  • Roger takes a look at the SunLite Sun Tunnels by Keylite Roof Windows and shows you how to install them.
    A Keylite SunLite light tube system transports natural daylight into areas where conventional pitched or flat roof windows cannot be used.
    The highly effective light tube enables daylight to travel from the roof to an interior space deprived of natural light.

    Hi Roger thanks for this, I am just looking at 2 of these for an extension project at home, this comes just at the right time. Keep up the good work and the videos on the extension as well.

    Would be cool to see a periscope version of this. Letting light in whilst being able to see the sky.

      You wont see the sky if it is set at an obscurer angle, plus if you could would need some very good shades on

    Need to sort the valleys and lead flashing out too 😂

    These are so clever but could be improved by having a light ring of LED's around the bottom to provide lighting after dark

    Who’s done the roof? It’s a mess the lead around the chimney stack and the pointing in the valley is shocking

      prob in a hidden location like in a valley so the point work is crap

      @SkillBuilder  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought someone would pick up on that and you are right. The lead is the original and still serviceable but not preety. The valley was dry fixed with a bird guard but the customer wanted it pointed up. It was done on a very hot day and kept falling out. It needs a bit of work.

      Skill Builder I'm surprised there isn't such thing as edging for roof tiles . U can get them for slates the cut side is hidden under the lip. Nice video all the same. I learn so much from this man.

      Obviously its historical. I also gather there is no leaks to date so although it looks crap it must be making the trip!

    We’ve just had our roof done and we thinking about installing one of these or another velux how hard would it be on new roof ? Thanks in advance

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a very easy installation because it fits between the rafters. If you put in a roof window you have to double up the rafters on either side.

    What were the cuts too the left of the sun light cut with looks very rough and right hand side water gate should be covered for tidy finish , maybe some red dye in valley cement would be a tidier job
    Yeah as previous comment stated lead round chimney should be hidden under tiles it’s an eye sore
    Big fan of the channel though I know you prob haven’t done the roof !

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can't use soakers on large format tiles, The lead has to lay on top

    • @parkymanutd
      @parkymanutd 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Skill Builder what about a lead valley with an up stand ? Far beater job lead over tiles is an absolute mess and wouldn’t be convinced it’s water right if heavy snow lay on it

    • @parkymanutd
      @parkymanutd 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Skill Builder far neater job**
      Your valley with an upstand on a bit of bit of timber a little shallower than your tile batten so tiles sit over it into the valley a few inches 👍🏽

    Would have liked to see the end result inside, instead of a kinda bad made up 3D scene.

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was hard to do because the camera simply compensates for the extra light. Once it is plastered and painted we will show it

    sunlights are nothing new by idea, poor nation use water filled bottles into the roofs to let light in
