@@goranwinblad insane effort ! doing it is already an exploit you should take great pride in ! even in my best shape i'd not even dare try something like this !👏
I took your advice at 16:30 "do some crazy things now and then". Ran 80 km (50 miles) last weekend for the first time in my life at a backyard ultra. Didn´t know I can do this until I did. And it was fun. Took me one week to recover. It was worth it. Great content as always! And beautiful scenery!
Yeah Oscar did a great job following me the first part up Slogen! And Jonne took those epic drone shots + followed me for a bit higher up the mountain 😊
Great video and superb effort! Kilian is an aboslute unit! He just won Sierre-Zinal with an avg pace of 4:34min/km for 32k and 2'313m+. That's just insane.
@@hisdud3ness93 up until this point of time THE best. he is winning in runs he won 17 years ago and still keeps setting records. such a out of normality- athlete!
Kilian did indeed race well at Sierre-Zinal (and totally blew away Remi Bonnet). But for me the real story was that a Kenyan runner - Philemon Ombogo KIRIAGO was just a few seconds behind. And two more Kenyan runners in 3rd and 4th place. It's wonderful to see signs of the new generation coming through,.
Erlend Ukvitne set a world record there this summer; he ran up with a paraglider on his back and flew down. Fourteen times. In one day. 16178 vertical meters 🤯
Really makes me wonder if anyone has ever attempted (or completed) a vertical marathon. Obviously, even for the best athletes, it would take days to complete.
@MegaYouNiko Yes it’s a sport that originates in cycling from the Zwift online platform taken into the real world called Everesting. Verical height of Everest in less than a day without stopping Cycle, run or skimo are the normal ways. Not that many people run it as you can imagine.
Beast! I barely do 10km in 45min but feeling like I should try this! I'm happy that Jonne (unlazy way) and you are doing stuff together! I've been waiting for the collaboration !
Great job! To put this into perspective of the normal people: a climb rate of 400m/h = normal healthy people hiking, 600m/h = sporty, 800m/h super sporty, 1170m/h = Göran crazy sporty, 2000m/h = Jornet out-of-this-world ultra-elite sporty.
Great job both on the running and the video producing as always Göran! Like you said, seeing you do this challenge really drives home how insane the performance of the best of the best really is.
Just today Göran I did a route in the Pyrenees that Kilian did last year. It’s a very technical negative 1300 meters. I remember Kilian did it in 25 mins (after more than 15000k on his legs and 10 3000m summits done). He is a monster, no words 😮
I think this challenge would have taken me all day. It's great to have the comparaison with you, someone that is very good with Kilian... makes you realise how insanely impressive he is.
Wow, crazy achievement. I have hiked up and down that mountain as a day-hike, and it was the steepest hike I've ever made. It's like >1500 vertical meters in 2-3km horisontal. The kids were running in circles around me, though, and at the top we met Norwegian school classes that do this as a normal school excursion...
Well done Göran! At my fittest (age 42) i could ascend 15m/ min on the typical mountain path in the UK lake district. Alas nowhere near that now, and I'm only 46 😅
This is really nice! When Killian does something like this it’s just otherworldly. I really like to see how someone with a more “normal” fitness level does on such a challenge. My PB on the 10k is 36:52, so this is almost relatable, but still very impressive :).
Great effort. I find it is the downhill that kills your legs, quads in particular, especially if you can’t train enough on the hills. At age 60 I did my first VK, just over one hour, though slightly easier terrain and not as steep. If I can manage a time less than double the race winner it is a win for me…but if Killian enter that rule is out the window! I will be in Norway next summer, maybe I should test myself on that hill…but not the ten K.
I think he called it VK10K. It was mind numbing.my friends and I in New Zealand wanted to try this since we have a VK nearby. Unfortunately we never got to make time for it.
Kilian just puts into perspective that trail and mountain runners are not some crazy amateurs doing their thing, but just as fit as world class marathon runners or other more mainstream athletes...
Oof, running 10k in under 44 minutes after that crazy climb is hella impressive in its own right! Just out of curiosity, how long did it take you to recover from this insane effort?
Killian did it with Poles, which you might also have wanted to use, to conserve the legs a bit. Edit: Just reached the point where you mentioned you forgot them.
Love your Content Göran. But is an optical heart rate monitor really reliable?. Seen a lot of reviews, including the scientist from Austria. All conclusions are = chest strap only way to go. Unless your are sponsored.
Glad to hear you like the content 😊Yeah when I compared to a chest strap with the optical one on the biceps the readings were almost identical and I never had any weird readings from the optical one on the biceps like I always get when I just use the optical one on the wrist. So for me it has been really reliable, maybe it don’t work as well for everybody, I can only speak from my own experiences. @@brum293 Yeah I mostly do cycling with power and if you're talking about vo2max then the assumption is you can hold that power for a max of 6/8 minutes. So I applied that to running with HR, but looking at HR I ( not elite unfortunately 😅) myself have done 60-90 minute efforts at 90% of max.
