    Things like ”keep the QC volume knob on full” should be on page 1 in the QC manual! I learned about many months after having bought the QC and created lots of presets. So much more add’l info in the video, too! Thx!

      I like to run mine at 85 so that if front of house is under mixing my bass, as most FOH chickleheafs usually do, I have some room to slowly turn it up.

    I didn’t know about the Global EQ until this video… 🤩
    I adjusted it and assigned it to the output that I use; now I have to adjust my presets 🙄, but I am Much happier with the overall sound now. 💖
    🙏 Thank You !!

    Great video! I recently had to mess with these screens for the first time as well, had to turn the input volume down because my active pickups just weren’t working with clean tones

    Hey man,
    I gotta say, I've been following you ever since I got myself into the QC realm and I really appreciate your deep dive into all aspects of the QC sys. It had definitely cut corners for me and turned the learning curve to smooth sailing. This way I managed to get "hands-on" experience, dial in the tones I need quickly and run off to rehearsals and onto stage.
    The one issue I'd say I have is matching levels in different presets. I try and stick with fewer amp/cab models, but at times the difference in total output volume is annoying. I level the presets in my DAW, using the Led meters, but in the real world the differences are more noticeable.
    As I play in different bands of totally different genres, I dial in extremely different sounds (Pop Dance vs. Southern Rock).
    Any tricks and advice on total output levels would be appreciated (especially the difference in levels between clean/more acoustic/funk stuff vs. Overdriven to distortion sounds)
    Btw, I constantly use the vol. Knob on my guitar and now it doesn't react the same.
    Cheers man.
    I enjoy your videos

      Glad the videos help. I agree that the QC never really facts to the guitar volume like a real amp. Using a compressor can help but it's never quite the same.
      For managing levels, I think it's always going to be hard to get right until you're paying at volume. Like I said in the video, is use the level on the output block. But getting the different types of presets to match perfectly well take some trial and error. Sorry I don't have anything more direct to solve the problem.

    i dont use the qc as my main interface as i want to control the monitor volume with my focusrite , i use the QC as my imput device and my interface as my output device in logic prox . im only a week into owning the machine, i like it and im sure over time ill find the 4-5 sounds i will get the most use from, some presets all sound the same , couldnt tell you what amp they are using tbh , id like if if they gave you a matched cab for each amp , especially if its a combo , a twin should have jensens as standard, and a hiwat should have a couple of fane's etc. thats not too much to ask, great content here , thanks for these videos , they are more informative than neural , the manual isnt up to scratch and the amp list isnt even numbered ! laugh out loud

    Love these videos. Thank you. I am still interested to know the optimal input level to aim for from guitar in to the QC and the same coming out of the preset and from QC to FOH etc. Also I tend to disengage the volume knob when playing live to avoid inadvertent movement impacting FOH etc.

    I watched your new video on converting presets to scenes just before watching this. I guess if you do that, you will lose that last control over volume at the output stage because any adjustments will be global to all the scenes in the preset.

    I’ve used the main volume on the Quad Cortex to set my stage volume since I bought it. I’ve never noticed any change or loss of tone at different settings of the knob. Although I’ve heard the same, that it affects the tone. I usually have it around half way up give or take a half inch each way.

      I’m using it at home. I’ve followed the advice re put the volume up and go to the screen pull it down and set the volume there. Unless I’m wrong it was so loud I scared everyone in my home. I just use it as a regular volume knob. 🤷🏻‍♂️ps I use a regular guitar cab and amp’s return fx.

    Helpful video. A question: why do you split the last delay into row 4? Wouldn't it be same as adjusting the mix level on it and keeping it in row 3?

    • @Righetho
      @Righetho ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The way he’s doing he can have the delay full blast not interfering within the “dry” signal, the way he did there the dry sound will never be buried in the mix, and u can still hear good amount of the last delay block, doing it in the same path, even though u can manage the amount of delay, there ain’t no sweet spot balancing the amount of it being heard well enough without burying the dry signal in the output…hence why he added the last gain block, to level things up again…

    • @davlavmusic7070
      @davlavmusic7070  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you get a slightly different result doing the effect in a separate path, but it can be a subtle difference. In this preset I was trying to recreate the "Halo" thing - experimenting with different approaches for sequencing the delays and reverb.

    This is a really helpful video, thank you! Can you please explain how you handle any clipping (whether audible - I hear some crackling on some of my QC presets, which isn't intentional distortion from a pedal block - or visible, via the 'Out Level' on the Multi Out block) Do you simply turn down the volume within the Multi Out block, until the 2 horizontal vumeter bars show no red areas when you play? Or is there more to it than that?

    • @davlavmusic7070
      @davlavmusic7070  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've had that happen some times. I'd start by turning off each block one by one to see if you can find the culprit. I've had the analog delay do that and the C2 chorus as well I think. I usually end up moving those blocks further up the preset. For example, I've had the analog delay cause problems after the amp and cab, but if I put it before the amp, or even between the amp and the cab it seems to resolve it. I'm not sure why, but that's how I've addressed it.

    • @theoc7805

      That's really helpful, thank you. I downloaded this Stereo Lonestar preset, by the way, and I love it, it sounds fantastic (actually better than some of the Amalgam captures I have!) One question for you though, please; the top amp/cab in the split path is really quiet, almost to the extent that if I turn them both off I don't hear much of a difference. When I look at the Multi Out block, the left path output is much much lower than the right path. I've tried turning up that amp output, and also the cab block output, and that doesn't really make much difference - in fact strangely it seems that if I reduce the output the amp gets louder. Is this intentional, and how would I go about increasing the volume of the top amp/cab? Thank you again @@davlavmusic7070

    • @davlavmusic7070
      @davlavmusic7070  ปีที่แล้ว

      @theoc7805 strange. I do not have that issue. The amps are split fully left and right and I get an even volume overall. Let me refresh the preset in the cloud- maybe something got messed up when I saved it.

      @davlavmusic7070  ปีที่แล้ว

      @theoc7805 I refreshed the preset. Try downloading again? If it still acts weird I'm not sure what the problem is.

    Finding this really helpful. Can you tell me . If placing effects after amps. Is that the same as placing in send &return on a physical amp? Thanks

    • @davlavmusic7070
      @davlavmusic7070  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not quite, but it's the closest you'll get most of the time. On an amp the effects loop is between the preamp and power amp. Putting the QC effect after the amp block is putting the effect after the power amp.

    I’ve already looked in the group but I still haven’t found anything, I use my quadcortex connected on the iPhone as an audio interface, and a protake app that records video and audio together, in the monitoring of the app it’s not clipping and also in the quad nothing is clipping, but when I give play on the video the effects keep clipping, I use an otg adapter to connect the quad on the iPhone, is this adapter that is giving this bad audio?
