hello mom i just have an advise for you i have 3 children and i am looking not to have kids for now so since one year and a half i have being going to the creigton model fertility teacher and i have learnd alot i also will be posting videos about it soon well my advice is that i used the same ovulation test sticks that you butgh it really works its true but it also says in the inthe ovulation box instructions Not TO USE it as a planification method because it can tell when you ovulated but its not intend to use it as a planification method because you can get a big surprise later on ,,, everything that you dont study 100% is at somepoint going to fail i use does test sticks only When i am going to do my lab work ... at that point they dont have to pock me to many times to get my lab work done because i go exactly when the test stick says that my ovulation already past the test stick says that my ovulation past but i go to get my lab work done in order to get a 100% percent result that iam infertile ...especially for the lady that doesnt want to have more babys just one little sperm that is still alive and you get pregnant you know what i mean? You have to get rid of all the sperms in order for you not to get pregnant .. so the method its really easy but the teacher have to know what happends in your body in order to help you .... about 2 months and they help youright away but you have to try it to go every appointment they give you and soon they help and believe me its totally worth it once you got it :) ... i definetly recoment to ask the teachers of the creigton model for lab works its intent to tell you exactly when you ovulated and when are you infertile its for the persons that are learning the method and they still are waiting to have like 2 months of good charting and during that time they give you the lab work so you can be having sex without waiting to much and its until they help you to learn the method or until they help you fix what ever problem you are having on your chart ....
Hi, Do you know how to reset clear blue monitor if I am postpartum no periods and want to track my fertility to avoid pregnancy ? I have read to press M button but I don’t have M button on my screen…
Thank you so much for posting this! I'm a nurse, and now I'm looking into becoming trained in NFP through Marquette University. So frustrating that health care professionals don't know more about NFP methods and instead turn right to artificial birth control. Nothing can make a woman feel more powerful than knowing her own cycle and body...at least in my opinion :)
Please please please do more NFP videos. This is so helpful. My fiancé and I have struggled researching NFP and it’s frustrating that there isn’t an easier way to work through all the research available. Thank you for posting this. I would love to hear how Marquette method works for you. I just found out about this one last week.
This is very similar to “phase three only” of the Sympto Thermal Method! :) I’m not sure if anyone else has commented this already, but there is an armband device that you can buy called Tempdrop that will track your temperature all night, even if you get up in the middle of the night! So for those considering STM of NFP, I’d just like to add that it has been great for my husband and I- and very easy to implement! Also thank you so much Heather! Your videos have been the biggest blessing ❤
So so grateful that I found this video, I am currently 6 months pregnant and just a couple weeks ago my Obgyn asked me what I will be doing after I give birth. When I told her I was doing basal thermo method she right away said it doesn’t work and well she ended up talking about contraceptions. I have talked to my husband and we were trying to figure out what we are going to do and even thought about talking to our priest about it! It makes me so happy that I am not alone and that we will be able to keep our values!
I recommend the book 'Taking charge of your Fertility' by Toni Weschler to anyone who's interested in NFP and is looking for a comprehensive overview and guide.
Your mom is a rock star. I have 7 kids. My two middles are Irish Twins. December 31, 2007 and December 29, 2008. Just found your channel and love it. My husband and I just returned to the Sacraments and we baptized are 3 youngest and the older 4 are in RCIA. So nice to follow a fellow practicing Catholic mom.
That is awesome! I am so excited for you to coming into the Catholic faith! And Irish twins! Wow our 2 oldest are 15 months apart and the baby stage was crazy! But we got though it:) I am glad you are liking this channel!
This is amazing! I’m 8 months postpartum and nursing so I thought there was no hope to be with my husband any time soon because I’m not good with the other methods. This video just randomly came up I have watched your other videos though Thank you for the help and hope you can keep making more videos on these kind of topics it helps the newbies like me and many other women to live out our faith. God bless! 🙏🏼
Im definitely interested in more NFP videos. Im currently 8 months pregnant so this video is definitely very helpful for me right now to start preparing when I'm post partum. Thank you Heather! ❤️
I had four kids in about seven years, three of them born by c section. And we're just generally overwhelmed by this life with basically no family help (and home schooling). Especially my husband, he's basically wanting 100% abstinence right now. Suffice it to say, THANK YOU for this video. (I just started it, so I just want to connect via comment early, because your story resonates with me.)
Thank you for mentioning the Marquette Method and the clear blue tests to get. I am due with number four soon and my body needs a serious (at least 18month) break to address multiple health issues, before having another baby. So thank you for your transparency and sharing this info. I am not Catholic but am contraindicated for medicinal birth control, plus it made me sick often. All that to say my husband and I have to find alternative methods.
Very helpful video!! I agree that the sympto-thermal methods (tracking mucus and temperature) are very difficult postpartum. Marquette method (using the monitor and the test strips) has been incredible for me. No guess work! It's perfect for getting your cycle back early OR prolonged infertility from breastfeeding. I got my monitor off eBay so it wasn't a huge financial burden either. Plus the Marquette Facebook group and their website is incredible.. So much information. I highly recommend it. We have successfully avoided a pregnancy for three years thanks to Marquette while I get some health issues figured out. Thanks for doing this video heather! It's a tough subject and so interesting to hear different people's experiences.
Thank you for this video Heather! I am 7 months post partum after a c-section and I have been pretty nervous because we weren't using NFP before I got pregnant. I really appreciate your take on the different methods and I hope it will help me predict when I get my cycle back since this is my first baby. Thanks again!
Thank you for this video. I recently found your channel and am trying to go through the videos. I am 7 months ppd with my third..still no cycle. Hubby and I are struggling with intimacy because I am afraid to get pregnant again...We are, in the last few years, really practicing our faith and this is the hardest part. I will be looking into that ovulation kit!
I'm just 2 months PP and am also afraid of getting pregnant again, so it's hard to be intimate. Especially since ovulation comes before the first period... 😅
Yesss!!! I have a 5,4,3, and almost 2 year old with 4 csections as well. Marquette was the only method that I was able to understand and gave us some more time and space between kids!!!
A clearblue easy monitor might be great for you since there is a form of NFP based on it. Marquette has a monitor only version. It is like those sticks but involves cheaper sticks and the cost of amonitor. HOwever you can get used monitors pretty cheap. It is helpful to know that while you can have peaks on the monitors it is not a gaurentee you are ovulating. I have used them in conjunction with other methods of NFP and it is very clear, I was not ovulating due to a cycle starting shortly after. My point is, it is good to know it can be an "ovulatory event" which means the monitors label it as ovulation because your hormones match that but it is more of ramping up practicing that. Anyway just a helpful thing to know. ANd definitely check out marquette, it seems like a method that you woudl find very easy since it can be done with just a monitor, no temping, mucas checking, etc.
I used Clearblue to get pregnant with both my kids :) I have PCOS so my fertility is really all over the place. I ovulated 4 days after my cycle and never would have caught it had I not started taking the tests day 1. It does get pricey, though, taking it every day. I would LOVE to keep using Clearblue but financially I'm considering Creighton. I tried the temperature one, too, but it didn't work for me.
We’re taking an online class with Sarah Tramonte on Feb. 13. You and I are in similar situations with the c-sections and Creighton being the best fit. I am super excited to simplify this area of our life! My cycles returned at NINE weeks- I was shocked. I had 11 months after my first so that was a bit disappointed. Prayers for both of us as we learn!
I will say the Creighton Model works if you follow it. Abstinence sometimes is indicated to avoid pregnancy. If not, you may get pregnant on a fertile day if you have intercourse when you know it's a fertile day.
I personally like the wondfo OPKs better than digital. I like to be able to actually see the line and make the judgement for myself. I've had many hormone imbalances in the past so I can't trust digital. I sometimes get positive OPKs and do not ovulate with them. I can get positives multiple times through my cycles but only 1 of those times I am actually ovulating. I've kind of made up my own 'frankenmethod' as I like to call it lol. I use cervical mucus, cervical position, and OPKs along with any other odd symptoms that stand out. I have 2 little girls. One conceived after infertility and one surprise 9 months after she was born. Now we're using NFP, but we're not catholic. Love your NFP videos!
I just discovered your page and I'm so glad that I did! I feel like we've had such a similar experience. I've had 5 c-sections and we're pretty seriously TTA and also have been really fertile in the past and was so nervous about going forward cautiously. This time around I got a TempDrop and a ClearBlue monitor and I haven't been thrilled with the TempDrop (my temps change every day despite using it since August, it just hasn't worked for me) but I love the monitor and it is catching Peak and giving me such peace of mind and matching up with my CM like you were describing. I still wish the TempDrop would work so I could cross check it with my temps, but I guess those two signs showing ovulated are pretty good. Anyways I'm glad to have found you and I subscribed!
I am really enjoying your videos! I posted this one to a Catholic Mom FB group for my area since we had been discussing NFP also I shared your 4th c-section video to a FB group for Catholic C-section Moms all over the country. Good stuff!
This is in no way an attack, just a little bit of constructive criticism. Look into the camera view lens. It's feels more personable to me (the viewer) if you look at the camera while talking. I love you videos and am a loyal watcher.
The symto -thermo method from the couple to couple league is a 3 way cross section of temp/ mucus/ ? I forget ... We used this for years. After you learn it is free. I am to old to have kids now. But this work very well.
I realize this is an older video but I have a question as a nursing mom interested in NFP. I’ve read that there’s a Marquette method protocol for nursing mothers using the Digital or Analog Clearblue Fertility Monitor, which is different from the Ovulation Test that you mention worked well and is significantly cheaper than the Fertility Monitor. Did the Ovulation Test that you used work over a period of months? Thank you if you’ve taken the time to respond to this video. Since this comment is much later, did the monitor work postpartum better than the test?
Thank you SO much for posting this video!! As a catholic mom this topic is definitely something I feel we need to talk about and advocate for! I am 6 months post partum and haven't figured out how to go about charting like I was before so this was very helpful. I am going to look into the Marquette method! I would love to see more videos on NFP! I love watching all of your videos!
There's a great book called : Taking charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler,it informs a lot about how you can start charting, everyone can do it, does'nt matter if you're single, married or consecrated. But anyways it's better to assist to classes with a qualified practitioner if you are to marry soon and want to achieve or avoid pregnancy.
My only concern with breastfeeding when I give birth is that I will not get my cycle. So, I find it interesting how you tried to prevent your cycle from coming back. The thing is, you never know when your cycle will come back (and you will ovulate sometime before that), which means you could very well get pregnant while breastfeeding because it does come back for some women. I would prefer to formula feed so I can wait for my cycle to come back, and then go back to cycle tracking like I did before I was pregnant. The ovulation guessing game while breastfeeding just sounds too stressful.
Thank you! and praise be to God for you and your videos! This is just what i needed right now! Just had my 4th baby and 3rd cesarean 2 months ago. All the doctors who tended to me recommended i tied my tubes. I didn't, but I cannot take any more risks. I felt like i was fumbling around in darkness alone as the NFP methods we were taught did not work for us personally. Please do more videos on NFP and the Marquette method. Thank you and God bless you and your beautiful family.
Hi Heather! Would you please do a video on the Marquette method. I ordered my Clear blue fertility tracker today. It’s super hard to do sympto thermal postpartum and while I’m nursing! Thank you so much!
If you don't mind me asking did you follow rules to the T with billings? If i heard correctly you got pregnant with that method, and why didn't the temp method work for you either. I have babies and am trying to avoid without BC. And using the FAM method and was looking into billings its stressing me out.
Ovulation test kits cannot tell you if you are ovulating. They only tell you if your hormones are going in that direction, and your body is TRYING to ovulate. The only way to confirm that you actually ovulated is to watch for the temperature spike after that hormonal spike (or to wait and see if you get a real period). Did you ever end up using the bracelet again?
Well they have been very accurate for me because they always line up with my fertility mucus. Plus reading you temperature while nursing is nearly impossible because you up all threw out the night/ morning. Got the bracelet didn’t work
A Catholic Mom's Life yeah I hear you, the temperature thing is hard when breastfeeding. The tests and cervical mucus lining up is great! They support each other, and relying on only temperature is never a good idea. But without noticing a temperature spike, you can’t know if an egg ever actually releases. This is fine for women avoiding pregnancy, since you want to abstain whenever you have fertile mucus, anyways. But if you’re trying to get pregnant, the test and mucus can only tell you if your body is trying to ovulate, not if it actually did or not. Only a temperature spike or a true period can tell you that. So if you’re reading this, and trying to get pregnant, and you’re having sex when the test tells you to, but you aren’t getting pregnant, it could be that you are never actually ovulating, just having hormones that are trying to.
Anglo ortho. We never checked for these signs with the monitor or mucus with our other 4 children postpartum as breast feeding seemed to work. However, on the fifth child i decided to test with the monitor and now i had peak lh along with fertile mucus 7 weeks postpartum. I had nightmare i was pregant is why i checked. We are pretty freaked out right now and not sure what is happening. No period etc.
How did you use the Ovulation Tests? The digital ones I mean? Do you just test every day? I am almost 9 months postpartum but am still not cycling and it's super frustrating.
@@ACatholicMomsLife thank you so much for responding!! So you would wait for the "low" sign for example and then come together? So for example, today I got a low reading. Presumably I could come together with my husband today?
I use the billings method. I don't have a regular period and tracking with calendars and everything seemed exhausting to me. I don't record anything, when my underwear is wet I know I can get pregnant, then I watch for the mucus. If I don't have sex for two days after the mucus I don't have a problem. Had the second kid after only waiting 36 hours after the mucus. Maybe you need a larger buffer zone. I've also thought through ethical considerations of contraceptives. There were a couple of things that helped me with my decision about what I was comfortable with. Most methods seem focused on preventing a fertilized egg from attaching, whereas condoms prevent the egg from becoming fertilized. I also know women are on the pill because their period causes them debilitating pain and the pill manages their pain. I think this area to some degree falls under Romans 14. I won't use the pill, but I don't think that my friends who use it for pain management are sinning. When I am ovulating or we lack confidence about timing we use condoms without feeling guilty. If we didn't do that I would have constant anxiety over being pregnant. We are not supposed to be anxious or fearful. Catholic rules on contraceptives were written by men who don't have sex. The Bible doesn't speak directly on family planning. The only thing in the Bible is that there should be an openness to having children. That doesn't mean that those who are more fertile are required to have a child every year. Consider this in prayer. I pray that God would remove guilt and fear as you wait for your next child.
My hubby and I are also practicing catholics and I use symptothermal method. I'm 2 months postpartum. The problem is, ovulation comes BEFORE the first period and it's hard to know when we can be intimate since ovulation will come before we even ever get our first period. At my 6week pp appointment my doc said I could already be having my period. I've seen some mucus that was more fertile looking and now I'm checking temp and ovulation strips to see if I'm going to ovulate, but nothing yet. Temp was also high but now has gone down, so maybe period is coming soon? It's a little confusing. Hahaha
Thank you for the video. Just to be accurate I should take 1 ovulation test every morning for 30 days and when it shows peaking how many days should intercourse be avoided?
Hi Heather! So for the digital testing, have you ever experienced, High Fertility for 2 weeks? According to the test & the charts, im ovualting twice a month... I know that's not possible right? I am also a mother of 4 all C section babies ( under the age of 6)and were trying to slow it down for now...We'd be happy with just the 4, but we are definitely open to God's will and Life, & refuse to go on Birth control, but we feel a little defeated that were not nailing this NFP thing & afraid that maybe im even pregnant again only 4.5 months postpartum! 😱😭 Pleaseany advice or knowledge you may have, please let me know, we'd love to take NFP courses but as you know we have 4 very small children with no help for baby sitters,it's impossible...Pray for us will you? 🙏😇
I am looking into the Marquette method thanks to you. I am almost 4 months postpartum and nursing my little boy. I usually get mine back when they start solids (6months). Also do you have any resources for stations if the cross for kids and adults.
I would love a video on the Ava bracelet! My husband and I bought one while I wasn’t pregnant and I do really like it but I haven’t used it to actually track my cycle yet and I’m trying to figure it out. I am 6 weeks postpartum and just got my period even though I am exclusively breastfeeding 😓. My husband and I use the BBT NFP method but I’m just so confused postpartum. I’m panicking just a little...
Sorry but that clear blue for me didn't work for me when i got a flash we tried me & my bf it didnt work at all like everyone said i bought like 5 of them i thought it was waste of money
Katrina Reynolds it only works if you use the clearblue monitor - you cannot use the individual clearblue ovulation predictor kits. I noticed you mentioned you bought 5 of them which is a dead giveaway that you didn’t use the clearblue system monitor and sticks that go with them - clearblue individual ovulation predictor sticks do not do the same thing and therefore you cannot use the Marquette method with them. (I’m assuming since you mention you’re using this with a boyfriend that you’re not catholic - nfp in the Catholic Church is for use in married couples only).
It is important for Catholic couples to note that it is always licit to practice NFP to get pregnant, but can be considered sinful if there are not grave or serious reasons for practicing NFP to not get pregnant. Dr. Taylor Marshall has a good article on this on his website: taylormarshall.com/2014/08/nfp-and-serious-reasons-what-are-these-reasons.html
Pray the Holy Rosary. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
love your videos. I have 3 very reliable ways to NFP. 1) exclusive breastfeeding, I wouldn't get my period back, until after a year and some months, so the way it's works is your baby get to take more Breast milk and rarely would take formulas. the down side to this is, that you would put on a bit of weight because you have to eat for 2. 2)if you have a complete 28 days Normal mensural circle, like me, I start counting my ovulation from the first day of my period, till day 14, 15, 16 two days more. 3) keep in mind, that a man's semen, can last for up to 7 days in a woman's body, so if you have to wait till your ovulation day, then I guess you are pregnant already. what I do personally, counting from the first day of my period, 3 days which is how long my period last, I am free till day 7/8 , I then give a one week break from any relationship with my husband , until after day 14/15, some say you can extend till day 16 but as far as I can say, this method is the only thing that works for me.(I know it can be a very hard task to tell a man to wait for a whole week, me and my husband work together, if it's something you would like to try, i would advise talking to your husband first about it.
I don't know a lot about this, but I know sperm lives up to five days. My question is, did you abstain until you ovulated again? If not, how did you know if it was safe to have intercourse? Thankyou for all the information you give us🤍

Using this monitor for NFP kept me pregnancy free for 2.5 years till we decided we were ready for another one so I definitely advocate it as well.

PaxMC11 Sarah was our instructor too! Good choice 😉 Marquette has been so awesome for us!!
Wow 9 weeks! That is crazy! I agree I hope we both figure it out:)
Will you do another video?? Anything you've learned over the last couple of years? Postpartum, Catholic, first time mom here ☺️ Thank you!!
I will say the Creighton Model works if you follow it.
Abstinence sometimes is indicated to avoid pregnancy. If not, you may get pregnant on a fertile day if you have intercourse when you know it's a fertile day.
Do more videos about NFP! I love your videos and they are so insightful and full of great information! God bless😄
I am so glad that you like the videos! :)
Good stuff!
Oh good I am glad you liked this video:) Thank you for sharing the videos with your friends!
This is in no way an attack, just a little bit of constructive criticism. Look into the camera view lens. It's feels more personable to me (the viewer) if you look at the camera while talking. I love you videos and am a loyal watcher.
I am glad you like my videos:) I will try to work on it!
Agree...
The symto -thermo method from the couple to couple league is a 3 way cross section of temp/ mucus/ ? I forget ... We used this for years. After you learn it is free. I am to old to have kids now. But this work very well.
Please more NFP videos. Love any and all resources.
Your hair is fabulous
I love the cross and Mary in the background
Do you still agree with clear blue after all these years? To use it to avoid pregnancy?
Thank you for this video! I'm currently pregnant and looking to learn more about NFP.
Do you have an opinion on lh test strips and postpartum? They are the most affordable ones, but not sure how reliable they can be while breastfeeding.
Hi Heather! Would you please do a video on the Marquette method. I ordered my Clear blue fertility tracker today. It’s super hard to do sympto thermal postpartum and while I’m nursing! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for posting this. I would love to learn more about the Marquette method. I wish I had this information earlier.
It can vary! I conceived my second while nursing my first (right around one year pp) but I had to totally wean my 2.5 year old too conceive my third.
More NFP videos please especially about Marquette 😊😊
Yes, Please do another review on the Ava bracelet. Thanks, God bless!
How did you use the Ovulation Tests? The digital ones I mean? Do you just test every day? I am almost 9 months postpartum but am still not cycling and it's super frustrating.
I used the digital ones and only use it before coming together.
@@ACatholicMomsLife thank you so much for responding!! So you would wait for the "low" sign for example and then come together? So for example, today I got a low reading. Presumably I could come together with my husband today?
My wife and i are doing the same thing with the marquette method. How’s this new method working for you guys? We’re on our 2nd c section
Please do more nfp videos x
Yes! More NFP, 7 months postpartum with my 5th 1st csection.
Does the clearblue opk work less than 4months pp? As I'm looking into this while I wait for my fertility monitor to arrive
Can you use all of those with out having the menstrual period?
Yes more video!!!
Hahaha
My baby has also slept a lot at nigght since 6 weeks old, so my fertility can Def come back earlier
Can you do a video on the Marquette I need more information please
Pleaseany advice or knowledge you may have, please let me know, we'd love to take NFP courses but as you know we have 4 very small children with no help for baby sitters,it's impossible...Pray for us will you? 🙏😇
Hi, Im a nursing mother,my child is 5 month old now. Still not ovulated. Will it useful for me??
I am looking into the Marquette method thanks to you. I am almost 4 months postpartum and nursing my little boy. I usually get mine back when they start solids (6months). Also do you have any resources for stations if the cross for kids and adults.
great! I am posting a video soon about the stations of the cross!
Yes!!! Do more love theses videos. I also had c sections. Can u do more detail how it works and where can we seek a instructor. Thanks for u videos
sure! I will be working on some:)
Did you try taking the NFP postpartum online class?
andrea e yes! I did the Marquette method it’s awesome!
While I was pregnant. Not wasn’t!
Have you tried / thought of trying lady comp?
did u try billings?
Is artificial contraception a mortal sin in marriage? I battle with this so much. I want to do God's Will just dont know how
Yes, it is a mortal sin to use artificial birth control
Dr. Taylor Marshall has a good article on this on his website:
taylormarshall.com/2014/08/nfp-and-serious-reasons-what-are-these-reasons.html
Please do a video on the Marquette method! My husband and I are pregnant with our first child and I want something reliable for after baby!
see what I can do!

Thank you for sharing!
“Irish twins?” Sounds like a stereotypical slur to me....🤔
It's a very common term, especially in Ireland. It's just a joke. Then again, the Irish are the least offended people out there.
It means two kids born within a year. It’s not a slur.
Thanks so much for this information God bless you.
I don't know a lot about this, but I know sperm lives up to five days. My question is, did you abstain until you ovulated again? If not, how did you know if it was safe to have intercourse? Thankyou for all the information you give us🤍
