- You wonder how the game engine / physics and the dupes interact with a hole in the neutronium. Here are a few first tests.
Hey Guys this is the LumaRaw Channel where i post relatively unedited stuff i want to share with you that doesn't necessarily belong on the @Luma_ (Luma plays channel).

Summary so far:
Horizontal:
1. Can Dupes go through? NO
2. Can Sweepies go through? NO
3. Can Critter go/fly through? NO
4. Can you build through? NO
5. Can Radiation go through? NO
6. Can Light go through? YES
7. Can Decor go through? YES
8. Can radbolts go through? Obviously YES
9. Can gas go through?
a in space NO the border acts as space. gas will vanish
b with background tiles: YES gas can go through
c with background tiles: NO if you tried to fill some liquid in the hole, then the border acts as border inside
10. Can liquid go through?
a in space NO the border acts as space. liquid will vanish
b with background tiles the border acts as border. liquid stop inside
11. Can debris go through? YES yes autosweeper can reach, you can push it 1 tile with doors. you can shoot it through by hitting it with a meteor.
12. Can meteorites go through? YES probably with the correct angle (not tested)
13. Do transit tubes spit dupes to the other planet or connect? NO
14. Can you build anything in the border? NO no bridges etc. the farthest you get is the joint plates
15. Do any kinds of door compressors work? NO liquid, gas, dupe, critter YES debris
16. Can dupes build or dig through? NO
17. Can Dupes Chitchat? YES
18. Is room size shared across planets YES
19. Can Buildings with the respective range grab through the other side? YES autosweepers, robominers NO deodorizers, ice-e-fans, gantry
20. Can a landing payload go through? I wouldn’t know how to test that
21. Can falling Sand go through the horizontal hole? no clue how to test that
22. Is there a thermal connection between the planets? not sure. You can place down ice-e-fans (large tempshiftplates) or tempshift plates but those have the temperature they are build at when the game is paused and minus 273°C when the game runs
Vertical:
1. Can Dupes fall through vertical holes? YES NO (the dupe will be teleported to the center of that planet, they will not cross the border. Their corpse will!)
2. Can Sweepies go through? NO Sweepies don’t fall
3. Can Critter fall/fly through? NO falling critters get stuck in the air when falling vertically in the hole)
4. Can you build through? NO
5. Can Radiation go through? NO
6. Can Light go through? YES
7. Can Decor go through? YES
8. Can radbolts go through? Obviously YES
9. Can gas go through? NO there is always space if you drill form a higher up planet down
10. Can liquid go through?
a dropped next to the hole NO the border acts as border
b dropped as drops inside the hole NO the border acts as space
11. Can debris go through? NO it will sit on the border. (autosweeper can’t reach it cause of the range and build limitation)
12. Can meteorites go through? YES with the correct angle
13. Do transit tubes spit dupes to the other planet or connect? NO
14. Can you build anything in the border? NO no bridges etc. the farthest you get is the joint plates
15. Do any kinds of door compressors work? NO liquid, gas, dupe, critter (they will get stuck in the falling animation) YES debris
16. Can dupes build or dig through? NO
17. Can Dupes Chitchat? NO the dupe on the top planet would get teleported to the middle of that planet
18. Is room size shared across planets YES but it will not help you for everything but critter ranches since you will have a shared space area
19. Can Buildings with the respective range grab through the other side? YES robominers NO autosweepers, deodorizers, ice-e-fans, gantry range too small
20. Can a landing payload go through? NO (it falls forever but can be moved with dev move command)
21. Can falling Sand go through the vertical hole? NO (it falls forever and CANNOT be removed)
22. Is there a thermal connection between the planets? not sure. You can place down ice-e-fans (large tempshiftplates) or tempshift plates but those have the temperature they are build at when the game is paused and minus 273°C when the game runs

First build a giant laser array using millions of radbolts to drill through the neutronium, then devise a horizontal chute traversing the entire map through which you send an unwitting dupe plummeting for 50 cycles. Now you can find the centre of the map, congratulations!
I wonder if anybody at Klei knows as much about the game's physics and glitches as Luma and a few other inquisitive souls :)
They hide the good stuff :D
that one dupe: *I HAVE BEEN FALLING! FOR OVER 50 CYCLES!*
We all get that reference hahaha
Seams like the only practical uses would be to transfer material with an autosweeper, to make extra large rooms for critter ranching and possibly to transfer the gasses from a vent to a different planetoids
The fact that dupes can chat, makes me happy. Dupes are always close to eachother 😊
Yeah it is somehow really cute.
THERE NEXT TO EACH OTHER NO ONE TOLD ME THE PLANITODS ARE NEXT TO EACH OTHER
thank you for testing and documenting this. i imagine this might result in some really cool builds.
Hopefully :D. I think you can make a super compact rooms on 1 side and some weirdly shaped room on the other side of the neutronium wall.
Them putting all the asteroids next to each other is actually really smart from an optimization point of view
Damn!
They did grow up playing minecraft
How?
@@AyCe No having to load unload all the data as soon as you switch asteroids and no loading times
Downside:
Everything is simulated, *at once*. Which means performance jumps off a cliff
@@nemtudom5074 Well... You have to simulate everything at once, that's the whole point, though (they actually only start simulating things once you discover them). You could still have different simulations all running at the same time, no need to unload anything. No need for them to be on the same map. That would even be better for multithreading (lol Unity), which they currently can't really do. This is not an optimization, it's just laziness/lack of knowledge by Klei devs how to handle different simulations and causes glitches like these. This one might be funny, but there are tons of bug reports that come from the fact that they don't properly separate planetoids. As a game dev I was just wondering if there are any good arguments for doing things that way, but none of that convinces me.
they could have kept every planetoid on a different thread, this way they cant
Slightly related, FYI;
whether neutronium in tact or not, you can send up natural tile pillars by repeated baking of algea or aero-gel pipe draining and use the material as medium to teleport liquids through from underneath with door pump glitch. (Sadly I think water planet never generates with area above? But you could pump magma into it.. hmm)
Since I've not seen info on it, for posterity/anyone interested;
pipe undraining "aerogel" creation seems to stack up infinitely if you change the liquid used at the same spot (I was using sucrose and aluminum, likely unimportant?), like Luma's algea-baking conveyor. I presume any liquid/solids should work, so it may be a lower tech alternative assuming molten aluminum isn't required 🤔
So there is a way to keep an aquatuner at absolute zero even when in 100 000°K super coolant vapor.
I should have learned this sooner
I have a feeling that Klei will address this in the next patch...
They might. But it is not a "problem" that many people face in a normal game.
Not even if you try hard. You will need to dedicate yourself to breaking the walls.
So I personally don't see that it is a high priority for them to fix.
@@lumaraw it should be a relatively easy fix of just changing neutronium weight to 999999 or something, making it practically unbreakable in any reasonable time.
@@Makrangoncias Yes iam not arguing that it is hard to do. Just that they don't have a reason to. The only reason for them would be to reduce the single player experience of a few individuals while adding nothing for the rest.
There's no point to fixing it though. Nobody does this by accident. One thing I love about this game is that most of the community has the attitude of "if you don't want to use exploits, cool. If you do, also cool!". It's a single player game so the only person you are affecting is yourself.
you can use debug mode to spawn in a poi which destroys the neutronium aswell
Thanks for remembering me :D I forgot already.
Does the space in between behave the same way it does when you destroy it via radbolts?
@@lumaraw you can also just copy/paste vacuum. And as far as all we tested, yes, it's the same as breaking it with bolts.
@@kutairaisu4603 Nice
AWWWWWWWWWWWW YEAHHHHH TALKING ABOUT HOLES
I knew this would catch someone :D
Are your spaceship interiors also somewhere on this map? Could you reach them like this?
They should be somewhere on the map. Normally in the far right. You can also drill through the spacefarermodule from the i side.
Haven't tried the outside yet but from what ww learned that should work as well.
Holey Moley
This makes me remember the bug of liquid freezing inside the mesh tile.I think it's a feature because Only gases and liquids are blocked
If gases can move across asteroids, then heat can too. You seemed to have used tempshift plate in a vacuum for some of your tests. gas and liquid can work, but the plates can't reach eachother from 2 blocks away. Still, gas might transfer the heat
Mhnmnnmhm I wonder if you can put an aqua tuner there that have it’s temperature locked to 0 kelvin
This shit is so trippy
Would research reactor spam be a feasible way of doing this in survival? Or do you have to get crafty and create natural tiles from refined uranium?
Hey James. You can use Kutai's Radbolt Regen. We developed that in the discord. I described it at the end of this video i think. th-cam.com/video/6R7aKrWJJUg/w-d-xo.html
And to answer you question. I am not sure. you need 40000 Radbolts with a power of 500. Not sure how fast those reactors can produce that amount.
Edit: i checked again, it was the end of thid video: th-cam.com/video/Yxc2mgYWa2I/w-d-xo.html
just follow the time stamp
You could use nuclear waste in an infinite storage setup maybe? Not sure if it would take to long to build up though
I once got heat transfer between 2 planet but through neutronium not through the hole.
Ummm.. Sorry for the innocence.. Umm.. How do I get out of Cinematic Mode? I haven't tried it yet, too scared.. Hehe
No issue :D.
It is either alt + s
or ctrg + s
just press it again and you will get out of that mode.
You can also check the settings for you key controlls and see what else is there.
if ur using dev mode then just break it ?
You can delete anything that is not in the borders.
Sometimes you can even copy empty space to some parts of the the borders. but the obly thing thst works anywhere is radbolts (for now)
the csnnon has already been patched
Nice video, btw can you reply my comment in the old food storage video? I have some troubles and need your help.
Oh sure i might have missed that. Let me check it out.
