We went to Cambridge, MA for a workout with the Harvard women. The Crimson are No. 22 and Courtney Smith is No. 11 in the Saucony Flo50. bit.ly/2e7Wq82 Presented by Advocare
This video has really good filming, editing, and close up shots. I loved the music too and the action shots were amazing! It's a really impressive video!
This coach is fantastic. He reminds me of my high school cross country coach. That coach taught me much about running and life, and I still think about things she’s told me to do when I run now, 5 years later. I have done a lot of sports that are all very different, but none of them have coaches quite like cross country coaches
I've never seen a college program with... required calisthenics. I mean... they're not a bad idea but my coach (and many others I've seen) took a much more "laid off" approach toward that type of stuff. We determine our own warmup routine. We get to the workout meetup on time by ourselves. We decide how far to run before or after a workout. We decide whether to stretch or not after a run (I mean... you definitely should) and how long to stretch. We decide if that stretching includes core. It actually worked out really well, and we were extremely competitive against D1 schools much larger than us in XC (kinda hard to do the same in track... even if you win the events if the other team gets 2 and 3 you still lose... which was very often our case.) If you WANTED more direction, you could certainly ask and he would provide, but most of us were extremely happy with the freedom provided to us. I mean, it's not like we could lie about how much we ran on non-workout days. He'd find out eventually by how well (or rather, badly) you were running. Probably the best coach I ever had. Got me into the best shape of my life and I don't even remember trying that hard in the workouts. (We had times to hit, and were often told to "try to hit the times exactly." We were really ever only given leeway on the final set of 30 30s (30 second 200s with 30 seconds of rest... often a set of 6, and often multiple sets with a larger break in between.) These often boiled down to a full out sprint toward the end of the workout, which was fine because at that point a full out sprint was only 2-3 or so seconds faster. (We were tired after a hard workout full of much longer repeats.... miles... 1200s, 1ks, etc.)
They amazing smart to have made it into Harvard and mange a full time sport on top of that workload. Just amazing. Here I am struggling with classes at uni and trying to stay in shape 🥵
I used to do cross country in high school but I had to quit due to injuries, and now I constantly watch these college cross country workout videos in jealousy. 😔
Judy Pendergast is now a junior in Harvard and it doesn’t seem like she has improved that much. In the most recent NCAA champs she came in 251/252 so before last.
I dunno anything about no Tempo runs, 1500m run, or anything like that. All i know is one thing from watching this video and that is to RUN. How long? I dunno just run. How fast? I dunno just run. JUST RUN
so much love to you, no matter who you are. no matter who. honestly. give your whole heart to Christ- i say this out of pure love, not correction or hate. it changed my life and hopefully will change yours. love you friend!
Nils Petras yes. And guys don’t workout in hot pants and sports tops so the logic isn’t supporting the heat thing. It’s simply a silly thing just like women’s attire in tennis is a short skirt while the men wear knee length shorts.
Again , same coach with the same mentality as every other coach in America . Same playbook . Same repetition, shit I’m falling asleep . Get back to me when they complete their studies and tell me who of these girls win a a medal at Olympics or worlds .
by now all these girls would have graduated, so you were right none of them have turned pro or gone to the big leagues, but hey at least they have their degrees from Harvard.
This is wonderful recruiting material. Sample work-out, objectives, explanations, annotation, and commentary. This shows the coaches craft.
"material"? I hope you mean the video, not the runners...

Such an amazing and understanding coach.
This guy is so respectful and considerate... Alberto Salazar from Nike should take notes

Wow that pace is extremely fast. I would love a coach like this. I definitely think it would help me a lot
Coach? More like father... dudes the man
I should be the coach, I could do a better job than him. I'll slap their asses for motivation and they can all call me papa.
@@reecem367 wtf is wrong with you?
@@amiterez1356Come on man, I was just kidding around.
Incognit05 jesus loves you!
@Kevin Zhou you obviously weren’t otherwise u wouldn’t of said it, and that comment was discussing.
lovely realistic coach
00:30 J Pizz sighting, which may be why TH-cam put this on my homepage. Those smartys must have linked Harvard and Oregon via J Pizz,

Love the music. Great coach as well.
Judy now at Oregon...
Their mile pace is my km pace. So sad for me 😂😭

JUDYYYYYYYYY
And she transferred....
iRosati why ?
Natai KO From what i can gather, the transfer was due to the Patrick Wales Dinan scenario/changing of coaches.
iRosati so stupid. who cares about running 20 years from now?😂its all about your degree. you cant compare harvard to oregon
...actually, we're all going to die one day, so what college one went to really isn't going to matter.
because money
I want this coach
Get Professor Gompers involved. He was an All American is his time
J-piz before the transfer. Woot woot. I'm such a weirdo.
J Pizz in the house!
Is this at Chestnut hill?
I think it's the Brookline reservoir on route 9, not the CH reservoir near BC.
But I can't tell for sure. I've run around and fished in both. Too many years ago.
that coach man can he coach me 😮. he looks like a great coach.
My queen jpizz
aye there's Brooke Starn

I'm about to this soon!😓
why did Judy Pendergast leave to Oregon??
I'm wondering the same thing!
Oregon has a far superior running program even though it's not close in academics
She left Harvard to go to oregon
did Judy transfer ?
Aaliyah Davis yes to oregon
she transfered back though
good
Judy? Isn’t she now at Oregon
Sharon Chai I was thinking the same thing?
Hahaha I realized that too
she transferred
Wow good coach considering psych factors
Why did Judy Pendergast transfer to Oregon in her 2nd year, and then back to Harvard again a year later?
Wait isn’t that @emmaabrahamsons friend¿
yes!!!!!
JUDY
So awesome
am I the only one who thinks they don’t look like college students?
nothing idk people forget what college students are actually supposed to look like
JAY PIZZZZ
*Relax Courtney*
Why do girls always have a male coach?
And why is it common to have a coach-runner relation.
so much love to you, no matter who you are. no matter who. honestly. give your whole heart to Christ- i say this out of pure love, not correction or hate. it changed my life and hopefully will change yours. love you friend!
haha look at those girls form. no wonder they can only un 5:14 1500 thresholds
.courtney is smoking hot
She's fucking twiggy, and young
J PIZZZZZ
The legs on Courtney...

vardanb so what?
jealousy?
If anyone wants to put their money where their mouth is , I will personally make their worst runner better than their best .
what are you even saying
Who da fuk are you?
Like anyone would want you to coach for them
What’s the deal with barely any clothes? It’s school not Ibiza holiday.
did you ever run in high temperatures?
Nils Petras yes. And guys don’t workout in hot pants and sports tops so the logic isn’t supporting the heat thing. It’s simply a silly thing just like women’s attire in tennis is a short skirt while the men wear knee length shorts.
@@soilgrasswaterair indeed, guys work out in shorts that are actually short (like underwear) and topless. Just watch other videos on this playlist :D
Cause wearing too many clothes can actually slow you down a lot
What's wrong with what they're wearing? It's hot and they're running.
