  • Here's Anita Harris with her version of the Leslie Bricusse song "You And I." The song is from the musical version of "Goodbye Mr. Chips."

This girl could sing. Blimey could she sing.
I have to wonder why she's a vocal footnote & the only thing i can come up with is some of the bad choices she made that turned out to be massively successful. I mean, the awfulness of "Just Loving You" may have appealed to the emotionally unstable en masse for 5 minutes in 1967 but when it's what you're remembered for, it's damaging. I remember her for her glorious failures ("London Life" / "Somebody's in My Orchard") &... well, the legs obviously.

I can't think of anyone who was more beautiful than Anita Harris in the sixties and early seventies. I was in her fan club run by a lady called Aileen. I've still got the club card with one of Anita's Afghans on it.

Beautiful lady! like this as well as the Pet Clarke version. '...making memories.....that light the sky...' they sure knew how to arrange songs back then, unlike the clinical and lifeless stuff these days. The singer rarely sings with the orchestra, when they do it still sounds rubbish. Like michael Bubble or whatever his name is, for example.

I just love this. I play it over and over. How Anita didn't attain further chart success after the timeless Just Loving You and London Life, is a mystery.
She wiped the floor with Petula here.

@@jeffreyzeiss1326 I am a Petula fan, but still think Anita did the song the best.
