    Great video Mark. Just wondering if you have had any issues with the front parking sensors since fitting the bull bar. I've got the same setup and since installing the Ironman bar the sensors seem to be "over sensitive". To the point where they alert when stopped at roundabouts, or vehicles pass in the opposite direction when I'm stopped. Before fitting the bar they operated as expected. I know they can be turned off, but that defeats the purpose somewhat.

    • @Perth4WDandCamping
      @Perth4WDandCamping  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Parking sensors have been fine on my Ironman bar. Have you gone back to the installers and asked to double check all sensors are where they should be?

    Love the vehicle and have the exact same technical issues with iPhone hookup and front camera. The iPhone hookup drives me insane as it always happens just before we head into unknown places needing the navigation. Have traveled just under 50,000 kms and it hasn’t missed a beat. Also turn off both driver assist features as well. Great review.

    Thanks for another great video. Next gen wildtrak V6 here. I wonder if you feel the gear box response timing issue with your 33 inch tyres. I feel the car has a late response of the gear change timing. Mine is 33 too and I put it on right after the delivery so I never get the chance to let the car with OE size of tyres to settle down from brand new and feel the drive & gear box shifting experience of it.

    • @Perth4WDandCamping
      @Perth4WDandCamping  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve noticed shifting in 3rd can be a bit off with the 33s on - I guess the best way to explain is that it feels a little laggy before you go into 4th. A few options - you can get ford to reset the trans next service and will do a relearn (might help), or you can get someone experienced (Ford don’t do this) to change your shift points using ForScan to compensate for the bigger tyres. If you search up Ranger & Everest / Amarok Forscan on Facebook, there’s a group you can join and people who can do this. Need to note however, when you get software updates from Ford this may wipe the codes and you’d need to go through the process again.

      Switch it to Tow/Haul mode. You will find that the revs are increased somewhat before a gear change is made, rather like a Sport mode. It switches to 4A by default but that is not a problem but if you prefer 2wd in Tow/Haul, just press the 2wd switch in the controller and it will stay in Tow/Haul but in 2wd.

      Wireless Apple CarPlay has been around since at least 2017. It's now a very mature technology, subject only to implementation choices by car manufacturers. e.g. where they place the Wifi hot spot w.r.t. to the wireless charging pad. Works fine in BMWs.

    • @Perth4WDandCamping
      @Perth4WDandCamping  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    In regards to auto stop start, and this is from a 21 Bi turbo owner but would be interesting to see if it works on next Gen. I removed the trailer plug from the towbar and fitted the LED light extension, then fixed that to the towbar with the original plug connected and tucked up above. This has totally disabled the stop start, even tho it says its active it never activates. Also means all trailer lights now work properly all the time, had issues with a couple of trailers where i would connect and check lights, then later notice none were working anymore as the vehicle had shut down the output.

      Interesting feedback. Thanks for sharing! After some early challenges with my trailer connectivity after adding a Redarc towpro elite unit (just wiring related), I’m hesitant to tweak anything at this stage as it’s all working well. I’ve seen a unit you can buy which turns this auto/start stop feature off, but haven’t heard any feedback yet from anyone using this.

    • @Perth4WDandCamping

      Yes!! I forgot about that one. Another reason I turn the lane keeping off

    • @skoobs6051
      @skoobs6051 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @hedydd2
      @hedydd2 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The newer latest software probably sorts this issue out as well, because although I have used quite a bit of adaptive cruise with auto steer, I’ve yet to see the warning. I do keep a light touch on the wheel at all times though, because like all such systems I’ve got and had, the auto steering will occasionally switch off briefly, especially in tighter turns on single lane trunk roads.

As I was planning to modify - adding bullbar/rear/bar/bigger tyres etc, any of the small aesthetic changes and differences on the Sport were of no value to me as I’d be changing there anyway. I also was happy with the cloth seats as I’d be covering there. Both great options.

Spotify shows the track playing but no sound. A simple reconnect fixes it, nothing major but a tad annoying. Apparently Ford are aware of it and are working on an update.

    @Axle123451 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I also have a Next Gen XLT (Nov 22)
    Agree the auto off is very annoying as can be the lane keeping.
    I’ve also found when in cruise control the vehicle computer has a mind of its own. You can be travelling along at 80kph and all of a sudden it thinks it’s in a 110kph zone and and takes off to that speed. Ford have informed me if needs a map update. Time will tell after the next service.
    I had a similar problem last summer to you in regards to the gear box. I drove to Perth via Jarradale and when I turned onto south west highway towards Byford it was like I was in neutral when it got to about 60kph. It would rev but no getup and go. Hasn’t done it again after that one time. As for body protection I went with RhinoHide. Worth its weight in gold on the south coast.

    • @Perth4WDandCamping
      @Perth4WDandCamping  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good feedback! I tend to stay clear of the cruise control. Interesting you had that happen in Jarradale. Can only assume there’s been a software update since and that’s what I haven’t seen it again - time will tell

    • @hedydd2
      @hedydd2 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It sounds like you have the speed limit as on maps and observed signs, linked to the adaptive cruise control. I think they come from the factory like that but there is an easy to find and use switch in the centre control panel that decouples the road speed limit from the cruise control. If you find that the truck slows down to a lower posted speed limit automatically, you have this annoying feature switched on. It does help if you have speeding penalty points against your driving license though 😉

    Wireless Apple and Android play is a bit of an issue across the board for vehicles and even with aftermarket head units, Does appear to be more related to the technology used to connect from Phone app to the device simplest work around I've found for this is toggling your 4g and wifi off before turning on the bluetooth, then seems to connect more often then not.

    CarPlay works fine on my March 23 built Ranger with iPhone8. The only issue I’ve had in the two months since I’ve owned it and from day one is the tyre pressure monitoring system puts up a fault message every five to ten miles. This will be seen to some fine day in future. All cars with auto-stop/start engage it by default the same as lane keeping assist. They do it to gain their current five star insurance rating. Ford have also disabled keyless entry in Europe currently due to scanning and theft risk. They promise to provide new keys with a sleep when idle feature by the end of the year when it will be possible to re-instate the keyless entry and exit functions through the software. Lots of users are not keen on the noisy new receiver type tow hitch and would prefer the old fixed hitch. Personally I like, on balance, the advantage of being able to remove the drawbar when not needed and for extra departure angle, and to replace it quickly with a tow rope drawbar or even a rear winch and cradle. For those that insist on a noiseless fixed hitch, I highly recommend an arc welder to weld the male and female parts together in eternal bliss.

    Got the Wildtrak V6. I had the tailshaft rattle, emergency braking all on its own, issues with android auto, issues with Collison assist malfunctions, issues with the assisted brake hold at lights, had the turbo oil feed and oil return lines both leaking lots of oil onto the hot side of the turbo, issues with the left mirror getting stuck in the closed position and it scratching opening and closing. It doesn't like trying to put the handbrake on and put it in park to fast as the handbrake won't go on.
    The Ford app to be able to start the car before I get in doesn't work most of the time.
    There is a bit of a clunk every so often when going from park into forward or reverse.
    The outside temperature sensor is very useless when in direct sunlight compared to cars 17 years older. It will read much hotter then it actually is outside.
    The cabin gets super hot when parked the direct sunlight compared to every other car I've had.
    Ford have not been great to deal with unfortunately for me.
    However I like the car for lots of things like the power, steering, brakes, cameras, engine noise.
    A must if going any kind of off-road is underbody protection. Ford did not design things to be protected under there and we narrowly missed a stick taking out the wiring to the transmission.
    Oh and it would be nice if the eco mode actually worked with the transmission to change gears earlier. I've been able to drive heaps of loan cars from Ford due to the car going to the workshop a heap and the 4 cylinder labours that engine more then the V6. The transmission on where it changes the V6 holds it in higher revs then the 4 cylinder, like wtf.

    Android Auto also has the same drop out issue. One day it's fine but the next day it won't work even when it's already automatically connected to the phone through blootooth. Fully agree with the auto engine off and the lane assist. I find the auto engine off kicks in at the worst possible times. Usually happens when I'm edging the front of the car towards the garage door to fit it in the driveway. The lane assist is brutal even on the lowest setting compared to the lane assist in my wife's tesla. Definitely needs some work and especially bad when towing. All up though, the rest of the car is awesome and the minor issues don't take away from that and will likely be sorted out through software updates later. Apple car play makes me furious for the same reasons as yours. I have had it detune itself once for about 10 mins when loaded and towing heavy on a hot day{about 75% power} but I guess its protecting the driveline. Other than that its been a great ute so far. @@Marzyxx You would hope so, but it is like it is for the five star crash test ratings. All modern cars are the same. Since I had my Volvo XC90, six years ago, with these systems, I’ve felt like an airline pilot, having to go through a pre-flight/drive check list. Mine is, 1. check driving position and mirrors. 2. start engine with foot on brake. 3. Attach safety belt. 4. disable auto stop/start. 5, Disable auto lane assist. 6. engage drive or reverse and release brake. 7. indicate and check surrounding before moving off.
      Other checks are also done of course, such as a visual check of tyres and fuel level and weekly fluid level checks. Another slight annoyance but one I can live with is that the lights default to Auto at every cold start and tend to light up dipped beams when it’s rather too naturally light. There should be a sensitivity adjustment for ambient light activation of dipped beam somewhere, if only in the hidden software. They should make it user adjustable just like it has a driver control for beam height.

    just a tip when calculating fuel economy, fill it up to the brim, plan the route on google, 200km is a good run, then fill it up to the brim again. Use the km travelled from google and the fuel added at the bowser at the end of the trip to calculate litres per 100km: fuel used/distance travelled x 100.
    My old man uses more fuel in his stock v6 ranger around town than you do fully modified (10-12ltrs per 100km) gets down to 9 on the highway. I think your figures might be off, probably due to the increase in tire diameter

    Couldn't agree more. We have essentially the same vehicle, but without the cool mod's. We haul a 3.4 ton caravan around without effort. The camera glitch turned out to be a mounting that came loose. The phone connectivity glitch is stupid. It needs to have perfect internet coverage to chaperone the connection. Losing the default to autostop and lane keeping would definitely be a step ahead. Two things about engine oil. It takes forever - like 10 - 15 minutes - for the oil to drain down to the sump so dipping the oil without this long wait can give a false "low" reading, The % oil life remaining give a very generous life span between changes 17,500 on the first change not 15,000 in spite of several thousand of heavy towing.

Drove it home from dealer and added about 8km and had engine light turn on with error code saying NoX sensor unable to send message to ECU.. took it back next day, then instructed to take it to the service centre for scanning. Had to leave it there and took a complementary car home. After day 3, the entire NoX module was replaced with both NoX sensors also changed. Pretty frustrating at the time, tried to reject the car but was told it was a minor fault and was repaired with factory parts covered under warranty.. its been 3 weeks now and no issues and kinda over the initial ugly taste left in my mouth. I have the same vehicle and agree about the Apple Carplay, lane keep assist and auto engine off features. I’d shut the last two off permanently if I could. Other criticism is the plastic rear bumper. It isn’t up to use on gravel roads. Rocks hitting the inside of the bumper have caused the paint to craze on mine after doing perhaps 1300km of gravel on the Great Central Road. Otherwise very happy with ours after about 16000km. I also have a biturbo and find it considerably more economical on fuel.
    Something else that really bugs me is that the park lights come on if you switch the ignition to accessories. Try running a fridge from the socket in the tub when you are stopped and you’ll have park lights on to help drain your battery.

      Spot on re bumper - I did a trip (Lennard Track) and tapped the ground and split it. Doesn’t take much being plastic. Now running ARB rear bar. Interesting feedback on running the fridge. @@Perth4WDandCamping The park light thing just pisses me off as does the door open alarm. The interesting thing is that my NP300 Navara has power to the rear socket all the time. Can turn everything off and leave your fridge running. Once upon a time we could even open the doors and have the stereo going without disco lights and bells to accompany the music. I think Ford’s electrical engineers think they are so smart that they can make all our decisions for us. Lane keep assist is a classic example. Can be bloody dangerous when towing a heavy trailer as I do frequently. How about Ford leave the driving up to me?

Slightly more power/torque in the 200, but considerably heavier than the v6 Ranger. G’day Adam. The X has the same 3500kg tonne tow capacity with the range (except the Raptor) which is good.
      As you know I decided to opt for the V6 with towing in mind. Both the biturbo and v6 will tow the Forbes - V6 just will do it a bit easier.
      The Wildtrak X comes with the Bilsten suspension which will be an improvement off road. I guess one thing to consider is how the car will sit with your van hooked up. If you’re getting sag, you may need to think about something like airbags to level out your ride.
      My advice is go with the model that gives you the most flexibility - try think ahead if you can and what mods etc you might ad in the future.

    I know exactly what you’re talking about with the engine auto stop/start. This is not specific to Ford however it’s the feature. Every car that has the feature when it’s on as soon as you stop it will turn the car off. If you just raise your foot off the brake pedal a tiny amount for a second the engine will restart. I have a ‘23 Raptor and I haven’t experienced any of the other issue’s you have described. The only thing I have found is with the IPhone ( and I’m not sure if this is your issue as I’m not sure what phone you have) I have the iPhone 14pro and because it comes out a bit at the back around the camera the phone without a case doesn’t sit flat on the wireless charger and so it can move around a little at times. That’s the only thing I’ve found. But with my case it isn’t so much of an issue now.

    Warranty with Ford is a nightmare. I have a 2019 Ford Mustang 10sp.
    1. Takes nearly 2 seconds to change from 1st to 2nd in S mode using paddles. Was told not to use the paddles as they were not designed for that and nothing wrong.
    2. Software glitches. On picking up after warranty service, told they had upgraded two software programs to fix warranty claim and that I need to pay for these as Ford doesn’t cover the cost of software upgrades. I said I didn’t request an upgrade, I made a warranty claim. They breached Australian Consumer Law.
    3. Had cracks in tyre walls of all four tyres. Common defect of Michelin tyres. Told for six months not covered by warranty despite it expressly stating in the warranty that defect to tyres are covered for 5 years. They then asked me to pay the difference in usage, 50% tyre worn, must pay 50% of new cost. Refused, warranty doesn’t state this and what other parts covered under warranty do they ask to pay part costs? Six months later, got four more tyres. Breach Australian Consumer Law as they failed to act in a timely manner.
    4. The accelerator surge on initially application. More noticeable in higher rev range. Demonstrated to Ford sports mode, they said it’s just sports mode making it feel quicker. I understand how these modes work. What happens is I give the accelerator 3% and application it revs to 1600 then instantly drops to 1400 revs without variation to accelerator. Same happens when instantly hoping off accelerator. To 0% accelerator, revs at 4000 will drop to 3700, then rise to 3900, then evenly drop. The rise occurs without any use of accelerator. Again, Ford just ignore these issues. No fault codes, no fault. Car still drivable, but not smoothly. Please does anyone have any ideas of what is going on? Fought Ford for 18 months on this.
    Love the car, hate Ford.

      Yeah same with gearing. Not as smooth as on the 31s but manageable. You can have shift points adjusted on the Rangers and I’m sure there would be something similar for the 300

    First time Ford owner, first time ute owner and first time 4wd owner so I might not be qualified to speak but love mine so far. A small issue with a sensor in the door but no big deal. Car play is a bit annoying.

      I think the tech in these is very helpful for a first time 4WD owner. One thing I didn’t touch on, but the speed of switching between 4WD modes and activating the rear dif etc is much better in these than other 4WDs I’ve owned/driven
