Brilliant video. I had no idea the bezier curves would connect automatically like that, nor you could still click points without the mask being turned on. More stuff like this please.
I don't care how many of these I watch - it's never enough. You are brilliant at style and messaging. I went through the Fusion Survival Guide - IT IS GREAT. Highly recommend it to anyone getting going in Fusion.
Hi Casey, i've been freaking on all of your tutorials this week. Probably studied like 12 hours a day. i've learned so much in this short period of time. I already mastered the color page in the last year. But now knowing fusion is just so nice. I just want to thank you for all of your content, I think I speak for a lot of people. Thanks man!
Great tutorial. Just got Davinci for iPad. Used to use FCP on my MAC but now just sticking with iPad. Steep learning curve and your vids are really helping, especially as Davinci is now stable. I’m finding your tutorials the clearest and wittiest so thank you.
Casey, I absolutely love the way you teach. The way you teach, makes things just click in my head. You explain everything in a way that makes sense to beginners or less experienced with Fusion and easily digestible. I subscribed after watching just a couple videos. Keep up the awesome work.
When drawing bezier curves to trace an object, it can be beneficial to adjust the transparency of the layer you are tracing. It really helps you to see the curves in areas of shadow and for matching outlines
Same thing with the pen tool in Photoshop & Illustrator. So glad you covered this. Once I "mastered" the pen tool my life changed to be exponentially better 😅. Thanks for another awesome vid!
Super helpful especially right now... I premiere that much but being able to just draw masks easily is something I miss. Wish this could be done on the edit page of Dacvinci somehow...
I know the pen tool for Illustrator. When masking in Resolve I try and do the same functions and shortcuts to adjust curves but the buttons are different so this was helpful.
Great! How about a moving mask using a tracker? Can you use a tracker to track an object and then use a mask as the input to produce tracked mask for a moving object/person?
Would love to see more on animating masks. I have issues between large frame jumps and the mask moving slowly from one point to another instead of directly to.
I have been brute forcing it lol😅😢. How about masking and tracking a camera panning across something very large that has lots of new angels coming on the screen as you go through the timeline. Example panning across a space station and wanting to apply mask to that.
So dumb question… After your done with the “game boy” fusion clip, do you just go back into your video per say and insert it where you need it? Hope that makes sense.
You are so good at teaching, and you make learning from you so fun. You are so crazy in a cool way. 😂 I got to come up with some money to buy your fusion course, that is, if you make your paid courses fun, too. Well, do you make learning fun in your paid courses, too😂
Thanks for your vide, Casey. I have a question. I'd like to know how to make scrolling effect of a phone screen, or of a website showcase, or even scrolling down a document file, let's say it's a PDF file and you want scroll down through the pages. It'd appreciated if you could give me link for such tutorial, or maybe make one yourself.(I tried to find but I couldn't find this one among your videos) with regards. 🙏
Yes, this is a good video! So in over photo editing software you can do a colour select, adjust the threshold of the targeted colour etc. Can this be done in resolve?
From about 1:20 I can not add points. The cursior make yellow lines in stead. And I have followed the steps word by word. Is this due to my version is Studio? In Studio I just make blue line(s) within what I want to mask out, very easy, so what is going on here?
This was good to explain masks and how to use them. But, do this in an image editing program and save it off with an alpha channel if it's just a still image. PNG probably. You can still add another mask later if you wanted to put something on the screen for instance. And Bezier curves. You will fuck up a lot at first. Try not to get frustrated. You WILL get a handle on it eventually. (Pun intended.) [Video editing enthusiast and semi-pro. Image editing professional.] Keep up the great work!
id be curious if/how using the technique changes when dealing with more complex shapes. ive been playing around with rotoing recently and ngl i dont see opportunities to simplify the mask with a few curves
It all depends on the level of accuracy you seek. Bezier curves (click and drag) make smoother more accurate curves, and they are more easily adjustable than multiple points. Zooming in for small curved areas makes it easier. TIP: When adjusting a point, holding the shift key will confine the movement either vertically or horizontally.
This video is DANGEROUS.
I might actually start believing that I can do this stuff.

It's on my "To Watch" list! Gotta bump it up! Casey's style is great, you don't get tired after HOURS of tutorials.
More basics pls…

Yes, thanks for the basics! It is the detail in the basics that always stops your workflow and causes you to research and fix. Appreciate your tips!

Relatable analogy there Casey. I too, haven't 15 Lamborghinis.

I wanna know more about animating and rotoscoping!
Just change frames and positions of the points. Thats it.
The line read on "That's why I don't have 15 lamborghinis" got me.
When this started I was sure I knew it all, but once again, I did not! Thanks a bunch!
It was HELPFUL THANK YOOU! definitely needed it!

Great tutorial, Casey! Your explanation made it easy to understand.
Yess more basics! 😂. Knowing a basic understanding of all/most of the fusion tools would so helpful
Thanks Casey for this tip. Greetings from the Netherlands. Ron.
Yes, more basics and more funny, awkward endings! 😁
Good tutorial. Kept on point throughout 😂. Thanks.
I want more videos like this from you Caseyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!
Very clear and amazing instructions!
Thanks Casey! Another awesome video!!!
I like it a lot Casey, thanks.
Casey again... is a baller.
Struggling with these curves since my beginning to learn PS... ok, I´ll give it a try, I promise!

Thanks Caesy - less is more!

Tutorial on making crazy transitions with fusion, in future maybe? please🙏😄
Maybe you have to use polygon masks to get some Lamborghini ? just kidding! Great workshop video! I love it and leave a subscription. Thanks!
Great info
thank you so much
Great Thanks , you went to the pen tool academy , i knew it 😂
It would be nice to go through all the symbols above to see what their function is. thx 4 the vid.
nice stufff
Thank you!!
Me to Casey. I don't have 15 Lamborghini's because that would be so much work to maintain all of them.
Try a moving target next time Casey 😁

great, now lets do tracking!

Courses are super fun. We have a new one dropping this week, stay tuned!
@CaseyFaris if you can say, what is the topic, what will you discuss, and will you give a notification on your TH-cam channel or website?

how to zoom in and out to check details or to mask?
Bruh… thank u 🥲

Please tell me why Fusion tab only used for a images not for a video?

how to fix all these points? after all frames all points....they move out always... and I do the masking again and again
Next video from Casey "How to open Davinci Resolve use icon on your desktop"

Magic mask has left the chat
🤯
"Thats why I don't have 15 Lamborghini's", So you have 5?....
Who do you think you are kidding?
We know for a fact that you have 15 Lamborghinis
Yep, that’s also why i don’t have 15 lambos 3:04
Do you have an online course I can buy sir?
Not a free one but one that is paid for?
@@tntramzy12 🤔 Er ... Re-read the last 4 words of his question. 😂
@@geoffos42bruh... Both comments are from the same guy!! 😂
@@Krish-10 Oh, yeah. That makes two idiots - him and me! 😂🤣 Perhaps he hasn't heard of the edit button?
Coming out with an AWESOME one soon at groundcontrol.film
That's why you only have 14 Lamborghini's.
Same reason I don't have 15 lambo's
That's why you have 0 Lamborghini
Kinda like pen tool in Photoshop
Just use Magic mask if you don't want to waste your life.
Fusion has very bad tools for curves edit. The worse ones are only in Davinci Edit page 😅
