It has been a few years, how has this pole held up for you? I want something 30’ or higher, but this thing does not look rigid enough. Hope to hear your thoughts on this.
Great question.. this pole has not worked out well at all.. a few good winds and it is toast.. next pole I buy will be a solid one- I do not recommend this if you have any wind at all… I’ll post a new video updated review soon
@@PilotJon I have been searching for about a year for something I can salvage from an old building. A nice OLD well built one. So far no luck though. Darn things are so expensive new.
Good flagpole i have a 20 ft sectional flagpole and its great just had to change the snaphooks to metal ones and the rope i have had mine for 11 years its great.
I’ve always wanted a pole like what you were assembling I love the pool you brought because I went to Lowe’s and I and my dad came up to one manager. I told the manager if they had a flagpole just like this one they said sorry but no, and I was so sad. We only brought the flagand the cleat I was so sad
I bought and made a fenial because mine waz taped into one end of the box but it was plastic and you could barely feel the weight. Was pissed. Always check the box. Wanna see how the rope is knotted and where.
I have a flag pole mine is 20 foot solid black iron pipe 3” round 1/8” thick. It is a bitch to restring it. (Re rope it) But it doesn’t sway in the wind. Was just watching the video because I was needing another flag pole for another location. Thanks for the video.
WOW! Thats intense winds! These flag poles aren't the best... I hang 2 flags and watch it bend... I'm just waiting... I (oddly) like the creeking and rope hitting the pole noise- it reminds me of a boat dock.
This pole still up? I recently ordered one thinking the same everyone else thought and am regretting the purchase. If it lasts a year, I’m going to be getting one of the more expensive ones.
But you didn’t show the prep with concreting the sleeve in the ground and you didn’t show how the pole is secured to the sleeve. That’s the main part I wanted to see.
11secondeclipse sorry! It’s actually very easy- the pole just sits loose inside the sleeve so the wind can blow the flag and spin the pole. The sleeve is just sitting in the dirt when I put the concrete in..
That’s a flimsy flagpole. They really shouldn’t offer them over 20’ if the buttress doesn’t increase, which it definitely seems it doesn’t. You should be able to at least fly a 5x8 on a 30’ without worry. That looks like a cotton 5x9.5 casket flag you originally put up. The pole was swaying before the flag even unfulfilled. I really love that you added a flagpole, especially a 30’. It’s a great size. These poles are just cheap Chinese made junk that some guys who claim to be veterans are selling. The small US flag you’re flying is also made in China. These guys just found a way to make money, put in the words veteran owned and that makes people think they’re legit.
Agreed! There are better quality poles for sure. I do like this one and it flys 2 flags pretty well. I would take them down in a strong wind though... Thanks for sharing!
Pilot Jon I just hate to see you put in so much effort for a subpar pole. Old glory is known to sell Chinese made flags and poles and they can’t take winds over 30 mph with a flag.
@@davejoyal9286 did you ask them if they were made in China? I just looked on their website and it definitely doesn't say made in USA. I ordered one a little while back but haven't received it yet. I was thinking it was made in USA probably because of all the veteran owned stuff on their website. I bought my flag somewhere else and it was made in USA. I might return it and find one made here if it is indeed made in China. Thanks
@@davejoyal9286 thanks Dave. I appreciate it. I wish I would have known before I bought it. I guess I'll see what it looks like when it gets here. I know my flag is made in USA because I made sure of it. Guess I should've spent more time looking into the flagpole and not assumed because it was veteran owned and operated that it was made here.
It’s still there! I fly 2 flags 24 hours a day with spotlights at night. The wind really works the pole a lot! I expected it to snap a few times.. but it hasn’t failed yet.. when it does come time to replace it, I’ll go big with a solid pole- but that’s a lot of $$ for the price, I’m happy with this one

Thanks for the video, I just ordered a flag pole too. 20ft
Awesome! Hope you like it!
@@PilotJon does this setup installation apply for the 20ft as well?

Make your own, 2-10' galvanized fence posts, one slightly smaller in diameter than the other, bolted together. Other attachments get put on.
What's it like in the wind do you need to pull flag down if it's gale force
Good question! I take my flag down in 10 mph winds. When we get wind where I live it is usually pretty gusty
Wonder how it would do to mount a 6’ radio antenna on it and secure it about half way up to the house?
That could work for sure! I wanted lots of height so I went with this 30 footer
Glad to see you in your TH-cam'n shirt! I thought it got ruined!

Oh wow, glad I just saw this. I was about to order their flagpole. Your pole ruined with wind? I am an Army Veteran and wanted to support them.
Yes- it didn’t even last a season. I’m quite disappointed

What size is that flag?
Could you have set this up as a 20’ pole?
So suggestions for a average priced flagpole, and telescope or sectional?

On a 20' Old Glory pole where do the 2 set screws go. The picture shows 2 holes but the pole only has 1 hole. Please respond.
Same with me, it's not the same setup for the 20" by the looks of it.
Very interesting well done
Thank you!
Hey, the Cessnas are out of the shipping containers
Yeah buddy!!! I'm working on that video... and the planes- come fly sometime!
That sounds like a ton of fun, I will. Thanks for the invite.
