    These sessions are better than Netflix. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy just listening / watching, and how grateful I am that you take time to do this. It reminds me grad school, just taking in knowledge from an expert and learning. It’s so enriching.

    About the skincare lines. I’m always disappointed that they rarely do a sunscreen. I think I heard that it’s hard and has a ton of regulations but as important as it is and the lack there of good ones (especially for dark skin, and especially, especially tinted or mineral for dark skin). It’s definitely a huge space for better options at least in the US I think.

    Hey Doc, your next q and a could you talk about the recent development / research on sunscreen being toxic after a preiod of sun exposure? I live in the Whitsundays, Australia. Where we use alot of sunscreen. Sharks arent bad here in paradise 🙂 its the irukandji jellyfish or the salt water croc you need to be mindful of. Some sharks are tagged and can be tracked. Not that it makes a difference haha.

    Hello, thanks for all the time you give to your TH-cam channel. In what cases is double cleansing unecessary? I hate double cleansing but feel guilty when I don’t! I don’t wear makeup just sunscreen.

    • @kategolden8840
      @kategolden8840 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your sunscreen is waterproof or if you use a lot it is better to double cleanse. You could try using micellair water if you dislike the oily feeling of balm cleansers.

      I don’t have “sensitive skin” but using Retin A (Rx) was “too much” if I tried using it multiple days in a row. So now, I use it every other day (so about 3x week) and I use a compatible moisturizer on top. On the “other” nights, I use CeraVe moisturizing cream (big jar from Sams, Costco or Walmart). I use an eye cream too. In the mornings, I use a VitaC cream,, and sunscreen. I don’t use an eye cream in the morning if ill be wearing mascara as it causes “panda eyes”.

    In your practice, how often do you use lasers/IPL to treat things like Rosacea, Poikiloderma, or for anti-aging? If applying heat to the skin causes redness, increase aging and destroys collagen.. how is the heat from BBL or IPL or even lasers for that matter beneficial and actually treats skin conditions? I understand that these devices penetrate further into the skin to targeted areas, but they still cause surface heat and can actually cause burns... Confusing how this actually works if a simple hair dryer blown on your face can cause damage but a laser heat is beneficial?

    An ancient pharmacist - seriously, the lady must have been 90 or so - told me once that tea tree oil would repel head lice. I didn't try it, because I was big into science based medicine. My kid was in school and lice were a big problem at that school. Maybe I should have tried it, because he did catch them, and it was one of the worst experience of my entire life as a parent.

    • @awkwardgenxer1023
      @awkwardgenxer1023 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There was a lice outbreak in my daughter’s school and my daughter’s teacher was spraying a tincture of tea tree on their hair and her charges did not get lice. My daughter has super sensitive skin and is eczema prone and she was fine. Super anecdotal but some people just seem to know how to get results through determination.

    • @violet4481

      Tinted sunscreen contains iron oxides that prevent not only from UVA and UVB, but from the blue light from the sun as well. It also helps to even out the skin tone. It is highly recommended for people with melasma and hyperpigmentation.

      you could look into niacinamide, alpha arbutin and/or tranexamic acid for acne scars and hyperpigmentation. You don't purge with them en they are generally well tolerated by sensitive skin. But if you do use them for the first time it still is a good idea to patch test. Hope this helps :)

      While it cannot be conclusively said to be "as effective as tretinoin", studies do show that adapalene certainly can improve fine lines and wrinkles (as well other signs of photoaging). Check out these two studies, for instance (available at pubmed):
