Hi Debbie, here's a little story for you...
About a year ago my son was having trouble with school buses and for a few months I took to driving him the 30 mins to school and collecting him again at the end of the day.
At the time he was listening to all sorts of stuff and top of his listening was rap (!)
In the car I have a MP3 CD of all Nightwish albums - all nine. So it goes through their entire work from beginning to and as I drive.
For a couple of weeks my son sat with his headphones on listening to his stuff. Then he stopped doing that.
A few weeks later he started asking me a lot of questions about Nightwish, the band members, their history etc.
One evening he came down from his homework and told me Spotify was strange - it had given him listening stats and told him his most listened to songs were now Nightwish, closely followed by some other band, rap I think.
The odd thing, he said, was that he had listed to Nightwish 449 times and the "close second" was about 70 times.
This was a boy who listened mostly to rap
When I asked him what his favourite was he said he wasn't sure but one of them was "Our Decades in the Sun".
Not what I expected from a 16 year old boy.

It's not often done on YT, but a very touching song. I understand that the whole band had some trouble recording it owing to emotions and Floor missed her cue in the studio, when they looked in the vocal booth, she was a sobbing pile on the ground.
Previously they will not do it on stage as a complete band, too "dangerous". . . . . . .I believe that maybe changed.

This is the song "Our Decades in the Sun a Nightwish song wrote by Tuomas & Marco on the "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" album . its from Floor's 1st album with Nightwish and its a Tribute to there parents
After Beste Zangers Floor added this song to her setlist on her solo shows. Lots of tears were shed! Nightwish also performed it a few times in the last year. Very unique as its a super emotional song for every single person in the band! Such a beautiful song ❤
Samantha is a fantastic singer. Her performance on the first episode of “Het geeft niet / Mi Manchi” was wonderful.
Now you really need to react to the song that Floor sang that Samantha wrote about her mother called "Mama". Very powerful.
She did really well on that whole song, but, man, from about @7:41 to @8:01, the first time it kinda hit that harder rock part, she was killing that...
So many more great songs on the beste zangers for you to react. Love the story about your dad he sounds fun to be around.
I grew up with Dutch neighbours and my kids are half-Dutch. Some good friends in The Netherlands too. This was great!

Now you should check out the original one by Nightwish. There is a pretty good fancam from a show in Zurich you can look up. It is very recent that they started playing it live, and they're playing it acoustic with Troy just like that how's the heart video. There's also a version from Floor's solo show that is amazing.
That season was best ever. All the singers performed outstanding - and really gave everything they had, plus more while they went outside their comfort zones.

More Beste Zangers 2019 songs please ..... All the songs in Episode 4 are great where Floor Jansen is in the hotspot. Do them all I would recommend.
One of THE highlights, when I went to see Nightwish in December last year. I didn't want to spoil myself knowing anything about their setlist before (although it became pretty hard towards the end ;-) ), and I still had in mind what they'd said back then: that this song would probably never being played live, cause some members would be too affected by it. So when Floor and Troy were preparing themselves on stage for an accoustic session, I thought they'd now gonna play "How's the heart". Well, what a wonderful surprise, when I heard the first few tones of "Our decades in the sun".

Nightwish never performed this live , to hard for them to do it .....up until this last tour , they do an acoustic version ( theres a fan cam vid of it) Floor does it at her solo show in Amsterdam and its amazing .

Gee, I guess this means you'll have to do Nightwish - Our Decades In The Sun from Wacken next, right? What a beautiful song...Samantha did a great job with her rendition of it. Your dad is such a sweetheart for doing that for the ladies in his building...such a heartwarming story! I wish my parents were still around so I could talk to them again. They never got to meet their granddaughter, which sucks badly. They always asked when me and my wife were gonna have kids and we held off doing so until it was too late...they had both passed away by then. It's the biggest regret I have in my life, not having a child earlier so that they could meet my parents. Life goes on though. Your grandchildren are beautiful, grandbruh! PS...the title translates to "I Am Always Close To You". Cheers!

Samantha's personal music is not my thing, but that doesnt say anything about her voice and skills, because "Sam" can sing.. no she can sang!!
I loved all her performances and was well impressed with her range and personality, she's a fun lady to say the least.

Wellwellwell. You got me thinking. But maybe not the way you intended to. Which has nothing to do with your beautiful idea. But last time I called my dad to tell him I love him, all of our relationship went straight down the drain, all mayhem (And it was kinda a whole lot better already at that point - before that one call - after years of not so okay). I don't know what happened - only that it was a bad bad idea. And that's kinda sad. But after trying some soon 50 years I think enough is enough. No power to try no more. Cannot do miracles. Some things you just have to live with. And it's just possible I'll lose him things being like this. I just cannot, anymore. Not again. He's not a bad guy. He's just.. Just call it best singers. We understand. If you want to say it in Dutch, you should say the beste (with the e spoke as (e)x. And zangers with a sounds like law. So beste (e' like ex) S, a like law, angers.
As for the Dutch lesson: The "th" is just pronounced as a "t" in Dutch. So, it is Samanta. I will not go into "Steenwijk" That is for much, much later. As for the song, well, it is not my cup of tea. It goes into the direction of the Amsterdam style folk songs that I just don't like.
I doubt that we'll ever see Samantha on this channel again, so the pronunciation of her last name doesn't matter. And it's pretty much hopeless trying to teach an American how to pronounce foreign words anyway.
