I'm genuinely grateful for your content and i actually enjoy hearing your opinion. We're just fans and enthusiasts at heart. Wish dovetail would honour the motto on their website and simply start doing better. I've been following DTG for a long time similar to yourself so i don't really know of any other games i could get into and you'd think for their players loyalty they'd give back to the community. Again, i'm grateful for your content. ❤
Literally the only reason why I still play TSC and TSW is because we still don’t have the editing tools for Simrail yet. And when those editing tools do finally come I’m probably not going to play the Dovetail sims that often because there’s a superior product out there. Speaking of which Simrail really isn’t all that different from TSW in terms of gameplay and I was able to adjust to it pretty fast. And as Simrail continues to grow I see more and more people switching over to it and moving away from the Dovetail sims, and I still predict that Dovetail will go bankrupt someday, which is fine by me. You can offer as much feedback as you want but the devs simply don’t care about what you think. They’re going to keep churning out mediocre content until the cows come home. Yeah no wonder I pirate this stuff.
Great review. Personally, if they add any type of American steam, and fix draw distance issues I'm happy. By the way, Searchlight Simulations is developing a North American route for SimRail.
For me, the difference between DTG 's "if it's broke, don't fix it" and SCS's labour of love approach to Euro Truck / American Truck Sim couldn't be more stark. SCS's brilliant free reworks of their existing map funded by map extension DLC is how to do it imo. The recent San Francisco bay area rework and DTG's squandering the potential of the Northern Trans Penine route illustrates this differing approach perfectly.
You're reviews are the best TSW content on TH-cam. They're accessible, honest and unbaised. This content is what we desperately need in the TSW community. Please keep it up you're doing great.
I will continue to ride for as long as I can, despite my annoyances with DTG. TSW has made me serious about driving trains safely, not fooling around as I would tend to do more in TSC. I feel like TSW has more to offer with timetable mode, but of course, neither game is immune to criticism, and I wait with a mix of curiousity, excitement and dread about what will be announced in Dovetail Direct...
Hello, very honest review. I will always regret the "Kuju" game. The DTG merchandising is too confusing for me but I like TSC and TWS anyway. Thank you and good railroad :)
@sosig1341 I don't think such a route would ever feature in TSW since DTG have now published City Transport Simulation. It could feature in City Transport Simulator in the future.
I’d like your opinion on something about TSW. With relations to the licensing issues that the developers faces when trying to get new locomotives/trains in. I have heard licensing have been a pain for the developers working on TSW and I heard such as class 91 and mk4 on the ecml and possibly other modern freight locos you mentioned have faced licensing issues and hence not being able to bring them into TSW. What do you think of this? Is it the developers fault for not being able to get the license from the operator or would you let them slide on this case as the train operator wasn’t willing to give them a license to model a certain train?
@ludwigtails As someone with legal education, I will say that obtaining intellectual property licences is extremely difficult. There is a lot of bureaucracy behind it, and the developer is often at the mercy of the train operator to get the licence. The train operator may only allow the developer use of their license for certain products or may refuse to approve a licence at all. As a result, I wouldn't criticise the developer for not doing something if they simply can not obtain the license to use the product. However, given that DTG has an LNER, DB and recently a DRS licence, I do not understand why they couldn't make more locomotives.
@potatoman451 Exsacty, I know that this was also the case with SNCF, who only gave Dovetail a licence for use of their TGV trains. I hope they can get renegotiate and get regional/intercity routes since the Focus takeover. The LGV Méditerranée route desperately needs to incorporate the other regional lines out of Marseille St Charles and Avignon TGV. Some train operators even have strange terms like MTA who forced Dovetail to remove the brake charging due to train theft in LIRR Commuter!
Unless i'm missing something, couldn't they just release an unbranded version as the paid product and release a free branding pack alongside it to get around this like AP do in TSC or many Omsi 2 devs do?
Pardon Me For Asking DC 4260 But Would You Consider A Video Where You Look At Each Steam Loco And List Your Pros And Cons With The 4 Steamers In TSW I Hope You Are Well
The criticism of certain EMUs being easy to drive doesn't really make sense to me, because.... yes they are easy to drive, they are modern systems that were focussed on driver comfort. They are also the rolling stock being used on the portrayed routes... so its just realistic really. And tbh, the challenge with for example the 442 or the 422 doesn't come from how hard it is to control, it comes from mastering the tight S-Bahn timetables with all safety systems running
They don't have to focus on those boring to drive EMUs just because they exist in real life. They can do more historic lines and rolling stock, pick routes with more interesting power, etc. Or at least deliver them with a host of more interesting and challenging scenarios. They just don't.
For me i realy disapointed with dovetail about how they putting little effort or almost no effort on US routes on train sim world no add on or layyers like german or uk routes and the us routes on tsw are rushed and expensive if was uk or german routes they will 100 % putting a lot effort into the routes but us none they dont care its sucks but i wont bother to with this anymore keep up good reviews and stay safe
I like Train Simulator classic over train sim world i start play train simulator when Microsoft did first train Simulator and i also like Great British Railway Journeys i known some already have some of the route
So i can get past buying the game every year as long as the keep including 3 dlc in the base route. like TSW 4 was 3 new routes even though it was kind boring it was still a pack of 3 for 40 usd. (preoder price)
With the introduction of tsw 5, I’m utterly disappointed. After getting train sim world 4 last year, it was already expensive enough and now to access new routes i have to pay for train sim world 5, which is not really a major change. It just looks like TSW 4 but with more routes. And not uploading content for older versions of the game anymore, its like they force us to buy the new game after not even a full year.
I don't always agree with what you say, but at least when you make a video you show the good and the bad aspects of the route/DLC without boring me to death with an hour long video of driving while babbling.
I hope you dont stop as your one of the only people that are blatantly honest on all routes
You won't (or rather, never) see me sponsored by DTG any time soon.
And yet there's still people that mock this guy just because he speaks the truth

Yes a well presented and honest channel. I don't go on the forums much as it's full of fanboys.

I did revisit the two steam-era routes earlier in the year, but haven't really thought of doing an in-depth review on the locomotives themselves.
Your reviews re good TSW is missing a lot of features
Good points. I’m wondering why they even offered the import profile feature from TSW 3 if none of my stats transferred or my level. Stupid
Another interesting route is the Norristown highspeed line?

Speaking of the S-Bahn timetables, I find the BR423's services on HMA to be some of the hardest in the game, even without PZB and Sifa enabled.
They don't have to focus on those boring to drive EMUs just because they exist in real life. They can do more historic lines and rolling stock, pick routes with more interesting power, etc. Or at least deliver them with a host of more interesting and challenging scenarios. They just don't.

Rolling Line is the only decent alternative that comes to mind.

Train SIm World is basically nothing but a badly glorified Train Sim Classic. Same format, same tactics, same business practices. Enough said.
not an excuse or anything, but I'f im right, the devs are kinda obligated to do yearly launches of a "new" game, for some document stuff 0_o

Out of interest, Have you ever wanted to be a train driver if you didn’t have this Chanel??
actually, who asked? Just play it or don't. But all the time trying to explain why you do something or not is really tiring.
Who asked you to watch? If you think it’s tiring, then dont watch.
