Hello, @EthyrielY ! I found another way to make fuelless CGO: Doors, even invalid, if open or closed from its valid door block, that block will expand into whole door, repairing it. Also, doors may be used as CGO fuel. I propose following scheme: Modified 2-statue setup, with second Bast statue and CGO interacting with same right door's upper left corner, with space between two statues wider for 1 block, cycling in such way: After one press to broken campfire upper right block, upper statue must switch, repairing campfire, then intact block of left door used as a fuel must switch twice, opening door left, and repairing the door, then Bast statue must switch again, breaking campfire again.
I’m probably never going to use this since I don’t play terraria much anymore, but this could be my favourite terraria video ever. You make completely breaking the game seem so easy, make is extremely easy to understand, and make it very entertaining at the same time. *1 sub ☺️

sad im no longer up to date on terraria stuff, but coming back to the game and seeing things like this is really heartwarming. absolutely unhinged, horrendously insane/inconceivably random steps that make absolutely no sense, but end up literally changing the code of the game, while playing the game. we've come a long way from dirt in a piggy bank, super glad to see people are still putting this much love and effort into finding cool things in the game. this video was an absolute masterpiece as well, hearing the first explanation hurt my brain, but after watching such an in depth tutorial i feel like i could make this in my sleep, and write a college essay on what it does/how it works. keep up the amazing work ethyriel :)
As a programmer it’s extremely interesting that this is how the game processes items. I wish you would have gone over the INTENDED behavior and the arrangement of items internally first, because then the glitches would not seem so arbitrary. It’s a little frustrating as a programmer because it’s eventually in the video that there is a clear rhyme and reason behind why this works, and it would help to contextualize the glitch with this first. Other than that great video and crazy stuff! Edit: I don’t mean to come off as condescending. I find glitches fascinating because from my experience in making games the designers have to make decisions about how to store and arrange things in the game engine, and don’t anticipate players breaking these systems later. It’s more interesting to me to find out how these systems are set up (and WHY they might be done this way) from a design perspective first, and use that as a foundation for how to then break them. It’s a great way to learn how you might set up similar things in your own games one day! And how to maybe avoid the design oversights that lead to these glitches ;)
D'aawh, this comment actually means alot. Thanks a ton! If nothing else, knowing I was able to inform people in an entertaining way is satisfaction in it of itself.

I haven't been super in the loop with Terraria lately and thought transmutation was simply referring to the shimmer stuff... This is definitely a little bit crazier
It's worth keeping in mind that, due to hardcoded restrictions, items like the First Fractal can only be _viewed_, hence the "First Fractal Door". They delete themselves the exact same frame they spawn. However, there's a bunch of stuff you're not meant to have you can still get- like the Boring Bow, unobtainable boss bags, white cultist gear, and I think the Color Only Dye (though not sure about that one)
It still blows my mind that this bug has been lurking in the code ever since Multiplayer has existed- so, that'd be 2013, or a decade at this point. 10 years. Whew.
i remember back in the day when i played on like 1.2.9 mobile there was a glitch where you would put a stack of dirt blocks, the number of blocks in the stack being the id number to whatever item you wanted. and i dont remember the specifics but you basically could put dirt blocks in a chest, close the game, and open it back up to a terrablade or whatever you wanted. oh the good old days
When I played 1.2 on mobile, sometimes when I tried placing dirt blocks over a huge hole between two mountains, I'd get them to turn into bunnies(them being the dirt blocks)
really glad you made this! i had a sort of vague understanding of how it worked, but this really cleared up any confusion. hope this doesn't become immediately irrelevant after all the work you put into it lol
Honestly, 1.4.5 is very liable to break things, but that's why I am hellbent on breaking the new version. Transmutation will stick around, one way or another! Thank you again for the kind words^^! Cheers!
"Hey we found a way to go faster than the speed of sounds by using this new block hammering function" "Uhhhh yeah that's actually planned... probably" "Oh and we also found a way to rip apart reality" "Uhhhhhhhhhh" Relogic won't get away with that
This glitch reminds me of The Binding of Isaac. In the Repentance DLC they added the "Spindown Dice" item which lets you decrease an item's ID by one. It would be cool if Re-Logic implemented this feature in an official capacity in a similar manner, an end game item of sorts, though Journey mode fills the same role.
That would be a crazy addition, and quite a fun one at that. though, I haven't seen much direct acknowledgment from the Devs other than saying it'll be fixed maybe I need to break the game harder lol Binding of Issac is a super fun game, so seeing a reference to it is very welcome heh
You are great at explaining these wild glitches, thanks for the Guide! I sometimes wonder how people discover this stuff, can't imagine how complicated the process is
Well, it all started with trying to do some trolling with floating boulders... then I discovered you could make glitched chests... then I started trying to lockpick biome chests... Then I realized you could possibly get Zenith with it. One thing led to another, and now it's possible to kill God in under 7 minutes in this game.
14:12 good pick for background music :) also as someone who's interested in coding, this glitch and the code responsible for it is super interesting to me! thank you for this explanation, very cool
Are you on PC or console^^? If on PC, verify that you are in Multiplayer. (Host and Play works just fine. If on Console (i.e. Mobile, PS5, etc.) - you'll need to either a.) Join a server, and set it up there or b.) Have a friend join when you’re hosting, and have them set it up for you. This is due to version differences with how hosting works. On PC, hosting actually makes you a client to a server hosted in the background. On console, you are the host, meaning de-syncing doesn’t work. Hence why you need to connect to the server or have someone else connect- being the Host when using Host and Play won’t work, unfortunately. Once the setup is complete, the glitch should function identical to PC. Hope this helps^^!
@@EthyrielYi take it the host leaves and joins in order to make the bast statues visible? And also can the rest be done on a single player world? (Ps4)
This seems to be patched, at least on console. Probably not the whole thing, but an integral glitch in setup is patched. From my attempts, I think this is because you can no longer force a desync between the server and client anymore. You always see what the server sees, this means that you still see the trap door when you break the first bast statue and the sand falls, and you also still see a floating bast statue when you use the torch to update the sand and trapdoor. Because the bast statue is still there both on client and server side, you can no longer place the sandstone block because that space is being blocked by the bast statue, and the statue just breaks when another block updates somewhere
It works on console, but only if you join someone else's world- i.e., you're a client to their server. The host on console is _actually_ the server, hence why de-sync don't work- just as you observed.
I kind of get what you’re saying, but don’t truly understand a lot of it. But that deficiency is solely on my end. The video was interesting and entertaining enough that my son and I kept watching until the end. (He understood it better.)

Genuine question. Does this mod work on a modded world? If so, does the item array include modded items? Could I perform this glitch in Calamity and obtain any Calamity item? Or would I only be able to access Vanilla items with this glitch? How do mods like calamity store item info?
It _absolutely_ does. The modded items are appended after the Vanilla items, although the order isn’t known. MCGO, Philo, etc. all work though. If / when 1.4.5 breaks Transmutation, I plan to pivot to breaking mods.
@@EthyrielY just tested to make sure, it does work with mods on 1.4.3! Don’t know how this would work with multiple mods, though. Maybe alphabetical order since that’s the order it’s loaded in?
@@codenamec.a.t2480 Hrrm, possibly! Honestly I’ve yet to dive deeper than confirming it works since there’s still so much I need to cover in Vanilla heh But, MCGO seems like the perfect glitch for just getting _loads_ of modded items. Start towards the end, and just MCGO for as long as you’d like (refreshing fuel) to just keep getting items. Since, it doesn’t matter if you don’t know where anything is, if everything drops anyways lol
I’ve found a consistent way to find mod IDs in correlation to door IDs. Simply use recipe browser, then expand the recipe browser to be 18 items long. From there, find the item you’re currently on and work from there, moving 2 rows every time. This should work with every modded item in any modpack, but the order isn’t going to be the same every time, so always use it carefully
ShareX! I use it to take screenshots, and record MP4's on-screen as well. Has auto copy-to-clipboard and auto-uplaod to. Super handy bit of kit, just takes some setup.
Hey, you might remember me, but I figured out the setup for multiplayer only and I accidentally made a stable bast in only multiplayer. Basically, you transmute a door into banners, then break it, causing the bast head to split and have the "bee."

I have no idea how you’re channel hasn’t blown up, I subbed the instant I heard about the glitch. I really hope that this stays in the game, it is just so interesting and powerful I never want it to go away. Thanks for the simple guides, when I found this glitch I had to piece it together from the sheet and speed-running guide. I can’t wait for a vid on black hole (I tried to figure it out myself and ended up with many broken statues and dreams).
Thanks a bunch^^! Proper documentation is long overdue, so it's nice to finally have everything in one place.
The Black Hole Glitch really does deserve its own video both due to what it can due for transmuting items, and the other strange things it can do.
As a bit of a spoiler, you can make black holes out of _more than just doors_. That's one of the main reasons it's getting its own content piece.
The sheer complexity of this we feel makes it worthy of being considered a mainstay feature like liquid duplication and hoiking.
great video! really loving the transmutation glitch, can't wait to see what this 'black hole' glitch is all about, too...
i remember discovering a glitch to duplicate objects while playing in the mobile version in multiplayer with another person. That it wasn´t pure randomnes and there where some kind of steps to follow to get it always gived me curiosity.
Now that i can see this video and can comprend better how a multiplayer server works now i can make me an idea of what was happening and it´s kind of awesome.
The magic behind the glitches is incredible and i think it´s pretty cool that you have made this video to explain the transmutation. Pretty good work buddy
How were you able to do it on mobile?
This was so well put together, the graphic was so helpful in illustrating how it works. Amazing job!
Thanks a ton! Glad the graphics helped- They were one of the most difficult parts of the video, so happy to know the effort was worth it!
I’m probably never going to use this since I don’t play terraria much anymore, but this could be my favourite terraria video ever.

I really hope that if/when Relogic fixes this they go into detail about how they fixed this glitch. I feel like the process of fixing something as complex as this would be just as interesting as the glitch itself.
Assuming of course, that this can even *be* fixed without irreversibly changing the game's code, like how hoiks would be fixed.
It is probably just a matter of bounds checking the x and y for certain items like doors
Excellent guide! Glad you included some important stuff that wasn't already in a video such as the stabilized bast statue. It'll be much easier to refer to this video than combing through a bunch of shorter ones.

sad im no longer up to date on terraria stuff, but coming back to the game and seeing things like this is really heartwarming. absolutely unhinged, horrendously insane/inconceivably random steps that make absolutely no sense, but end up literally changing the code of the game, while playing the game. we've come a long way from dirt in a piggy bank, super glad to see people are still putting this much love and effort into finding cool things in the game. this video was an absolute masterpiece as well, hearing the first explanation hurt my brain, but after watching such an in depth tutorial i feel like i could make this in my sleep, and write a college essay on what it does/how it works. keep up the amazing work ethyriel :)

I haven't been super in the loop with Terraria lately and thought transmutation was simply referring to the shimmer stuff... This is definitely a little bit crazier
I'm going to be using this only once while I still can just to get certain otherwise unobtainable items.
Minecraft creative mode: "Look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power"
This breaks the law of equivalent exchange.
the law of equivalent exchange is merely a suggestion of equivalent exchange
Absolutely fascinating. It blows my mind that things like this get discovered in older games.
That's fascinating! I've heard a few reports now of people on Console versions (such as mobile) having glitches where items turn into mobs. Weird.

That would be a crazy addition, and quite a fun one at that.
though, I haven't seen much direct acknowledgment from the Devs other than saying it'll be fixed
maybe I need to break the game harder lol

Any way around this?
i just did it on console
It works on console, but only if you join someone else's world- i.e., you're a client to their server.
The host on console is _actually_ the server, hence why de-sync don't work- just as you observed.
I kind of get what you’re saying, but don’t truly understand a lot of it. But that deficiency is solely on my end. The video was interesting and entertaining enough that my son and I kept watching until the end. (He understood it better.)
I really loved this glitch man. As soon as i learned it hardcore, i immediately know how it works (kinda forget on the step by step creation tho). This really gives us 🔥 power and a power of immortality! (Of course, by getting post-Moonlord gears and any items like Rod of Harmony or the Zenith).
Genuine question. Does this mod work on a modded world? If so, does the item array include modded items? Could I perform this glitch in Calamity and obtain any Calamity item? Or would I only be able to access Vanilla items with this glitch? How do mods like calamity store item info?
Absolutely incredible stuff. Do you know how this would work for modded items? I’m interested in trying it for a calamity speedrun
Honestly I’ve yet to dive deeper than confirming it works since there’s still so much I need to cover in Vanilla heh
But, MCGO seems like the perfect glitch for just getting _loads_ of modded items.
@@codenamec.a.t2480 Saving this and definitely going to give it a try down the road- Cheers and thanks for info^^!
