    Nice job. Like the idea of the chicken wire for added strength.

    There a EXCELLENT FLAG POLES I Got a 25' one. I dearly Love it. IF? The joints get stuck, pour water down in and around the joint. Left it up a few time and try to loosen it. If it don't get unstuck do it again. It should free up the dirt and sand down in the joints

    Hint: I bought a cheap Habor Freight 1/2 inch drill on sale for these types of digging projects. Also purchased a 24 inch x 2" auger bit.
    Using that to drill down and loosen dirt is So Much Easier than the post hole digger method.

    I got framers around that bails hay. ALL THAT DIRT GOES ON TO MY FLAG POLE... That how i free it up! 👍👍 .. So far it has with stand winds over 90 mph. with the flag on it. I couldn't get it down in time . And i wasn't about to get out into a storm, with winds like that 🙄🙄 what the flag did was? Folded up into a stream line, Which helped against the winds ---------> Also if you get a lot of winds. Like i do > on a hill top! Drop the pole down some. I drop my 5' to 20' high this makes it even stronger 💪💪

    You can pour the dry concrete mix directly into the hole and tamp down with a 2x4 and checking plumb as you go. For every bag follow with 5 gallons of water. Wait until the water completely percolates down thru the dry concrete and add another bag or until the concrete fills the hole. Been setting fence post this way for 42 years. Fast and easy.

      LOL 5 gallons of water for each bag? Wow whoever told you that you need to stay away from them! Everywhere else they state one gallon of water for each bag!

    • @MrLike2surf
      @MrLike2surf 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@JQUICK21 Yes, 5 gallons is WAY too much water.
      I recently bought some 50 lb quick set bags for fence posts. The bag instructions said to use a half of gallon of water in to the hole per bag. I did that and juked the mixture in the hole with a short piece of rebar. Worked great.

    How tall is your flagpole? also how much rocks did you put in the ground? I am using compound for easy removal and where would I get a cap for the sleeve? I may just end up using tape to cover the hole if I need to

    • @patshomeprojectsandmore5878
      @patshomeprojectsandmore5878  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for the questions. My flagpole is 25'. My soil is very sandy so I only put 4" of stone in the hole. If you have a lot of clay, you should dig deeper and add more stone. The cap came with the flagpole. Hope that answers your questions. Thanks for watching.

  • @outdoorguy845
    @outdoorguy845 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You can probably just put the concrete mix in the whole dry and periodically run water into the hole

  • @JQUICK21
    @JQUICK21 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Did the bottom end of the Sleeve have a covering over it like the top? Does it matter if that bottom is closed off?

    • @patshomeprojectsandmore5878
      @patshomeprojectsandmore5878  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The bottom of the sleeve sits on the gravel in the hole. This allows water to drain through. I did keep the blue cap and use it when I don't have the pole in. It keeps stones from falling into the sleeve or filling up with snow and ice during the winter. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching

      Good eye! My video stopped recording and by the time I realized it, the cement was poured. Since it was not a necessary step and to avoid confusion, I elected not to discuss it. Since you spotted it, I added some 1/4" galvanized hardware cloth as reinforcement in the concrete. Thanks for watching.

    Looks great. How many bags of Quickcrete did you use. pounds vs bags. I bought 3 - 80 lb bags. I hope I get to return one.
    Also liked the idea of small gravel in the bottom. So why the wire circumference fence?

    • @patshomeprojectsandmore5878
      @patshomeprojectsandmore5878  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Cherrie, I believe I used 3 bags. Make sure the sleeve pipe sits in the gravel and not blocked with concrete. You want water to be able to drain out. I used the metal mesh as added strength but not something that needs to be done. Thanks for the comment. Good luck with your project.

    • @patshomeprojectsandmore5878
      @patshomeprojectsandmore5878  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Nate, it's working great! The only issue is when the temp goes below freezing, and there is moisture on the pole. I was not able to retract the pole until later in the morning when it warmed up some. I usually have 2 flags on it. I am very satisfied. FYI- they come in different heights, so take a good measurement.

    PLUMB THE POLE WITH A 2' LEVEL ON THE SIDE OF THE POLE, "NOT THE TOP"! THE POLE ONCE PLUMB NEEDS TO BE LOCKED IN PLACE TO KEEP IT PLUMB. I HAVE VIEWED MANY FLAGPOLE INSTALLATIONS AND INSTALL A FEW FLAGPOLES AND THIS VIDEO IS NOT RECOMENDED TO USE FOR INSTALLATION OF A FLAGPOLE, TO MANY MISSED STEPS.
