Crimson is basically nightmare fuel. But the Corruption sorta has a vibe I'd describe as "it's cool and groovy when you're evil".

For me personally I just think rot and decay is a cooler theme than blood and gore. I also really like that the corruption uses vibrant green as an accent colour where the crimson is just red on red.

First of all, blood and gore is not the theme of the Crimson. The Crimson is a hive mind, so the theme is living matter.

@littlemoth4956 Yes, it is yellow and red. This is true as ichor the blood of the gods in Greek mythology was yellow or golden. Even cursed flames have their place in Greek mythology being a vibrant mix of greens. In the end, i like both biome colour schemes and i like both biomes overall, but the noble purple and its opposite a green contrast so well together

I have a bias for crimson, since it was my first biome of the two, but I've always loved the corruption's aesthetic and lore. The thought of a biome created and existing becuz of the sins of terrarians is pretty dark, reflected in how everything in the biome is decayed and rotten.
Crimson is no slouch tho. Just step into an underground crimson snow biome, look at the background, and you’ll get a grim reminder that blood also has a freezing point.
The underground snow biome with the corruption also harbours a frozen creature as we see. Eyes and teeth sticking out so it's really just perspective tbh

@X-plodeYT it has a nice colour palette and has some decent weapons. However, I would probably put it below the corruption and crimson due to some of the item farms like the rod of discord.

a point i don't see brought up often is how much nicer the corruption's naming variety is. it has the prefixes ebon-, demon-, shadow ___, eater of ___, it's quite varied. the crimson uses the prefix crim- for nearly everything (crimstone, crimtane ore, crimeras, crimslimes, crimson hearts...), it's a very minor thing but to me it just gives the corruption a small amount of extra depth
also, purple/magenta and green are direct opposites in the color wheel, which not only further enforces the point of it being an evil version of the forest biome, but also makes the bright green cursed flames look awesome with the dark purple enemies

I have a couple smaller reasons
1: The undertaker has faster speed, however the musket’s raw damage makes up for it, and even allows it to stay relevant into early hardmode.
2: The corruption has cool and maybe even “funky” music and the crimson is just gross noises.
3: The corruption is the og.

4: The Vilethorn is pretty great for mage playthroughs and goes perfectly with the band of star power. the crimson rod… It’s good for arenas and that’s it.
5: The Ball o hurt is really convenient to have access to pre-boss, the meatball is locked behind the BoC, and the mace, even upgraded, sucks.
6: the shadow orb pet is cool and chill and just floats there peacefully. The crimson heart pet is bouncing around and gushing blood everywhere, very obnoxious.
7: Ebonwood matches the stone and sand. Shadewood doesn’t and is annoying, because crimwood sounds stupid.
8: On the 3DS version, the very loud and frightening face monster sound can play anywhere, anytime, for no reason.
9: Tying in with the crimson being gross ichor is… Just think about it.
10: The corruption chasms are much easier to enter (Straight line down) And easer to make an arena in (Just place torches lol)
11: Speaking of chasms, demonite has a much higher spawn rate in corrupt chasms, I cannot say the same for crimtane.
12: The crimson is so pathetic I thought 11 actual reasons it’s just plain worse.

While the Crimson is generally stronger, I do prefer the Corruprion. Its the OG world evil, and ironically makes me feel less sick than the blood and gore theme of the Crimson. Also helps, that purple is my favorite color, while red is my least favorite one.

I adore the Ancient Shadow Helmet as it is my favorite cosmetic helmet in the game, while at the same time the Vampire Knives are my favorite secondary weapon in the game. The decision between the two biomes is so difficult that I go for both biomes in the same world whenever possible

I like the crimson because it ties back to the final boss being dismembered by the dryad,
first the eye then the brain, it make me think of castlevania 2.
The grimson armor regeneration effect is what won me over like it definitely helps me save up on potions and if i take a regeneration potion then most of the bosses are easy asf like the brain of chutlu and deerclopse
Deerclops and brain are already crazily easy, deerclops does barely owt damage and doesn't really despawn, and BOC has the lowest boss hp and can be knocked back, and I prefer the flat bonuses from the corruption armor speed and crit boosts are really good for ranger and melee.

I do think the corruption is "spiffier", but the crimson reflects the violence and unity of nature in a raw and beautiful way. (I swear I'm not trying to be edgy I just think it's really cool)

Corruption is better because it's easier to traverse, defeat and cleanse.
In hard mode you can just make sky biomes of both buying seed from the driad.

Personally, I actually kinda like both the crimson and the corruption not just for items (or bosses). Mostly just because the crimson reminds me heavily of scp 610, the flesh that hates, a living hateful “organism”. And the corruption is this sickly, diseased land. Both are oppressive and deserve some love.
For bosses, same deal. BoC I enjoy simply because I just like its design and the fight. EoW I like for the same reasons (admittedly im easy to please)
Items? Since I’m biased for magic I like life drain and golden shower, but cursed flames does bring out the hurt. Plus the dart rifle carried me all the way to golem (I legit grinded that bugger out just to get the stynger it was that good). Overall, I’m just the guy who likes both lands for their own reasons.

I just started playing terraria again yesterday for the first time in years. I always pick Corruption because the theme and weapons are OG.

okay I will say, the edgelords that enjoy crimson like it for the wrong reason, the reason the crimson stuff is so cool is because of its relation to anatomy and organs, the spiders aren't just spiders, they're an organ, the crimera isn't just a less dripped eater of souls, it feels like im fighting a white blood cell.

I did only one noob playthrough (with random, and got corruption). In next game i gonna give crimson try, but the're already things i love in purple one: Music, EoW (he is so cute) and Scourge (it's so much fun!). I never understood why corruption getting bullied everywhere, if the bioms should be equal?

Although I play on a Crimson World (I am still a new player). I did start out on a Corruption world which I evacuated due to bad Rng with the Corruption.
Either Way I prefer Corruption Lategame. Ichor and Vampire Knifes are cool and my better Terraria Friends tell me they are Op and Underrated but Just looking at the base Scourge of Corrupter, which I used on an Alternate Journey God Mode Fake run, God was it so good. I just closed my eyes held down the button and everything died. Not to mention the Music of Corruption. Its groovy yet when it slows down and stings back to Menacing it feels deadly. The crimson is trying too hard to be edgy when some guy with a whip and 2 deformed Kiwis can single handedly take down its big bad boss.
Also I mainly play summoner (aside from goofy god mode runs) when I actually play and the added critical hit chance and Speed are so useful since either way I'll need to dodge than tank.

PLEASE listen to the ending of the crimson theme, it is probably my favorite part of the whole Terraria OST. If only the rest of the song was that good....
Most of the terraria ost is good its very rare to get a miss I don't mind the crimson theme but I think there are better ones.

I never paid attention when starting the world. And by the time I reached the Crimson zone, I already made too much progress. I got a nurse, an arms dealer, and a demolitionist by the time I discovered the place.

While I find the corruption more pleasing to look at, I honestly prefer to play on drunk worlds. Both the biomes, double the fun! I also do like the otherworldly soundtracks for the corruption too, they sound much better than the otherworldly crimson tracks in my opinion. But that absolute BEAT in the middle of the underground crimson track (regular track, not otherworldly), OH its so good!
In modern terraria, the crimson and corruption have been the most balanced than they have ever been. To summarize my thoughts:
The orb weapons are both very good, but the corruption vile thorn is much better than the crimson rod. Undertaker and musket are about the same in terms of power, but the musket is "spiffier" in my opinion.
I think the crimson armor is better than the corruption armor IF you are playing Melee. The crimson armor was such a help to me until I got my hands on molten armor. I could definitely see the speed and crit chance being better for rangers though.
The worm scarf and the brain are both equally powerful and depends on build and or preference.
The Biome chest weapons are also very on par with each other. The dart rifle works better with cursed flame darts while the dart pistol works better for ichor darts (due to its faster fire rate). Even after the buffs, I believe the chain guillotines are a good early hardmode weapon, but are outclassed by things such as the dao of pow, drippler crippler and the bannanarang. Fetid bahgnahks are an absolute must for tank users and completely shreds the destroyer.
Both magic weapons are excellent in their own right.
Also, I am a big fan of melee tank builds, and while I concur the scourge of the corrupter is a fantastic weapon, it is *NOT* better than the vampire knives. The vampire knives are an irreplaceable tool for melee and especially tank players, and any class can benefit from having some life steal.

I've always liked the corruption better. Purple is a more expensive color than the common red. That and cursed fire as a sub theme is better than ichor(God's blood, pronounced eye-core). Not to mention the "cursed dark forest" theme.
Tbh I only like the crimson more because I'm super into the phyrexians from magic the gathering, curruption is still awesome tho 💜💚

yeah as a melee/ summon player, its crimson for me. scarf and other items from the corruption are really good, dont get me wrong, but you have no idea how much more useful stacking complete damage negation is when you are forced to play really dangerously close to a boss most of the time. not to mention the crimson armor- i feel like im crazy, because ive never had nearly as much success with demon armor as ive had with crimson armor. that regen is so important for when you *do* get hit, which while no one seems to want to admit it, will happen alot through the course of the game. even if its just saving me on potions while im in the middle of spelunking, it still is actively doing something for me- the damage the demon armor gives is helpful for KILLING things, sure, but at that point most things underground and above are fairly easy to kill, so like.. do you really need it? corrupt flame is really nice, especially when you dont have a fast attack speed. but ichor is made for anything fast, so imagine just how crazy it can get when you start whip swapping, now able to apply more than just ichor as well as getting its own bonuses.
personally, ive always found the corruption to be more like a generic "evil" thing, where the crimson is like an eldritch body horror, where almost the entire biome feels like it is alive, and attempting to integrate everything else into itself for reasons beyond "i am the world evil". worm is a neat boss, but brain has no mechanical counterpart; it is entirely unique. enemies in the crimson feel much more unique, where every enemy in the corruption is either a worm or a slime.
oh, and no one can agree on if its icker sticker or ichor stichor, and i think that lil fella is incredibly funny for having such a weird name.
This is a good video and at the end of the day this is just an awesome video game we all play, but im gladly going to die on the hill made of biological nightmares beyond nature itself.

This video has inspired me to pick corruption for my mobile playthrough (i play both pc and mobile)
While I much prefer the Corruption's evils to the Crimson's body horror theme, and the Worm Scarf easily beats the Brain of Confusion, I do have to give the crimson some credit; Ichor's just a better debuff than Cursed Flames.
Shocking that the person whose entire pfp is based on eater of worlds prefers the corruption.

I prefer musket, scourge, and corruption flail as they have all been buffed, and generally speaking, vampire knives aren't as good on master or legendary mode

Sure, a chance is good, but some people prefer a flat bonus. Also, this was meant to be part of another video and is joke as not everyone's minmaxes, and some people prefer looks. The other part was crimson themed that never made it out of development

It's funny, but people still think Ichor debuff is better even when cursed inferno has better DPS generally. Ichor will make every one of your attacks (assuming the attack is higher than the enemie's defense) deal 8 more dmg while cursed inferno deals 24 dps on it's own. Yes, Ichor would technically be better DPS if you can hit your enemy very fast or with a lot of projectiles at once, but it's still quite hard to get on the level of cursed inferno as you'd have to attack 3 times a second, just to tie ichor with cursed inferno. So for slow, but high damaging weapons, cursed inferno is better.
Yeah it's just preference and probably the fact that people didn't know its been nerfed

EOW is a way better boss too, Brain of Cthulhu is just too easy and boring, you just push him away with any weapon, even if it has weak knockback and you just win

Generally it would be corruption, but crimson is also an amazing pick for ichor and weapon speed buffs

Also I think the corruption is overrated, no offense. I still like the crimson better as its hardmode enemies make it quite challenging. And I like the GORE theme better as it doesn't (to the contrast of some people) make me feel uncomfortable or leaves a mark on my mind.
ALSO I think I am not qualified enough to say all this as I have (not really) never actually had a playthrough in the corruption. I was thinking of playing through it in my next world.
Very reasonable, however from my experience the crimson is overrated, most players pick it without thinking because "its better" without doing any research and the often overhype ichor damage most people I know heavily prefer the crimson so in my eyes its a seems like a bit of a push to say that the corruption is overrated as without even testing weapons or the new buffs for them they default to the crimson , and This video was supposed to be a response to a crimson video on the DBOC channel but he delayed it and just told me to release the video

Not as good as it was and ichor usually only increases damage output by 8 on average, whereas cursed flames deal around 22 on average so I'd still take it

@@SpiffyEaterOfWorlds Generally speaking I think that corruption is better for magic and ranged because of the items it drops, and Crimson is better for melee users.

4:28 speaking of FromSoft: you ever play the older Armored Core games? I have heard that AC games of old make souls games look a bit easy… ngl, I agree with that. You want a game that stays challenging from beginning of new game to the end of new game +, play Armored Core games that are ps2 or ps1 titles… I highly recommend them over AC6, even as a diehard Armored Core fan

@@SpiffyEaterOfWorlds hey, no problem… just note that you will want to emulate if you are playing older games. Also, if you try AC6, good game, but feels nothing like the older ones, both difficulty and gameplay wise.
Just found you. I enjoyed the video, but I have a suggestion. Make the pauses between sections a wee bit longer. It's a bit jarring to see a fadeout and then hear speech midway through.
