I haven't done very many amp captures, but I've loved capturing NDSP plugins and capturing Tonex and NAM captures. I'm currently gigging with recaptured NAM captures. It's the best my live tone has ever sounded!
Also , what are your thoughts with quad cortex in reference to .. do you prefer in pre-amp, return loop, 4 cable method , a real cab or frfr? Very curious. I prefer the real cab as of now but I am on the fence. Do you have a video on that or maybe make one. I am new to the quad cortex, a late beginner. Just saying
Thanks for putting this video together. Great overview of the capture process. I have been researching a lot on the QC, as I’m still considering making the switch over from the Fractal. Let me ask… When you’re capturing your amps, how should you set the EQ, gain and master volume settings? Should they all be set to 12 o’clock in a flat/neutral setting? Also, once captured, how much range of gain is available via the QC or do you need to definitely do multiple captures in order to capture all gain ranges from clean to high gain, as you demonstrated? I also loved that you demonstrated how the QC reacted to rolling the volume back! Something nobody talks about, but is always an issue with many of the digital systems vs tube amps. Thanks so much!!
Thanks and glad you enjoyed the video :-) You would want to dial in your amp and choose and place your mic in a manner that it sounds as you want it to for the finished product. QC will just create a copy of what it is fed. I capture separate captures at numerous gain levels for the most accurate representation of the amp. Hope that helps :-)
Jason I noticed you did not tralk about the type switch that is after in 2 level and that it was left on instrument vs Mic. Wouldnt we want that on mic since its typically a mic or a load box inputting the signal back to QC at that point ? Obviously When you used auto it actually reduced the level slighty before you put back to 0db. Um confused about that part.
Great vid as usual Jason. Question, I use return 1 as my electric guitar In for my QC presets as the manual says I can. What’s the difference between return 1 abba Input 1 or 2 especially with using captures and how do I make return 1 sound and respond like Input 1 or 2?
can you run multiple mics into an interface and route them all to a line out into the QC or can it only handle 1 mic? What I'm thinking of doing is running a Friedman BE 100 DLX and a JCM800 into a A/B/Y box and run the input from the QC into the A/B/Y box. I was going to hook both amps up to my Marshall 1960B cab in Stereo mode and mic the cab. It basically makes the 4x12 into two 2x12 so I'd like to run 4 mics. 2 Sennheiser Condensers and 2 SM57 through my Scarlett 18i20 to capture the blended amps. I like to run these amps stereo, so I thought I could make 1 amp capture of both amps running together. Will this work do you think?
Question, if I don’t have a mic for the cabinet, and I only want to capture the amp and I don’t need an IR, I don’t have a load box, but I can connect the head to my cab, can I just capture the amp head without the cab mic?, love your videos BTW, Thanks in advance!
Was def hoping for a sharp A/B comparison, but although you skipped that part, I really really love this video. This is the future.

That is awesome! Much more to come for QC :-)
Can you share information on the Mic Pre you used.....and the settings? Thanks.
Love your videos!!! They should pay you for doing these videos!!!
Truly the best!!
Thank you so much, really appreciate the support! 😄
@@JasonSadites definitely no joke you are the best!! Much appreciated.

Say are saying that you created 5 separate captures for each scene? Why cant you just use the gain on the 1 capture to increase the gain?

Yes, but you have to have a load box or a line out from the head. Do not plug anything into the cortex that is for a speaker
