It would make sense if it could cook into barbecue. Even if it didn't gain calories, it's a plant you can't use until mid/late game and by then you aren't settling for -1 morale.
Here's my idea for some recipes for plant meat. Firstly is 'planty pate'. For 2000 cal of plant meat, you can make 2400 cal of plant pate. It has a quality of 2 and is made in the microbe musher. Next is the Berry pate. By using 2000 kcals of grizzle and 2400kcals of plant pate, you can make 5400 kcals of Berry pate, which has a quality of 4 and is made in the eletric grill. And finally we have the vegan(ish) feast! By using 5400 kcals of Berry pate and 6400kcals of Mushroom Quiche you can make 14000 kcals of vegan(ish) feast. It has a quality of 6 and is made in the gas range, it also has a buff called 'mineralised' description:so many plant foods put into one has given the dupe a mineral overload! Effects: +4 athletics, +5 strength and +5% xp gains
4:23 There is possibility to lower chance that plant will eat pip - I place Beeta Hive first, before planting Saturns, and start planting when beetinys already in place - in this case is possibla that Saturn will eat beetiny instead. But still this is random.
Hydrogen is pretty nice, this is literally free energy. Also sometimes you just wanna do something not because its super useful but because you want to 😁.
If there is too much gas pressure, morbs shouldn't often do anything? I guess you can have some air tiles that hydrogen can push the polluted oxygen through and pump it out when it is only filled with polluted oxygen with both gas and pressure sensors? Or use 3 mechanized doors, to close the dropped down polluted oxygen from the hydrogen(and open the middle door to control the upper hydrogen chamber temperature), freeze the polluted oxygen into pure oxygen, pump it out, and release any mistaken hydrogen over time while it fills up again. With this, you might want the morbs to make polluted oxygen. Can be used to cool a base?
I found out that critter-trap hydrogen farms can be modified to refine uranium as well (beetinies that grow up feed uranium dropped from a chute to the hive) although it does need more maintenance...
wild planting but it was a nightmare to do.... so many pips died from it...and even worse i ve forgot to ship the nuclear waste asap therefore "natural tile made itself and some wild plant were lost in the process and for a wild farm it is a tragedy....
You can see they do turn into regular bees in the video, but this isn't an issue, because they only live 5 cycles, so you get steady supply of new beetinys regardless.
Considering your dupes harvest the meat in the firsr day possible, I presume 120 plants if wild or 30 if domesticated, since the beehive generated 1 betine per day
One very important question. I encounter something I suppose is bug - when I planted Saturn in harsh conditions, it not grow, but no matter how harsh conditions were, it refuses to die! (and dropseed) I tried to drown it, and heat it above 1000 degrees. Someone have simmilar problem? (Why I tried to do this? Simple - Seed duplication 😉)
It's not about the food, it's about the hydrogen. A wild farm should be massively power-positive even accounting for the cooling (which will refund a good bit of the energy anyway, especially if you use super coolant). Or you might need the hydrogen for rocket fuel. 2 plants provide roughly as much hydrogen as an Electrolyzer (maybe 3 accounting for downtime), and you can only get so much water per cycle on any given asteroid. If I ever get around to setting one of these up, I'll probably just let the meat rot to produce some extra dirt.
....HMMMM.......THERE WAS AN UPDATE ABOUT PIPS CAN PLANT SEEDS WHILE IN VACUUM..........SO LIKE MAKE NATURAL ICE TILES, THEN REMOVE ALL ATHMOSPHERE, THEN MAKE PIP DO IT'S WORK AND THEN RELEASE THE ATHMOSPHERE .............BY THE WAY, THANKS FOR CREATIVE WAY OF USING CROWN MOLDINGS, HEHEHEHR
Finally a use for the plug slug variants.
SAVAGE
you can use the smog ones to pump out the hydrogen lol
The Plant-Meat not to used for Recipe is missed opportunity 😅

Probably devs give us something in near future.
Having no recipes seals this as a second class plant for me. But it does make a nice bit of free hydrogen for being an evolution chamber.
I am sure that the devs will give some similar to the leafy meat from Don't Starve Together

A thermo regulator makes so little heat that you can just passively cool the steam generator using the liquid output of the generator

Those poor pips!
The only good use for the Plant-Meat is the Resin Tree
12k kcal is a lot for just 1 drop.
Quality is terrible, but more kcal compensates for it.
Also Sage Hatches
4:42 You can also use Morbs, spawned from enabled and disabled outhouse every two days, but you need to do something with polluted oxygen.

@@Nor1MAL Indeed if pressire is above 1kg Morbs dont emit POx.
How do you get the morbs into the trap farm? Seems like they'd have to be moved manually.
Your dupes won't get stung wearing Lead suits.
So, you cap put your traps close to your reactor and eleviate this problem.

Indeed, wild planting these is a bit of a nightmare!
How many plants would you need to keep eating the tiny bees and not let them grow into regular bees?
Or they won't walk that far away either way?

...THIS IS UNIQUE FEATURE OF IT, THO
.....LIKE IT HAS TO BE MANUALLY HARVESTED
to bad they don't drop seeds otherwise you could Mutate them with juicy fruit
I refuse to let pips being eaten
give cuddelpips then :)
It's a shame, this seems like such a cool idea, but the food it produces is so useless, that it doesn't matter.
