I love the idea of the Prince, in telling Farah the story of what happens throughout the game, has to keep explaining how he would hit her to get her to shoot him so he could zip twenty feet into the air
"And then, using the power of the Sands of Time, I had you fire an arrow at me so I could leap off of it in the air, and propel myself even higher!"

I love how this challenge ostensibly stems from playful spite. "oh, wall running too unrealistic for ya pops? I'll just be at it without wall runs" >cue physics defying feats.
The thing that makes this even funnier to me is that the prince is canonically narrating the story. When you die, he'll say things like "Hang on, I told that wrong; I didn't fall." So just imagine him being like "I reached a gap that was far too large to jump across. Now, since I have a phobia of wall-running, I took some damage, rocketed into the air, triple jumped across the gap, and walked through the wall to the other side."
Fantastic run, seriously. So much creativity and dedication here; I love it. It really is crazy to see how hard you can push a game to its limits. Big praise to you; you've earned a subscription for sure.

@@timehunter9467 That sounds about right. I haven't played that game in probably 15+ years, so I was mostly making up a sentence based off remembering how he'd say that he told it wrong.

This is the quintessential challenge run. Blending glitches and game mechanics in a way that feels like a new game, while still forced to strain resources and skill to their absolute limit, and finally managing to overcome even the game's own direct intervention itself to steal your equipment. 11/10, liked, subbed.

I like how the "presumed story concept" for this challenge is "wall-running is un-realistic" meanwhile rewinding time and mid-air double-jumping is fine lol
I just keep thinking about the fact that this game's story is that the Prince himself is telling the story to Farah as we're playing through the game. So I keep cracking up at the idea of the Prince being like, "Okay yeah, so I went up and jumped off this tree into a wall, used the Sands of Time a whole bunch, and that let me climb up another invisible tree. Then, I kept looking and twisting around this invisible tree like...I don't remember exactly how many times, maybe about 436 times or so, until the invisible tree itself magically moved across this huge gap to a cliff face on the other side."
And she'd be like, "How much hashish have you been smoking today?"
Man, that final level was so cool. It's like a stealth game, but the game itself is the enemy you're trying to avoid.
Yeah, it was super annoying having to reset the whole area over and over to isolate those cutscene triggers, but it was worth it.

Also the knowledge needed for every new game and finding people to help. So much goes into these that they'd be an insane waste of time if not earning money by streaming.

I use Zips to get around regularly in my daily life, so I can confirm this is 1,000 times more realistic then wall runs.
I even use double jumps and phantom ladders for going up. I've even used damaging boosting from time to time. Just don't hit people ask them to hit you for damage boosts.

Amazing! I love that you never take the easy road and only bring in the heavy duty skips and glitches like zips and frame rate manip when you literally can't do anything else.
When I subbed you had like 4k subs and the growth doesn't end. You're doing so great, just finished the Jak video so I'll be watching this over time as well, haven't missed any except Dark Souls 2 because I want to beat it first!

What's hilarious is that when I played this video to my BF on our way home, and playfully remarked how wall jumps are also unrealistic, he showed a video about using momentum and friction, and how not only can wall jumps be used RL, but even _vertical wall runs!_ XD OFC any basis in life with video games is exaggerated, but apparently a thing? Thanks for the great video and the learning I got as a result! I've loved Sands of Time when it first came out, especially the Prince's attitude ("wait, that's not how it happened, let me try again!")

the amount of perfect conveniences in this run is tremendous. just got 6 sand chambers? look at that, the next two areas need exactly 6 chambers to complete. cant make it up this timed wall jump puzzle? completely random bats spawned a bit earlier, use them for a damage boost. i love this video

Glad I'm not the only one who hates how unrealistic this game is. Wallrunning is just silly and impossible to do in real life, whereas floating in mid air on an invisible tree is a skill I use on a day to day basis.

Yes, you just need to press a sequence of buttons in the very first balcony on the title screen, then complete a bonus level that is a remake of the first level of the first Prince of Persia 😁

Watching you mercilessly break one of my favorite games leaves me feeling very conflicted because I love your videos.
My dad was the opposite of this, he 100% the game multiple times and at the time it was the third video game he played after donkey kong and pac man. To this day he still quotes ane references it.

I had to run on walls in Tae Kwon Do training. Granted, not as far, long, nor as high as in Prince of Persia, but it is hardly unrealistic.
Yello, just bit of explanation behind why rewind is so busted:
So the game allocates part of memory for "rewind". The game keeps track of inputs + times, and not real game-state (for performance reasons). When you manage to stick actions into each other, you get rewind jump boosts, animations playing multiple times. And then there is ultima-level-breackage... ZIPping... During the times of Yor (when some guys from France as far as I remember found out about the glitch), I kinda nudged around the code and memory execution... with that I've found out how ultimately busted it is. You can sequence your movements (slashing, dagger-stab, movement tech etc.) and then overload the allocated movement with "stutter-step". When you press rewind all the accelerations of the stutter steps get added into your sequence. With additional breaking points for rewind button + any other input changes speed of rewind and all the acceleration calculations.
As for that magical 22... If you use analog input, the number of stutters is actually lower (due to how digital (shorter 4 byte digital vs 8byte analog inputs are stored)
