- Several fast-food chains in Oakland are implementing significant adjustments in response to the local crime impact. This includes the closure of dining rooms at a Taco Bell and the necessity for Raising Caine's to shut down their indoor seating. Additionally, we'll explore the issue of abandoned cars across different neighborhoods, with some vehicles left untouched (outside of the graffiti) for over a year.

Oakland is a third world city. So this comes as a shock to no one.
I've traveled extensively and most 3rd world countries are safer than Oakland

Try living close to downtown Portland Oregon. Bums, assorted drug addicts, throwaway kids, drunks, and just plain batshit crazy people. Moving to Vegas. Much more quiet in Henderson. Only it cost more is the problem and after funding the Oregon State tax for decades, it would have been much nicer to enjoy the places these homeless destroy on a daily basis. So many of the nice parks are so scary, you’re risking your life entering them.

I came to this country in the mid 80s and settled in SF. Even back then Oakland already had a reputation as a crime ridden city. But the current situation is on an entirely new level.
This is why i don’t blame the Raiders leaving the City.

Even though I am a Republican, I would have to say that just changing local government wouldn't work overnight though. It also takes community involvement, not just putting it upon the authorities. The one guy said, "...I want somebody to protect the citizens." What are you going to do, have cops stationed in each and every public place in the city? Be realistic! It takes parents seeing to proper education for their kids and not punishing the teachers who try to do it!

Crazy to me that anyone would want to open or retain a business in Oakland. At this point, cut your losses and just move your business to another less dangerous city. The warning signs, red flags, etc are all there... if you choose to ignore them then you cant really complain about it.

If they arrest someone then that means a police officer has to drive one person to the county jail in Pleasanton but if the city jail was opened they could just take them there and when they have a bus load of criminals they would only need a few police officers to take them away from the city . When they release someone from Santa Rita county jail they can choose to go to a different at the bus stop outside the county jail

Five years ago Oakland seemed like it was on its way to becoming a nice city, with new restaurants and modern apartments popping up every few months. Now it's gone in the total opposite direction. I don't understand what is happening in US city right now. Homelessness and crime are spreading at an alarming rate.
The answer: zero bail and defunding the police. 😭

Ask yourself this? Why is this not happening in Alameda, right on the other side of the bridge? Their fast food restaurants & grocery stores all seem normal over there. It is sad & depressing that if I want to feel safe & normal, I have to drive away to alameda to shop where I know my car won’t get burglarized or where I don’t have to wait for assistance to unlock a cabinet. I blame oaklands mayor and her colleagues for allowing Oakland’s get this way. Because majority of Oakland citizens are great and supportive human beings!
