A perfect example for the V12 would be the Lamborghini F1 engine with the white McLaren body

Those legends in the V12 days not only had to drive the car but had to row gears the whole race
Yeah taking corners at 180mph using one hand to steer and the other to shift just trusting in the downforce of the car to make you stick 🎉. These guys were ice cold.

Honda’s engine once they started supplying Toro Rosso/Alpha Tauri and Red Bull arguably sounded the best too. The sound it made when the driver was off throttle was amazing
@@Aryan-eu2jp proxima is correct that the exhaust regs changed back and forth so there’s a difference between 2021 and 2022.
And while todays cars have more power, they are far too heavy. And weight is more important for everything. The V10s had superior power to weight ratios.
The 2014 engine were laughable, you could hear the crowd over them.
The thing is, as a fan of physics, I love the sound of the V6 hybrid. I know it's not the wailing scream near 20,000 RPM that everyone loves without question, but noise is a loss of energy from the fuel.
The fact that the V6 cars are getting >50% energy efficiency from the fuel is astounding as it is, as even the most efficient road car at the moment is only getting something like 15 to 20% of petrol's energy. It's like the Audi diesel LMP1 cars, they were deathly silent because the engines were so finely crafted and tuned they got nearly all of the energy from the diesel, and the air moving over the body of the car was louder than the exhaust down the Mulsanne.
Don't get me wrong, I grew up watching F1 starting in the late 80's, so I got to hear the turbo beasts, the V12, V10, AND V8 (blown diffuser = omfg sexy) eras, but the new cars are just so efficient! It's also why they can go a full race distance without refueling on just 110 kg of fuel, as they are so finely tuned to extract maximum potential energy from the race fuel, which is only around 105 to 110 octane and partially synthetic.

The V12 monsters were just insane. All driver skill, no help, barely any safety. Just monsters. Sounds so dang good too. The v10s sound so effing good too but the 80's v12s were just violent monsters.
Also, I can't take the v6's seriously. They are fast and efficient so I can appreciate, but the v8's still sounded f1-ish and were loud and rowdy. The v6's just sound so tame and dainty, the theater and excitement of a race car is just gone. It's not a big, monstrous heart of the beast that needs to be tamed.... It's a soft, affeminate soi boy just complaining about the environment of which he knows nothing about, just repeating headlines and propaganda. Sad.

I know I’m in the minority, but I always loved the V12s. those late 80s/early 90s V12s had a special sound to them. Especially the Honda V12s. Such an iconic and unmistakeable sound

This might be a common preference for older fans. I was born in '98 and followed F1 by '12, but I might have vicarious nostalgia because V12's are usually my fav.
I remember sitting down with my great grandad, my grandad and my dad every week and watching these cars race, the memories connected to the sound of these engines stop me in my tracks everytime I hear them❤
