I have to wonder if being hit by a bananarang in real life would actually obliterate you (as these numbers suggest) or whether it would just explode as soon as it hits anything because it's a goddamn banana.
Star fury and Star wrath are made of stars which well are very heavy, ok, now imagine a sword made of that being thrown at speeds I want to say probably at 200ft a second
Plz calculate how hard would a terraria seed (fired from a blowgun) hurt you if you got hit with it IRL ? This means you can also find how hard the Terrarian blows
It should also be noted that the Bananarang will always return to you, so its still coming back to the thrower and likely killing them in the process as well. Terrarians must have a hell of arm to stop it dead in its tracks.
you could say that the collision between the boomerangs and the enemy or object in this game are 100% elastic interactions, that would give you conservation of KE and momentum
Imagine throwing 10 comically large bananas with a force of a car crash, with enough power of destroying a human in a single hit, with nothing that lives having the ability to stop it... then using it on a flower called "plantera". Seems like overkill.
I absolutely love these kinds of videos, and it's arguably a spiritual successor to the useless info series, since there's only so much useless info to be found. Is this data gonna help with our gameplay? No, but it's still very interesting to watch, even if I don't really understand half the math. It'd be interesting to make a video or series of videos comparing guns to their real life counterparts, like I believe you did for the sniper rifle.
Considering that we have only one bananarang now, and you can throw new bananas every once in a while. Bananas has potassium in them. Every building is made with bases and oxides. Bananas also have some hydrogen. If we use some force, we can turn the oxides into water. And potassium with water reacting makes a flame. Bananarang, in conclusion, might be powerful enough to be bringed in war
I think the coin gun’s real life implications would be far less insane than those of any star-based weapons. Star cannon, super star shooter, starfury and star wrath all have star projectiles, and if you use the actual density of a star, I think we will have a new champion for weapons that should hit like tanks
The solar eruption is described as "the full force of the sun" or something to that effect. However, a SINGLE solar fragment is described as "containing the fury of the universe".
Terraria weapons are hilariously good at breaking the laws of physics to the point that I suspect every weapon in Terraria to just magically alter reality with some sort of cartoon physics so they actually work. So technically all classes are mage class, the notion of Terraria’s classes are a lie.
"Oh man, om on my way to work, wait? Is that guy threatening me with a banana? That's so dumb! It is a pretty big banana though." John Smith's last words, before being (most likely) crushed by a moving car 5 times.
For context, the average .50 BMG round has around (heh) 18KJ of energy. So one of these absolute units of bananas would equal 2,5 simultaneous .50 BMG shots.
Next time do the slap hand. The math will be a little more complicated, but by slapping something really hard and measuring the knockback, you should get some interesting results
Good video! But I believe the bananarang is just a regular boomerang, like the wooden one, but shaped and painted like a banana, probably out of banana tree wood. That would mean it doesn have the depth of a scaled up banana, but the depth of a scaled up wooden boomerang
hey is there any chance at the end of the video you could show a simulation to display what a projectile would look like in real life, there are loads of websites i think or cheap games that can let you do that. Great video tho and its great seeing physics and terraria mix
I was rather impressed by this video! The only part I was skeptical about going in was how he would define the time interval of the impulse, or in other words, how long it takes for the banana to give all of its kinetic energy to the enemy, and although he skimmed right past it, using a tick for this time interval makes a lot of sense. I still feel like assuming a perfectly elastic collision, meaning that kinetic energy is conserved, is more sensical in determining the force that is exerted, but I understand choosing to assume a perfectly inelastic collision. I’m curious as to what their physics background is! As a physics student, I think analyses like these are super fun (I’ve done my fair share of them, lol), and I think that they lead to a lot of great interest in studying physics, demystifying the subject and making it less scary!
Technically, an elastic collision with a bananarang would be twice as much force because it could be assumed that the force required to negate the momentum of the bananarang in one direction and fully accelerate it to its initial speed in an opposite direction, the force imparted on the target would be twice as much as the value you calculated. This is the reason that NASA makes their solar sails out of reflective material. When photons reflect off of them the the momentum is multiplied and put into the solar sails
Theory 1: Bananas store extra energy as heat so the bananas deal burn damage without dot. Theory 2: Through the magnetic field of the banana and our magnetic field the energy is piezoelectric (so through electricity caused by change in magnetic field) thats how they gain energy
If you're really trying to be hyper-accurate, I feel like we shouldn't discount the idea that it's just a normal, really heavy boomerang painted like a banana.
