Man my coach be saying something like that to but he be like “feel the trail.” , “be the streets.” Weird stuff that make you laugh 🤣And some other similar things like that.
One of the early proponents of the fartlek session, Emil Zatopek, used to hold his breath and challenge himself to see how far he could run before inhaling. Insanity.
@hednersgame911 I think it depends on body chemistry. When I ran track in high school and junior college the "vomiters" were usually athletes who already vomited in previous practices whereas I never had a workout that made me feel ill even though I was a 400/800/miler (a not very good one).
We usually have tap out Tuesday’s instead of workout Wednesday’s and the name comes from the workout being so hard you want to tap out and quit but Tuesday’s are literally the only days you are not allowed to quit xc. Like Tuesday’s are the only times I have cried while running
I really want to start running like tjis but im so unsure of myself. And i get really tired of running really fast. I actualla like running in a trainingcenter better or on a track field. (Sorry my english is bad)
Well you don’t automatically get that good and run fast, you have to progress there. Start off with a very short 1 mile run and go a pace that’s comfortable for you that you can maintain without stopping and build up your mileage from there.
Those skinny guys are still stronger than the women. What you think looks powerful is actually a higher body fat percentage of the women, not bigger muscles.
Women biologically hold more body fat. Men's testosterone lets them cut to very low body fat. Women just can't get under 10% due to hormones. These girls look healthier because they have more fat. The guys are ultra competitive and have cut as much fat as they can safely cut. Looks as some professional distance running women who are illegally using hormone blockers and they look more like the men.
This reminds me Of track and cross country only did it to stay fit and I always try and pus myself but dang it’s hard lol now I need to run again to lose weight
Quick question why did the men’s team look so skinny. I’m not making fun of their body’s but normally people who do this kinda do sport have really athletic body’s. Plz correct me if I’m wrong I’m genuinely wondering
"Whoops." Fartlek is speed-play, not intervals. Looks like a great breakdown of a workout ("This is FUN!"), but the surge (of a true fartlek) is missing -- that's a miracle 5 seconds or so.
This coach has some good philosophies but the fact that she doesn't want them to use their individual goals to push themselves during a practice seems kinda wrong to me 🤨
The amount of creepy comments about these women being "gorgeous thorough breds" or "eye candy" is so demeaning and shows just how misogynistic Mormon culture is
Not just Mormon culture, on all of the women's running workouts/races you will find comments like that. It's disgusting. People don't seem to understand that these ladies don't exist to be eye candy, they are hard core athletes who have value beyond what some online creeper thinks.
the intro had me rolling. Coach yelling "THIS IS FUN"
Man my coach be saying something like that to but he be like “feel the trail.” , “be the streets.” Weird stuff that make you laugh 🤣And some other similar things like that.
I love this coach
Or the classic, “This doesn’t hurt!”
ahaha that was hilarious
damn these women have such powerful strides and beautiful running form. they're crushing it!
and this is also on altitude!
Coach is legit crazy though...
If you have to yell "this is fun!!!" it ain't fun.
mansondevil33 ikr 😂
Reversing effects of fatigue and pain into releasing endorphins. This is fun is a trigger. You can actually do more than you fear. Practice hard
mansondevil33 exactly
@@marshal11ify I don't need such silly tricks. I was born as a monster.

cyoungrun1 that’s called thicc
Oh wow, just fyi you can be a man on the internet and not comment on the attractiveness of a woman on screen
cyoungrun1 Ok, but it’s because us Mid westerners know what we like to eat, and it’s not just plants and coffee.
cyoungrun1 dude stfu
Lmao 🤣 dude must be blind if he thinks those are thunder thighs. She's plenty fit. You don't have to be a top tier athlete to be considered fit.
wow she had a kid and still does cross coutry wow girl wow 👏👏👏👏👏👏. and still be the fastest thats awesome 👍
hell yes it shows being a mom is no excuse for not having discipline! I love her
They get married really young because that's the only way they can have sex. 😂
No matter how old I get the word fartlek still makes me chuckle. Sorry. Anyway good work ladies.
I like watching this kind of training videos while lying on the bed
The fartlek was made by a sadist who enjoys watching people suffer physically and you can't change my mind.
One of the early proponents of the fartlek session, Emil Zatopek, used to hold his breath and challenge himself to see how far he could run before inhaling. Insanity.
It's not supposed be easy.
@@YallahYah Well obviously. Knowing that doesn't make it suck any less though.
@@ellax325 but it suck less than the feel you get "not standing on the podium comes race day." 🤷🏼♂️🤪
welcome to d1 running
What determination and dedication these women have. They are all amazing. Love the coach.
I have mad respect for runners.
Throwing up: Coach hurry up keep moving!

2 years later and they're Cross country national champs!
No offense but this looks like pure hell
Training can be tough, but once you make it through, it is so rewarding in every way.
mm...not exactly..only goes for approx 15 minutes
at first i was like oh we got a teen mom situation here and then realized its BYU and shes like almost definitely married with a child
what does “oh we got a teen mom situation here” mean?
watching this video for over 10 min now and i feel highly motivated to.. stay in bed. :) i can see the painnnn.. but ill get up and get going anyway
Omg that looks a lot harder than what I do in high school XC
Great pack running and keeping the squad together!
*mormon guys have entered the chat*
Ran against BYU years ago, they were the bomb!
This is fun, This is fun! This is Fun! THIS IS FUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!
That's an amazing backdrop to that campus.
I competed at a national level in cross country and track and when you love running the desire to do it is all consuming .
Can we make this like a series
Quick question, is this is 2019 season or a 3 year old vid they like to release
I think it's actually from the current year for once.
Yeah she mentioned the 2020 Olympic trials
@@thig175 thanks, hope things arw going good at Emmanuel
nah I think this is an old workout video I remember watching this a few years ago
ReesyGoCrazy nope this was filmed in 2019. You may have seen a similar video a few years back tho
Love the coach , love the team , love BYU, love this vid!!!
nice, motivated runners. such similar looking body-types... is this a recruiting decision? the ncaa as a whole is more varied to my eye.
Michael Saint Grey BYU is a heavily Mormon university which is typically white.
And this is why I don’t run cross. I would. Die.
i'm getting second hand anxiety just watching this workout
We usually have tap out Tuesday’s instead of workout Wednesday’s and the name comes from the workout being so hard you want to tap out and quit but Tuesday’s are literally the only days you are not allowed to quit xc. Like Tuesday’s are the only times I have cried while running
Can you please give me the run down of a tap out Tuesday workout? I tried this one in the video and its tough. Im always looking for new workouts
they probably not even that hard
I love these workout videos, just a quick suggestion to at the end add a little update of how that team is doing during their season. Thank you
i wish she was my coach!!
zoe alana omg yes!!
This is the best one in the series
Shoes in grass are brutal.
Love BYU 💙🐾. Thanks!
Too run like this takes a passion and drive most people will never experience.
Great content!! Appreciate the new stuff!🤙
I’m sick right now and looking at these reps makes me want to puke
My heart and mind say, "let's run!" My torn achilles said, no!
"You can do anything for 2 minutes"
I really want to start running like tjis but im so unsure of myself. And i get really tired of running really fast. I actualla like running in a trainingcenter better or on a track field. (Sorry my english is bad)
Silje Vang you should try it!

Liam i really just need some tips for what to run
Iol It actually scared me when it came on, I was watching another video before this! Ended up watching it all though!
Wow, a top D1 who has a toddler!? That's incredible.
genuinely great video!
These women are thoroughbreds in every sense of the word.
sorry not in every sense no. more like beautiful running swans
HAHHAH the skinny ass men's team cracked me up after the powerful, elegant female specimens
Those skinny guys are still stronger than the women. What you think looks powerful is actually a higher body fat percentage of the women, not bigger muscles.
What man hurt you?

I would love to have a coach like her 😅
Got tired watching this. Great young women athletes!
How fast are they running when the are "on"? 5 mins on"
3:32 looks like Ned from the try guys in front

Hi Grace, I'm assuming they're distance runners...generally very skinny up top. Sprinters on the other hand have great physiques.
Mohamed Sinclair oh okk thank u for telling me😊💕
They run longer distances like 5k and 10k iirc
god damn she's a slave driver lol. but they clearly trust and respect her and they're all killing it.
BYU is a mormon university right?
What paces were they doing?
2 Olympians leading this
THIS IS FUN!!

Can you go to BYU even if you are not Mormon
Yeah

When they were talking about puke I could almost smell puke

If this is fun, then I'd hate to see what no fun is like with this coach.......YIKES
I'm sorry but some athletes can't cope with slower pace
he haaaaay do ya think the coach is loud enough anybody?
I can assure you that this isn’t fun

This coach has some good philosophies but the fact that she doesn't want them to use their individual goals to push themselves during a practice seems kinda wrong to me 🤨
I really question the value of having an athlete complete a workout after she's already puked.
Her name is FARTlek?!
locomojoboy2 strangely I saw this but the word is actually Swedish and translate to “speed play” like playing around with different speeds
