Ford Everest V6 Platinum Review / Better than Prado?

- Big Six gets his mitts on the brand spanking 2023 Ford Everest V6 Platinum edition, the flagship of the Ford SUV offering in Africa. With 184kw of American Muscle what is there not to like about this attractive people carrier with low-range? We try to find out on a comprehensive all surface test in Cape Town. Taking her to Olympic Sand dunes to test the Everest against the class leading Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 150, which costs a similar price these days, both north of a mil. It's all happing, only on Africa Sideways. Thanks to the Browns for the camera car.

This is an absolute stunning beast, lovung the sound of that Powerstroke Diesel💯. I just wish the Americans could come here and tell us how the Powerstroke held up in the F-150 before it got discontinued.

Front left and front right park sensors only alert you when an object is within 25cm which is too limited. The manual states it will detect object 60cm away, but it doesn’t. Expect to see lots of scuff marks and dents on the front left and right of the car.
get those regardless with bush driving.
Would love to see this Ford handling on Swartkops racetrack.

Be good if you could option it with some more off-road focussed rims, like 17" (brakes too big?) or 18" instead of 21"s.

255/65/R18 are available as an option
I'd go for 255/70 R18, 265/65 R18 for similar to original diameter or one size up 275/65 R18 or 265/70 R18 for more sidewall/clearance - depending on usage. The standard tyre is 275/45 R21, so the 255/65 R18 would be smaller than original.
Lovely vehicle, my 3.2 is 5 years old and I have had no issues with my transmission.
I have not heard of any issues on the new everest or ranger yet.

Interesting effort from Ford, but hard to say what it really is - and that price puts it up against some serious, arguably more focused competition. I guess the question is, do you really want to pay that much for the ultimate rendition of an Everest?

Those hard dunes don’t show much at all, otherwise great review.
The car is so capable offroad it makes it look easy. And tyre pressure is correct.
It's actually originally a Jaguar Land Rover engine.
More info please. This engine has many lives.
