Wish they can accommodate some of these upgraded features on our existing interceptors. Like the new instrument cluster, the 2:1 exhaust and better rear suspension to name a few.
You can install a 2x1 exhaust on your current interceptor. And you can install aftermarket rear and front suspensions. The videos of which (installation and review) you will see on my TH-cam channel.
Once we have the tubeless wheels, I'll definitely buy a GT650. The USDs and tubeless will be sweet. I'll 100% cut the rear seat and underlying frame and make it a proper single seater. And a 2-in-1 exhaust. Waiting waiting
I loved the 650 twins when they came out and like so many others I have been interested in building one as a scrambler. I wanted more suspension travel but everything else looks good. It is too heavy but all affordable bikes are, it is easier to make a bike strong enough by using thicker steel than it is to use higher grade, thinner steel tubes. But the Bear is what I am interested in and I look forward to test riding one soon. I sold five of my bikes in the past 5 months and now I can afford to buy a Bear, the first new bike I have bought since 1971.
Thank you so much for you comment! I agree with you, all affordable bikes are heavy. I hope you get to test ride it soon, it is a very capable motorcycle! Looking forward to your experience :)
Yea yea...boast about flat footing with that amazing height of yours ...5.7 here and I can't flat foot on my INTY thanks to my less than generous in-seams but just like you, I too am smitten by this. Only if we could get tubeless spokes, that would seal the deal. Parking our 650 behemoths are one thing, dragging them to a puncture shop with a flat...i'm out! As always a commendable job on the vid. Cheers bro!
Thank you so much for watching the video and for commenting! Yes RE will be making this for sure, I am only guessing seeing their track record of giving spoked tubeless tyres in Himalayan 452 and Goan Classic.
Neither of the two.... I wud go for next gen Interceptor.....Or the same interceptor once it comes with Tubeless spoke wheels and good suspensions...... Interceptor will almost do everything Bear does.....
Great summary and review video! Could you please share your thoughts on front suspension of Bear vs modified front suspension of your interceptor. Asking because i have bear on my radar and i am thinking if only rear suspension is upgraded then would it work? I have 2024 xpulse and it has spoiled me for comfort :)
I have improved the front suspension of my interceptor. They are now adjustable for preload, which makes them quite good and the ride very comfortable. The BEAR 650 front suspensions are quite good for comfort I would say.
I took test ride and booked the interceptor black ray. I absolutely agree with the new TFT display, it is functional but doesn't get that classic/premium feeling of the dual pod setup in INT (will live with that faulty fuel meter 🤣). I solved the seat problem by adding premium delux dual touring seat. Waiting for its delivery!!
@praneshs8344 Bear is good in terms of easy to ride, maneuverability. It feels very simple to ride. Handle bar is wider and we have to lean a slight forward. Personally I liked the feel and riding stance of the Interceptor. It gave me a sense of premiumness, I was always a fan of those dual exhausts. So I booked the Interceptor
Being 5.7 and 65kgs...I 11:15 have customised my Interceptor on which I am very confident to move over most of the terrains...nevertheless I am loving the looks and hardware of Bear 650....and I would say again your voice over gives an impression of watching a NATGEO documentary...😊
You can do a lot of mods for improving the comfort, starting with the seat, moving to the handlebar risers, to suspensions. Most of these videos you will find on my channel. Feel free to see them all. Thank you.
@@SrinivasGanesh yeah saw almost all your videos. But u r a big guy I’m just 169cm height. I bought delux touring seats, and changed handlebars to Himalayan once and added meteors handlebar riser. Still it’s not that comfortable for long rides so need to change this setup.. and thinking of adding bear660 footrest setup.
@nidhins6349 first of all I changed the foot pegs with greasehouse custom pegs and pedals..now probably not available...then added handle bar raisers... these two made it quite easy to handle and don't forget to put on a thick sole pair of boots while riding it
I like this one 🙂 I like to see if that fork would go on our 650's and that rear wheel as well.🤔 Just put a two to one exhaust on my 650 it takes some time to used to seeing no pipes on the left side😄 but the sound oohhh..
Sai, I am an Interceptor owner and here is what I feel. I feel for touring and city commuting duties alike, the Himalayan is much better. The suspension and the seats are super comfortable on the Himalayan, the bear is still stiffly sprung and you will feel the jitters on less than ideal roads. Besides the above points, the Himalayan is approx 20 Kgs lesser in weight and that makes a difference. Also, not to forget that the Himalayan now comes with tubeless and the Bear doesn't (yet!). Himalayan has a larger fuel tank so more time between refills. The only downside to the Himalayan (as compared to the Bear) is the smoothness of the 650 twin mill. Its the same reason I keep coming back to my Interceptor. The Himalayan being a single (and a comparatively new) motor has higher NVH levels.
Went for a test ride today and I felt weird using the toe shifter and brakes. I understand RE doesn’t want our feet to touch that hot engine but placing a guard to avoid that actually disturbs the usage. I guess we will get used to it over time with regular usage.
1. Can we use the same yss suspension on bear 650, which ppl buy for interceptor ? 2. Please suggest ways to reduce weight by 10 kgs. Battery change to LiIon, what else ?
I agree with all you observations and agree tha the bear is a nice evolution of the interceptor. But I respectfully disagree with your take on the fact that interceptor is not an off road bike. Yes it not, but, not everyone wants to take a bike off road Srinivas. And not every bike is meant to be taken off road. The interceptor is a retro roadster and does that job very well. It wasnt really meant to be a 'do it all' bike. You wouldnt want or expect to take a bonnie off road (yes i know you can - nothing's stopping you) so why expect off roading abilities form the inty. Two cents.
Haha, dieser Grill wird als „Saari-Schutz“ bezeichnet. Laut Gesetz müssen alle Motorradhersteller das auf der linken Seite des Motorrads anbringen. Spoke my mind. As an owner of an Interceptor 2023, I can attest to your statement. When moving it during parking or reversing you can feel those pounds add up.
It is too heavy for its class, agreed. However, all affordable bikes are, it is easier to make a bike strong enough by using thicker steel than it is to use higher grade, thinner steel tubes as the later increases the production cost which is not what Royal Enfield intends to do. In other words, it is much cheaper and cost effective to join a gym, build leg muscles a stronger core than it is to provide lighter, stronger, cheaper steel frame. 🤣

Well, Scramblers are made for both on-road and off-road use. They've got road lights and also have things like off-road tires and high-mounted exhaust pipes. All of which are there on this bike. :) It might not be a higher end version, but it sure is the most affordable version.

Went for a test ride today. This bike is spot on. My only concern are the tube tyres. I still can’t digest RE had to do this in 2024 end
Seeing their track record I believe a tubeless version will be coming for the 650s by next year.
I wish they replace all the tube tyres to tubeless spokes next year.
