Believe or not, as long as the legal system is not changed, Oakland will be the same Oakland.

have u been to oakland before? it was the same as now. the same thugs and criminals running the streets. u can't defend urself cause u're the one getting to trouble , these criminals can't get arrested, they got taken in for couple hours and release back to the street. catch and release, it's state polycies not just oakland. majority of the population in oakland are black, they don't blame themselves for all the looting and robbing. the same happening in SF but they defend the mayor cause she's black. if i was in this mayor i would resign and let these folks pick their black mayor, and the same thing will go on and on but they won't complain cause that's their own.@@Austin-ub2gi

DA Price said she will not use incarceration as a form of punishment while she's in office. If you don't recall the DA, recalling the mayor and beefing up the defunded police departments will mean NOTHING if these criminals just get a slap on the wrist once arrested

I’m not a huge fan of Thao, but let’s be honest the prior mayor screwed Oakland years ago! The prior mayor was progressive and supported, “Defund the police” and BLM. Oh, not mention she let go of the Warriors and the Raiders. 😅
I know...however its just easier to point at the current mayor while everyone overlooks the previous mayor and the issues that followed. The so called community advocated for less funding and through out the county, they voted in their current DA which advocated on many of their behalf and thus little to no prosecution will take place. I honestly feel like the B community causes their own destructions without ever admitting any issues or willing to have an honest dialogue about problems stemming from the community like "culture". The overwhelming majority of videos regarding mass retail robberies are carried out by whom? Until an honest discussion takes place....the community will continue to degrade and disappear overtime.

@@frv1995 she was a council member for district 4 at one point but at that time her focus was more "programs" directed at youth diversion to mental health which many people supported. She labeled herself as a "progressive"and so the idea that she answered the black community with their issues with the police funding and etc. She basically did what the community wanted. I wouldn't necessarily blame her for the police defending...Mayor Libby was the one at the forefront of the whole defund the police with BLM. Thao only carried out the rest of the mission. If any we should look at the black community as the core of the problem. They wanted defunding and money redirected into other youth programs which they got. The whole crime spree and mass mobs isn't Thao's fault but she holds some accountability to that. Most of that accountability would fall both on the black DA Pamela and her goals to help combat "systematic wrongs" by defending most criminals who looks like her tooth and nails. That basically gave criminals within her community the green light to create all the chaos we see today. We don't see mass mobs of whites or Hispanics or Asians ransacking retail stores to assaulting mom and pops shops. There is a big issue within the black community but as always many of their own people don't care to listen nor want to have an honest dialogue that whatever it is with their culture seems to breed a lot of delinquents and criminals. Being poor isn't an excuse or else... everyone else would've been participating in these endless videos after videos of retail theft and city chaos

Good luck Oakland, but this is a waste of time if votes don’t clean house and elect competent people who deliver results.
A lot of these people who are for recalling the Oakland mayor have defund the police Oakland City Council President Nikki Fortunato Bas in the lead for Alameda County Supervisor seat district 5.
There needs to be a mechanism in place where legal, taxpaying, American residents can remove any politician, judge, DA if they are not doing their job.
Or a rule that states if you recall you takeover and do a better job in 6 months or get ousted, too

Sheng Thao has been in city leadership for 5+ years - first as Councilmember and now as mayor. Thao and her majority council clic passed failed policies. Oakland gets worse each year they are in office.

I Have a lots of friends and family members that are from Oakland that moved out because it was getting crazy and I hate that fact that now they’re telling me that I should move out from somewhere I grow up and I love deeply that’s why, I will never move out and give up on our city that we call the town. The past 2 Oakland mayors should've been recalled. Sheng Thao isn't the first mayor to mess up Oakland. lol surprising that all of a sudden everyone is mad about crime and potholes when this has been going on for decades.

Their only target is "Thao" and not because she's incompetent but because she answered the community which considered themselves to be victims to the system. She held back funding and diverted those to "social programs", but more so we have a DA "black" who answered her community with basically reducing if not prosecuting any individuals that are seen to be victims of the system. Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of the crimes (assault, shooting and mass robberies) happens to come from people who look like the DA and the community which advocated for less police funding and better program. This is the result....the statistic speaks clearly but it tends to fall on deaf ears. The mayor isn't technically the problem, the problem is the council members and the DA who has more power in either alleviating the problem or accelerating the problem.

It's also the progressive judges in Oakland. Over 350,000 illegal immigrants were granted asylum in and near the Fruitvale area by judges from this county over the last 10 years.
