  • I was getting some questions from a few folks around doing parallel processing and stereo effects on the QC. Here's a video where I try to go through the basics. If there are additional questions please put them in the comments and I'll do another video.
    You can find the presets and captures under my Neural account (davlavMusic).

    This is great information! Your series of tone walkthroughs and now this video are helping me get more interesting sounds out of my QC. Thank you very much! I would be interested in even more sound design tutorials with the QC. Even basic things like signal chain orders, why one would place one effect in a chain somewhere, beginner approaches to tweaking amp settings, anything along those lines will have my eyes and my likes. Again, thank you!

    Good piece. I usually run two amps in stereo to FOH at house. I use the first two lines on the QC for amps cabs compression and dirt pedals, then run time based effects in the second two lines on the QC often in parallel w chorus etc, multiple delays and reverb.. I usually pan my cabs about 2/3rds to get the separation. I also use hi low cuts prior to the outputs so I can adjust levels on the two channels. This weekend I'm running a Vox and Lonestar, but depending on the song I will use Plexis, Matchless etc. The QC is simply amazing, I used to lug a huge pedalboard and a Matchless head to church and now I carry my rig in a backpack, it's more versatile and sounds awesome

      Frankly, I wasn't sure how it would behave until I tried all the parameters. I think its something that Neural should change. I realize the amps are mono in real life, but there's no reason that amps can't maintain the integrity of the stereo signal - its software. I realize that's different than in real life but it would be an improvement, IMO.

    The crossover is for splitting a mono source signal over two bands split at whatever crossover frequency set. One such routine use is for bass, where using a crossover the low frequency part of the split path say below 500Hz is to be processed with compressor and EQ only, whiule the high frequency part of the split path above 500Hz is to be processed with distortion going into an amp and cab, all in order to produce that more modern distorted bass tone.
    It's also useful for guitar where you wanna send lower frequencies that contain the fundamental to trigger a synth block, while the high frequency path gets regular guitar treatment.

It is amazing how many people may look at a video or see your comments with not even so much as a response. I know this is not a new phenomenon. You can see in your analytics for this page. You'd use a crossover to separate out lows and highs. Eg; crossover at ~250Hz, send anything below that to a cleaner amp (bass amp?), and anything above to a distorted amp. Keeps the lows from getting muddied up with distortion, but keeps them in the signal to fill it out. Well worth experimenting with!

      @@davlavmusic7070 It can be sensitive to exact frequency (I pulled 250Hz out of the air, you'll need to sweep to find a good one, I used to use a Boredbrain Transmutron that didn't have values on the dial...), and especially sensitive to the blend. However, if you dial it correctly, you can get some incredible results.

    Hello and thank you for the videos, very informative for a new QC user like me. I'm coming from fractal ax8 (LOVE IT). In ax8 there is a block called "enhancer" that you usually put at the end of the path for a pseudo "dual guitar" effect. I'm the only electric guitar in the band and that sounded great live. Do you thing is there any way to re create that on QC? (not with chorus). Thanks

    • @davlavmusic7070
      @davlavmusic7070  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There's not really that kind of doubling effect on the QC. There's a few options to mimic that - you can use some of the time delay on IRs, fine pitch shifts, or even a dual delay (which is what I used on my Guthrie Govan patch video). I'll put together a video going over these options.

    • @davlavmusic7070
      @davlavmusic7070  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The amps are still mono, so the stereo cabs only change it slightly. If you are running two amps in parallel, you can merge them before the cab block and use a stereo cab instead of using two different cab blocks. Might save a little CPU that way.

    So I have a patch that I want to run dual amps with scenes where one is clean and the other is distorted. I have my distorted scene on row 1 and I have that output going to row 3 which is where my clean amp and effects are. I turn everything on and off the way that I want it and when I try to switch from one scene to another the amp doesn’t switch. What did I do wrong?

    Nice tutorial. What if I set the output to a mono output, like output 3 for example, and let's say that i have a stereo effect on the line. Would the output be a sum of the stereo in mono or would it be only one of the stereo channel? I am asking this in the case I would like to have a stereo sound to output on the PA from output 1 and 2 and at the same time I would like to monitor from a speaker in mono from output 3 (for example I don't want to carry two speakers but I still would like to have a stereo sound at the front of the house)? Thanks in advance

    • @davlavmusic7070
      @davlavmusic7070  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      As long as you choose the the output from the mono list (i.e. you're not sending the output to 3/4 and just using the 3 line), it will push the stereo signal back to mono. For example, I just tested the ping pong delay going out mono Output 1. When I did I got all the delay pings just in one channel.

    The ping pong delay trick is a great litmus test ... So running stereo cabs, Is in the mono cablock there's a pan feature ... But that is not stereo .. Unless you placed a stereo effect after the monocab block even if the Mics are panned ?? Or 2 separate cabs?

    • @davlavmusic7070
      @davlavmusic7070  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you put the delay after the amp and before the cab and then hard pan the mics on the cab you will get the stereo effect. But if its in front of the amp it will negate the stereo even if you have the mics panned.
