I'm Dutch and I didn't know about Beste Zangers until this season with Floor. I love that you love the spirit of this show. Many other reaction channels from the States just say "Floor is a goddess and those other singers don't match her standard". Very much in line with the American stereotypical idea of 'only the number one matters'. This show is not a contest, because our culture is very egalitarian and this show matches that mindset. It is not a competition, but more like: "Let's all get together, accept our differences and enjoy each other's qualities". You seem to understand that!
Also the title can be translated 2 ways. Best singers or dear singers. Dear singers suits the vibe of the show much more. I love how they have fun and really inspire eachother.
I feel exactly the same about this show! The prejudices beetween the genres being erased. Before even trying to sing something out of their comfort zone they had to go inside themselves and find the connection, in order to sing it well and emotionally communicate with the person they are singing too. Even Floor said she thought she had nothing in common with Emma, but still ended amazed with her performance. Also metal and folk are the most confronted, yet the song Our decades in the sun is about family, which is common theme in songs Samantha sings. She ended up singing even rockier version of it, then Nightwish originally did. I love how Floor smiled when she started belting. In the end, only singing from the heart can make that deep connection and that's what makes music so precious.
I don't know about metal and folk being confronted, like at least Nightwish has tons of folkish melancholy songs resembling Dutch "levenslied" if arranged differently. In Finland there is similar genre called "Iskelmä" - schlager and there was one singer Maria Lund who made "iskelmä" cover of "Sleeping Sun" in Finnish as "Uinuva aurinko" th-cam.com/video/a9lk4SzJk5k/w-d-xo.html which was considered almost sacrilegious by Finnish Nightwish fans at that time. In the end it's of course a matter of singer and the interpretation, I doubt that Nighwish fans are against Samantha's version especially because of the acceptance of it by Floor. In fact Johanna, wife of Tuomas is a "schlager singer" and even Tuomas himself has composed one song "Satojen merien näkijä" for her. th-cam.com/video/l0UFr_0jNEU/w-d-xo.html
Another beautiful intelligent reaction, Samantha does a great job ! Have you ever heard Floor sing this song?, her beautiful rendition is another tear-jerker... Apparently NightWish will never sing this song live, It's just too emotional & personal !!
Samantha has such a wonderful deep smoky voice and can make any song her own (and she's the only one to choose a song from a Nightwish album that actually had Floor on it)
Yep, Samantha being a beautiful alto, and Floor with her soprano would definitely balance each other beautifully. That's something that I'd like to see as well.
'Our Decades in the sun' is a beautiful ballad song from the last NW album. The song was dedicated to our beloved parents, and yes it's an emotional song indeed.
This show exists for 10 years already. Im dutch and I didnt know, so its very lovely to see you appreciate this show so much, eventhough it was because of Floor in the first place. Ive watched this version from Samantha in dutch and later the Nightwish version in the english language. But to be honest the version of Samantha really touched me❣ I couldnt hold my tears. Her range/voice may not be as good as that from Floor as they say, but her voice has so much color, warmth and she sings with so much depth and emotion. Her own song Mama is also a jewel.
I love your reactions and your knowledge of singing. You become more and more an ambassador for Dutch artists and I'm sure they love it. Greetings from the Netherlands

I admire your positive approach to this show (and to the music in general), so new subscriber here. This Nightwish song was never played live before, so Samantha's live version, in Dutch, was a premiere. She sang also the original "Mama" song, covered by Floor 3 weeks ago. It's obvious there is a great respect and admiration between Samantha and Floor. Thanks.
Language is no barrier when its song very, very good. Just like these awesome artist to. And what is better tehen to sing to a godess wirh a heavenly voice.?
Great & informative reaction as always. This format has also spread into Finland where I live. The name of the TV show in here is "Vain Elämää", which means "Only Life" in English. It's been running here since 2012. As others have already told you, Samantha's song was a Dutch version of Nightwish's "Our Decades in the Sun" - a song Tuomas wrote to honor his parents & all parents in general as well. When they recorded the song for their latest album "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" released in 2015, they had to struggle not to cry. Floor especially had a hard time not to cry as her parents had just visited her in Finland and returned to the Netherlands just a day before. In fact this song is so emotional for them that Tuomas said in an interview that they will never perform it live. P.S. Finally subscribed.
This was indeed a great song but the stand-out performance for me was from Emma singing a song written by Floor (while she still was in After Forever) called "Strong" about her mother who has chronic Rheuma but often hides her pain for her children. Emma selected the song because her mother is cancer survivor and she said she would love to say these things to her own mother. She really surprised and convinced me with this song.
And Valerie praised the performance very highly here. :-) "Strong" is such a beautiful song and yet it is not what you would call complex. Although, it is an emotional sucker-punch.
I confess, that it is a surprise, something I would not have guessed, that Emma among all the singers besides Floor, would give the performance that shook me the deepest so far. Emma is releasing an album of her own songs soon. I hope she hits it big.
Samantha is an amazing vocalist and did a great job. I still think Emma had the best performance of the week. I heard the shout out to Denise so I asked her on discord if she paid you haha. All of us that watch her translated versions really appreciate it and look forward to it every week. I can't wait to here Floor and Henk do Phantom of the Opera.
Hi the song in English is called 'Our Decades in the Sun' it's from the Nightwish album 'Endless Forms Most Beautiful' an album about the evolution of life on earth
More information about the singers in (allready the 12th season of) this show: -Samatha Steenwijk: Sings Dutch folklore since 2009 and runner up in the Voice of Holland 2018, which made her more famous in the Netherlands. Like Floor she has a very strong and powerfull voice. - Ruben Annink. Won the Dutch TV show Singer/Songwriter and in the spring of his career. Writes his own songs. - Rolf Sanchez : Latin/Salsa/Reggaeton singer with 3 no 1 hits in the American Billboard Tropical Songs Chart, including the song Que Se Siente that Floor sang for him in the previous episode. He works with Guianko Gómez, producer of Marc Anthony. Like Floor better known outside than inside The Netherlands, especially in Latin America. - Henk Poort :. Very well known Opera/Operette/Musical singer in the Netherlands for whom Floor sang the Vilja song. Sang the dutch version of The Phantom of the Opera (spoiler: He and Floor will sing that duet in the last episode) - Tim Akkerman Former : member of the Dutch rockband Di-Rect (1999-2009) and now having a career of his own. His latest album contains American Rock influenced by Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam and Ryan Adams. - Emma Heesters: Has her own YouTybe Cover channel with more than 1 million followers. Working on her first album in the USA at Universal Republic Records with multi-platinum and Grammy Award winning record producers and writers -And of course Floor jansen The front woman of NightWish she is now the center of this episode. Note: Floor is considering singing Spanish for the Nightwish fans in Latin America and Rolf has pledged his cooperation to help her with the Spanish pronunciation.
They have such a big connection, Floor and Samantha. They both have written and sung songs about their parents and without knowing they chose those specific songs to sing for each other (Mama from Samantha sang by Floor and Ik ben altijd dichtbij jou/Decades in the sun from Floor by Samantha)
its floor her own song. Its about she is living in sweden now, so far from her family. That every goodbye is so hard. So she sings "mama i am always close 2 you, i feel your tears everytime i leave"...
bedoelde een nummer door haar zelf gezongen en dus niet een cover van een andere band die ze voor haar zong...maar dat heb ik dus niet goed over gebracht. bedankt voor de verbetering mijn excuus
@@richardjanssen9732 no it's not, Tuomas himself said it was for all the bandmembers parents, not only for Floor. Since he wrote the song, I choose to believe him 😉
I loved this group of singers. I ended up loving them all! Their stories are so powerful and I loved how vulnerable and supportive everyone was. Beautiful singers, all!
Love the way you talk Dutch. Great your comments about Beste Zangers. Finally everybody in the Netherlands knows Floor now, she is hot over here with a sold out solo theater tour and the Ziggo Dome with Nightwish.

It's Ibiza and all singers come have different backgrounds....some of them we have learned to know through this show others were famous already from tv. It's a nice format which runs for several years now. Samantha is a pure Dutch popsinging singer. During this show she also sings in English en Italian which is out of her comfort zone.
Just for a bit of clarification, although you did dive in this show very well and I agree totally with the aggression and pumped up ways American TV shows and contests are nowadays... : The show is broadcasted on the Dutch public service television, by the organisation AvroTros (fusion between 2). But it is made for them and internationally franchised by a commercial program maker (FTV). This is season 12 of De Beste Zangers and it started in 2009, Jan Smit is the third host and started in 2012. They also had a eurovision version and this time also a online competition, searching for a new TH-cam singer. That episode will be recorded at the same location but will only be aired on TH-cam. Coincidentally Ftv also has a program where the band where Tim used to be in (Di-Rect) takes over a hotel. They also made similar programs like this, where the current host (Jan Smit, also a singer) did road trips through (or just visited) a few countries and had guest singers coming and going along the trip.. (and some more programs where he did travel with other singers). Like mentioned before, it is worth watching the previous years of this show with singers/groups like Tommie Christiaan (mega versatile), O'G3ne (amazing sisters), Glennis Grace (AGT Finalist), Davina Michelle and opera singers like Tania Kross and Maria Fiselier.. and many others... And to conclude this wasting of your time: the English language adjective of Netherlands is Dutch. Like the English language exonym and demonym is also. The endonym is Nederlands and Nederlandse BTW, so you say it almost like we do, and all should! In short (😂): a German TV show isn't a Germany show, making a TV show from the Netherlands a Dutch show. I won't start about the Netherlands being a kingdom with 4 countries, of which the Netherlands is also a country. And that we do have a border with France (nice trick question for friends). Always do what you enjoy and don't forget to continue being as awesome as you are!
Let me give you an English phonetic hand with some of the Dutch names :o) - Floor Yahnzen - Samantha Stainwaaik - Hank Port - Emma Haysters The others are just as-is. - Tim Akkerman - Ruben Annink - Rolf Sanchez The presenter is also a singer in his own right: Jan Smit.
Samantha sang the night wish song ..Our decades in the sun..Samantha translated it into Dutch. If you listened to the Night Wish song, then you also know the lyrics what she sings.
you are partially correct, she did not directly translate it, she rewrote parts of it herself to make it her own. but the overall sentiment is very similar ;)
to explain what kind of singer Samantha is I have many Dutch words that I translate into English. Samantha is a Dutch "Volkszanger" literally translation is that folk singer or singer of the people. she usually sings smartlappen or bitter sweet songs about lost love and heartbreak and sometimes about getting over it. and drinking in cafes and bars is usually common. it is, in the Netherlands, a major form of entertainment. but it is definitely not my style but I do appreciate how good she is with her voice.
Hello Valerie, This is set on Ibiza a small island that lies in the Mediterranean Sea The nice thing about this show is that there is no Manager, no family, no friends. So they can say anything they want without anyone looking over their shoulder and who corrects them.
Good reaction to a beautiful song, and you explained very well why I too like this show. Some hopefully positively received notes though about your pronunciation of "Samantha Steenwijk" and "Ik ben altijd dicht bij jou" though ... The 'h' in 'th' in Dutch is a silent letter, and 'th' sounds like a hard 't', so 'Samantha' sounds like 'Samanta'. The first and second 'a' in Samantha are like the 'a' in 'far'. The 'ee' in Steenwijk is like the 'ai' in stain, the 'ij' is a long 'i' like the i 'fight', and in Dutch the 'k' is a hard k. So Steenwijk is like Stainw(i)k. As for 'Ik ben altijd dicht bij jou' ... 'Ik' is like 'ick'. Again, a hard k. 'Ben' is like the name 'Ben', so that's easy. 'Altijd' has that 'ij' again, like the i in the word 'fight'. 'Dicht' has the 'ch' sound that doesn't quite exist in the english language, but 'sh' is close enough I suppose. 'Bij' has that 'eye' sound again. 'Jou' is like the 'yow' in 'yowl'.
The "ch" sound is a guttural, which the english language doesn't have. I've heard it described as a soft "g" produced at the back of the throat a bit like a gentle clearing the throat which is pretty close. My mum is Dutch so I've grown up with it and though I've never learned to properly speak Dutch, I was taught how to do it as a kid by my grandparents. lol!
I don't know if anyone explained it yet, but Samanta isn't a folksinger, there's something lost in translation. In Dutch she's known als een Volkszanger, wich is something like a singer of the people. Thematicly it is close to country, but it sounds more poppy and is mixed with traditional Dutch music. It is best enjoyed in a bar with a couple of beers.
My wings are spread, open, big and wide. I walk on/with my own legs on a road made by you for me. Mama, I'm always close to you. I feel your tears every time I go, but I am you, I carry your love with me, we are one together. Papa, I'm always close to you. I feel your tears every time I go, but I am you, I carry your love with me, we are one together. You taught me to be me, you live in me, this is for you, this is for you, this is for you. Your wings were nice/ fine, protected/sheltered me against/from suffering and pain. You've got the heart of a true friend. I already miss you, while you're still here. Mama, I'm always close to you. I feel your tears every time I go, but I am you, I carry your love with me, we are one together. Papa, I'm always close to you, I feel your tears every time I go, but I am you. I carry your love with me. You are in me forever. ( these are the beautiful heartfelt lyrics, for Mama and Papa or for any beloved person in our lives).
here the translation of the song, because of the voice of samantha it is actually not even necessary she is like you said a real storyteller My wings are spread Open, large and wide I walk on my own two feet On a road made by you for me Mama, I'm always close to you I feel your tears every time I go But I'm you I carry your love with me We are one together Daddy, I'm always close to you I feel your tears every time I go But I'm you I carry your love with me You are in me forever You learned to be "me", you live in me This is for you This is for you This is for you Your wings were fine Protected me for suffering and pain You have the heart of a true friend I miss you already while you are still here Mama, I'm always close to you I feel your tears every time I go But I'm you I carry your love with me We are one together Daddy, I'm always close to you I feel your tears every time I go But I'm you I carry your love with me You are in me forever
there is one other thing you need to know about the show "Beste Zangers", although we wait for a week for the next episode, the entire season (7 episodes) is recorded in 1 WEEK !!!! so the artists have to research and make the song their own beforehand, and then they go to Ibiza and practice with the band and record an episode a day.
wim van den Bosch No, no, they only stay 4 to 5 days on Ibiza and record several episodes a day. The singers get abt 5 months beforehand time to choose the songs and rehearse.
You should react to the Nightwish version "Our decades In the sun" the band wont even play this song live because they get to emotional......Samantha did great job on this
Hello Valerie, at the previous edition of Best Singers, an opera singer participated in it, she did a Rap song Lose Yourself by Eminem, can you imagine this, opera and rap there is no bigger difference but she did it: Maria Fiselier - Lose Yourself | Beste Zangers 2018 @
Loved it, too. Just ignore the comments she's not Eminem. The same goes, for example, for Maan's take on Nessun Dorma (th-cam.com/video/xM44CALD1JI/w-d-xo.html). That she's not classically trained makes it all the more interesting!
Samantha stole the show for me last week. There were a number of good performances but Samantha really "got" Floor's sound and strayed out of her comfort zone to please her.
8:40 yeah, she is known all over the world, sold over 9.000.000 albums, is The Netherlands most selling artist, but no one knows her... the only guitars on radio are Guns 'n Roses, Bon Jovi and some Metallicrap
It's recorded on Ibiza Spain, not that very deserted in Europa actually. Nevertheless just love ur reaction video's, makes me feel so chauvinistic. And you rock grey hair, so beautiful!
We'll forgive your very German pronunciation, foreign languages are hard.😉 Samantha sings what we call levensliederen, life songs or smartlappen, sorrow songs. It's a tradition found in both the Netherlands and Germany. In fact the host used to be active as an international singer in that very genre since he was a kid. The genre isn't really folk but it has a folk subject. They're songs about everyday life. Quite often about the struggles it brings. It's a bit singular as these days it's seen as unsophisticated. In part merely because it has always been popular with the lower class and the subject matter is rather 'simple'. I guess in a way it's closer to country then folk if that makes any sense?
@@mormacil allright yeah well the one thing I added was how singing in English is in my opinion still the norm in The Netherlands but I think singing (and rapping) in Dutch is slowly making a come-back. ;)
@@tarsiusbancanus5279 I wouldn't know, I basically stopped listening to radio over a decade ago. My taste is eclectic but most of all not shared by the mainstream radio at all. But yeah most Dutch bands I listen to sing in English.
@@mormacil to be honest, listening to radio is pretty old-fashioned, the digital medium rules nowadays. So the mainstream is diversifying due to that anyway while radiostations have less and less influence over what becomes a hit or not.
"folk" is kind of a misnomer. In the US it means something differrent. Samantha sings "het levenslied" which means "the life-song". The style is pretty much pop, but the subject matter is always personal experiences and empathic songs. The style has been scoffed at by a part of the mainstream in the Netherlands for a long time because it's simplistic and "unsophisticated". Singing in English is still the norm I think in The Netherlands but singing (and rapping) in Dutch is slowly making a come-back. EDIT: The original song from Nightwish is called "Our Decades In The Sun". It was never performed live unfortunately.
I think you summarize it quite well. Within the genre "levenslied" there are quite a lot of songs that are definitely "unsophisticated" in lyrics and composition, most of the time they are ment to be fun and not to be taken to seriously. Then there are the songs that go over the top in trying to be serious or a tearjerker, so much so it's enough to make one squirm. And sometimes someone in this genre makes a real gem.
First of all, I am posting here a link to the original by Nightwish - th-cam.com/video/8NC7259TPgE/w-d-xo.html Both Floor and Samantha chose songs that included mothers. "Our Decades in the Sun" is a song that the band members decided never to perform live, because they would go into pieces on the stage - very emotional. During recording of this song Floor could not help but cry a lot, because her mother just left for Netherlands. You can see it as a tribute song to band members´ parents. Samantha did a great job with it. Here is also a link to Samantha and Floor chatting live on Instagram about the show (subtitles need to be loaded from some other website that is in video´s description down below) - th-cam.com/video/4PdN-K6Guxc/w-d-xo.html
Hmmm, how would i describe "Dutch folk pop", in a way that does credit to the genre. I guess i'd describe it as "Songs of life" and "Tear jerkers" combined in a somewhat pop style music, but that description on itself, doesnt do the genre much credit, eventho its accurate. The lyrics are usually about emotions, love, anger, loss, sadness, the things we come across in our daily lives, family is an important subject too in most of these songs. And its set to the more traditional style in music (instruments changed over time, but the "vibe" is similar to the traditional style) I guess you can compare it best to.. for the USA, certain types of country music, where the music style still follows traditional paths, but has grown along with developments in music, yet where the lyrics still focus on life lessons, love and loss etc. So.. i guess i'm saying, Dutch traditional folk/pop is similar to traditional country music, eventho the genres themselves, are miles apart in how they sound. While it isnt a favorite style for me, i do have mad respect for the singers in that style, because most of them are vocal powerhouses, who just make crappy music hehehe (not all of them do, but yeah... some are, to say the least, NOT to my liking lol) But Samantha is a bit of an exception for me, her songs are good, her voice is great, and she herself, is a lovely and funny lady.
Floor is a pure metal woman. Nightwish has nothing to do with it. She Sang/composed in her first band After Forever, then in Re-Vamp. She made a side project with a Norwegian rocker, the project is Northward. Love your review/reaction :) Keep them coming :)

If you watch the show, there is a part with Floor and Samantha where she is talking about how she NEVER wears leather and that she got that leather dress just to sing this song to Floor. It was very touching and funny at the same time. Great show. You know it would be great to see all of them singing. Please do Rolf singing "Hotel California" to Floor, such a cool version he did for her. th-cam.com/video/yktsfh2sEv8/w-d-xo.html
Folk music is not really a good translation for what Samantha does, wat she does we call volksmuziek (volks muziek) which would more accurately translate to People's music. It is more akin to German and Austrian Schlager music (not the same as, but those genres and volksmuziek are close cousins, in fact several dutch artists in that genre have had success with germanised verions of their songs in Germany, Jan Smit the presenter of the show being one of those artists)... Also, I guess you could call Ibiza in April (off season) a deserted Island, if you have a lot of imagination ;-) (just having a bit of fun here)
Dutch "folk music" mostly means songs sang in dutch for the lower classes. A little bit what country is in the US I imagine. Often they tell a sentimental life storie. But I think you are right to say Samantha sings more pop like songs, but in dutch. Because most popular music in the Netherlands tends to be sang in english, dutch songs are put under "volksmuziek" i.e. dutch folk music.
I studied German in school and I've sung lots of German opera, so that's my default. lol I don't know Dutch at all although the language fascinates me. I also know some Swedish, which is another Germanic language. So similar yet so different!

Translation of Samantha's Decades in the Sun(I am always close to you)

But I am you

We are one
Father, I'm always close to you
I feel your tears every time I leave
But I am you
I carry your love with me
You are forever in me
You taught me to be 'me'
You live in me

I watched the whole show, I wasn't expecting this, what a stunning performance from Samantha
Our Decades in the Sun is a very emotional song and Nightwish very rarely does it live because they are brought to tears.
To be precise.. Samantha improvised Our Decade In The Sun & wrote her own lyrics
Great reaction as always 👍👍👍
I admire your positive approach to this show (and to the music in general), so new subscriber here. This Nightwish song was never played live before, so Samantha's live version, in Dutch, was a premiere. She sang also the original "Mama" song, covered by Floor 3 weeks ago. It's obvious there is a great respect and admiration between Samantha and Floor. Thanks.
Did you see their chat - Floor with Samantha?
@@Immortall1408 Yes, it was posted on NW Discord on September 4th, on #nightwish-general-vids. Thanks.

Her genre is "smartlap" or "levenslied" (story of life). If you search on André Hazes, you'll know what it is exactly. :)
It is my sister And i also really loveeeee this song in both ways 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 And really love all the people who also love my sister And het Voice ❤️❤️❤️

Just a few days ago, Valerie already reacted to that video. You might want to go into her channel and see it.
Hi the song in English is called 'Our Decades in the Sun'
it's from the Nightwish album 'Endless Forms Most Beautiful'
an album about the evolution of life on earth
More information about the singers in (allready the 12th season of) this show:
-Samatha Steenwijk: Sings Dutch folklore since 2009 and runner up in the Voice of Holland 2018, which made her more famous in the Netherlands.
Sang the dutch version of The Phantom of the Opera (spoiler: He and Floor will sing that duet in the last episode)
- Tim Akkerman Former : member of the Dutch rockband Di-Rect (1999-2009) and now having a career of his own. His latest album contains American Rock influenced by Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam and Ryan Adams.
- Emma Heesters: Has her own YouTybe Cover channel with more than 1 million followers. Working on her first album in the USA at Universal Republic Records with multi-platinum and Grammy Award winning record producers and writers
-And of course Floor jansen The front woman of NightWish she is now the center of this episode. Note: Floor is considering singing Spanish for the Nightwish fans in Latin America and Rolf has pledged his cooperation to help her with the Spanish pronunciation.
A Henk and Floor duet? Phantom of the Opera, no less! I can't wait, that's going to be amazing!
This is not her own song. It's written by Tuomas, ofcourse it has special meaning to her singing it, but it's not hers.

The show is broadcasted on the Dutch public service television, by the organisation AvroTros (fusion between 2).
Let me give you an English phonetic hand with some of the Dutch names :o)

Samantha sang the night wish song ..Our decades in the sun..Samantha translated it into Dutch. If you listened to the Night Wish song, then you also know the lyrics what she sings.
you are partially correct, she did not directly translate it, she rewrote parts of it herself to make it her own. but the overall sentiment is very similar ;)

@@similartracks your right, my bad
@@ericgijsbertsen46 youre not the only 1 lol
to explain what kind of singer Samantha is I have many Dutch words that I translate into English.
This about sums up how I feel about some 'Schlager' singers in Germany :).
My mum is Dutch so I've grown up with it and though I've never learned to properly speak Dutch, I was taught how to do it as a kid by my grandparents. lol!
Haha funny deserted island, Ibiza is a big party island. Love youre vids!
I haver never heard of Ibiza so I was just making a wild guess! lol
Thank you for the explanation. That makes sense to me. :)
The show is record on ibiza

...if you watched the whole show, Samantha translated the NW song "Our decades in the sun" into Dutch for Floor 🙂
look at this song it is graet Tania Kross & Tommie Christiaan - Barcelona | Beste Zangers
there is one other thing you need to know about the show "Beste Zangers", although we wait for a week for the next episode, the entire season (7 episodes) is recorded in 1 WEEK !!!! so the artists have to research and make the song their own beforehand, and then they go to Ibiza and practice with the band and record an episode a day.
wim van den Bosch No, no, they only stay 4 to 5 days on Ibiza and record several episodes a day. The singers get abt 5 months beforehand time to choose the songs and rehearse.
'i am always close to you'
The English pronunciation of Steenwijk, closest to the Dutch sounds, would be something like stain-why-k 😊
Beste Zangers 2020 starts in September
You should react to the Nightwish version "Our decades In the sun" the band wont even play this song live because they get to emotional......Samantha did great job on this
Sadly, Denise Hofs' translated videos have been taken down by the TV station on copyright grounds. For shame!
They rather sing for a crowd then singing for 7 singers, the host is also a famous in Holland,Jan Smit. He has a lot of hits, you should check it out !
Denise ❤
Well I made a comment but you pretty much said what I wanted to say ;) oh well
@@tarsiusbancanus5279 Feel free to correct any mistakes or provide neat little insights I missed ;)
No one went near Floor's heaviest group, Revamp. You should check out Revamp - Disdain live at Graspop 2010
First of all, I am posting here a link to the original by Nightwish - th-cam.com/video/8NC7259TPgE/w-d-xo.html
Both Floor and Samantha chose songs that included mothers.
Ibiza is the island
Hmmm, how would i describe "Dutch folk pop", in a way that does credit to the genre.
I guess i'd describe it as "Songs of life" and "Tear jerkers" combined in a somewhat pop style music, but that description on itself, doesnt do the genre much credit, eventho its accurate.
The lyrics are usually about emotions, love, anger, loss, sadness, the things we come across in our daily lives, family is an important subject too in most of these songs.
And its set to the more traditional style in music (instruments changed over time, but the "vibe" is similar to the traditional style)
I guess you can compare it best to.. for the USA, certain types of country music, where the music style still follows traditional paths, but has grown along with developments in music, yet where the lyrics still focus on life lessons, love and loss etc.
So.. i guess i'm saying, Dutch traditional folk/pop is similar to traditional country music, eventho the genres themselves, are miles apart in how they sound.
While it isnt a favorite style for me, i do have mad respect for the singers in that style, because most of them are vocal powerhouses, who just make crappy music hehehe (not all of them do, but yeah... some are, to say the least, NOT to my liking lol)
But Samantha is a bit of an exception for me, her songs are good, her voice is great, and she herself, is a lovely and funny lady.
Dutch song, she is a new dutch singer
Its Ibiza in Spain
