachments. One can have a mower of and plow on in a mater of minutes. Other brands can take far far longer, lots of tools and sometimes more than 1 person. Thanks again for watching and comment, will agree they are great machines! Lol
@@caseingersolltractorsnortheastgreat machines for sure. I have a 3012 I bought dirt cheap with a blown Kohler magnum. I quickly rebuilt it and I think it’s a wonderful machine. But attachment changes aren’t very easy or quick. For example. My wife would never be able to do it on her own and she’s fairly handy. All of these older machines from any manufacturer treated attachments more as a permanent implement rather than an attachment meant to be changed quickly and often.
That’s not to say that it can’t be better than other machines of the same vintage though. I’ve had a few random garden tractors similar to these over the years and I will admit that of the old machines these ones are the best in terms of changing attachments and also they’re just nicer to operate than others. The HyDrive really makes a world of difference for me.
@brandoncrimmins6296 yes attachments change very easy and fast. I d not know of a faster system and no tools required
Great video. Just purchased a 4020 and picking it up tomorrow. Need to remove the mower deck to get it on the trailer so this video was perfect. I’ll be replacing the belt. What is the correct belt part number?
Congrats. You want to use Case Ingersoll oem belts only. They are very durable but more importantly they are 9/16 and belts you will get local will be 1/2 or 5/8 and they wond ride in pulleys correctly, operate correct rpm or last as long. How does the deck raise hydraulicly? Its hard to tell from watching this.
Hi not sure what you mean how? You use the lever on the dash to raide and lower implements.
@@caseingersolltractorsnortheast where is the piston that operates the up and down movement? Is it all done through linkage?
The piston is under between Fram connected to a rock shaft. All attachments lift hydraulically
There is a way esear wat to do that I made a bare to drive the front on my tractor under and put a chain under both sides of the front end and pull the pins and drop the belt and muel drive and lift the front of the tractor up about 8 inches with a chain fall And role the deck out from under it on the anti scalp wheals an are done in about 5 minutes. He makes way more work out of that then it needs to be.
Thanks for watching and the comment. There are multiple ways to do it. Our way you need a board and a tractor. Everyone has boards and the tractor. As you can see it's very fast, simple and safe and Everyone has what's needed to do it in a couple minutes. Your way sounds like it would work fine. But need far more things and much more complicated and less safe than simply driving over a deck...

I have a 224 hydriv 1st year owning. I'm trying to get the belt on, but I can't turn the deck pulley maybe 3/4 turn each way to walk it on. it hits something inside the deck when turning the pulley. do you have any tips or suggestions??
First are you using a OEM belt? There is alot of movement that screw will travel. You need to see what's stopping it or maybe threads have issues?
The bearings on the clutch of my Ingersoll 3016 melted. A new clutch is coming. Any tips or caveats for me when I install the new one. I'm 81 and never did this before. My neighbor and I got the old one off the shaft using a puller. It worked pretty good. Totally new experience for me. I decided to commit to keeping this tractor (1100 hrs) going rather than buying a new inferior one for $3000. I'm going to try to learn how to repair it. The old clutch came loose from the retainer bar, spun around and broke the wiring. I imagine new wires and a new bar will come with the new clutch. The old bar is now bent out of shape. A parts guy took great pains to make sure the right clutch is coming, I think from Salem. Thanks!

Can’t get the front hooked back up. If I raise the deck, the move able boxy piece with the tensioner on the front is jammed into the ground. If I have the deck down, I can move this front piece up and down, but not high enough to catch on the pins.

Sounds like something is froze up or not hooked up correctly. Hard to say not being there.

Excellent video. Question. My blades stopped turning while I was mowing with my 3016. Belt is still tight. Is it a switch problem? Hydraulic?
Thank you. Is the pto turing on? Is the belt spinning? If so could be the belt on the deck itself. If not then have to do some diagnostic work to see what working and get voltage and what's not.
@@caseingersolltractorsnortheast THANK YOU! I flip the PTO switch and I hear nothing. I'm not that mechanically inclined. When the blades stopped, there wasn't any unusual sound. Like a belt breaking. I saw no pieces. Just stopped. Maybe it's the switch. I might be able to figure out how to check it's conductivity with a meter.
@Roger Roth yes could be the switch, could be a safety switch, could be wiring/connection issue or it could be the pto itself.
@@caseingersolltractorsnortheast Absolutely! Thanks again. If I lived nearer you, I'd pay you to fix it. One more thing? My 3016 has a little more than 1000 hours on it. I bought it used in '17 for $1500. I've put at least that much more into repairing and maintaining it. I realize Ingersoll's quality. Should I just keep putting money into it or should I buy a new rider? I bought a new Simplicity in MI years ago and ended up having to put in a new transmission right after the warranty ran out. That was expensive. It was a 20-horse. I mowed 1 1/2 acres and blew snow with it.
Absolutely keep the Ingersoll. You can't find the same quality machine today. It would take T least $15k or more to have something satisfactory and it still won't be the same quality. Take good care of it, spend time and money on maintaining it.
Very good video however any Case model is the worst lawn mower/tractor ever built if your looking for good cuts.
Thanks for the compliment. But as far as your comment on cut it is the furthest thing from the truth. The true garden tractor models (not lawn tractor) mow like golf course quality. If not then you have some serious set up/adjustment issues or serious problems. The 2 blade 42 inch ingersoll deck is a very rare and only deck of many over 50 years that is not a great deck or cut. But so few of them were made.. Case Ingersoll 38, 40, 44, 45, 48 and 60 inch decks cant be beat build or cut quality. Theit quality surpasses anything out there as we have used them all. I would say the only garden tractor cut wise, not tractor quality wise.. that may cut better is some Simplicity models. Let us know what model you have and we can see if we can get you straightened out and lawn looking like a golf course!
@@caseingersolltractorsnortheast Appreciate the reply and offer to help but I probably know more about Case mowers that you, long from being a novice at farm machinery and such (farmers). My dad bought this unit Model 220, 10hp. Kolher new in 81/82 with immediate regrets, it rides like a old wooden horse drawn wagon with terrible seat springs (back killer), deck height, terrible scalping grass , deck adjustment almost non-existinal. The all metal construction and hydraulic drive is all the good I can say about it. Anytime I hear someone say anything good about ease of working on them and how great grass cuttings are the ones trying to unload a their headaches, I'm not doing that to anyone. Mines almost 100% stock @200 hrs. on it if your interested. Not trying to be an a$$, just stating facts from our end.
@@t.j.h2810 well you are one of only of a hand full ever encountered with those opinions out of thousands. Most times we find those frustrated are those that are not knowledgeable in working on or the operation of them or are forgetting something. You may know more for what that's worth thetes always those that know more, are bigger or faster lol. Never claimed to be the expert personally and learn new stuff every day!, just been called expert others. There are those that are self proclaimed experts and have to try and inform everyone of that.. That but I can tell you I have run and or owned many hundreds of pieces of equipment, from probably hundreds of these small Case Ingersolls to about every brand of farm tractor during my career dairy farming full time, have also owned and or operated many construction and heavy equipment and tractor trailers, dump trucks as well as worked on countless customers machins of all types.... So I maybe not be the number one guy in the world. I do have plenty of knowledge and personal experiences with many brands, types, sizes and models of all kinds and of equipment to be pretty confident in my opinion and agree with the opinion of the majority on how these mow and are built. Again you are definitely the odd outlier with your opinion of the mower and qualityand that's fine and we all have different opinions and makes the world go around. But I still stand by there is somthing wrong or you are doing some thing wrong. As far as ride lol anything built right rides harder, but come on its a lawn garden tractors from 1982 lol...What are you expecting? Take air out of the tires. But a couple years later they put springs on that helped a bit but it's still a heavy duty lawn mower. Your 1982 should not have had springs but rubber bumpers. Not to sound like a A$$ lol

When I was reading the comments, I was thinking the same thing, right about the time you said "maybe a Simplicity". Anybody that knows.....just knows. Hop on either a Case/Ingersoll OR a *real* Simplicity/Allis, and anybody will quickly find out why they cost $8k-$10k back in the day. These things are legit machines. Now, in my experience, the brand that *does* tend to get excessive hype about a so-so cut quality.....is JD 🤭
