    Not sure if you have done a video on this topic, but could you do a video about how you pack essentials, and prepare meals at each site?

    You need a conversion van. Buy a reliable conversion van. Then convert it to a livable space.

    • @TimothyWard
      @TimothyWard  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't really like vehicles lol, but I have been thinking about it. My main issue is that it's hard to find reliable vehicles to purchase when you are working in out of the way places like national parks lol

    • @kenya9540
      @kenya9540 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      True, but once you find a reliable van. You can make it your own.

    Are you never afraid or worried that you won't find the next job on time (before you run out of money)? How much time do you spend applying for jobs during your time off? In my country you need a real address (not just a post address) to do certain stuff like voting or for mandatory health care insurance. How is that for you?

    It’s pretty amazing. The more and more I watch your videos I want to quit the rat race. I’ve been working at my company for almost 19 years. I switched jobs to make more money and regret it all. Left a lot of fun friends, a more fun position, etc….
    Now I’m thinking I should just get out of the whole race.

    Tim, why not look at doing a 2 year homesteading internship...your background in landscaping would seem a fit...you could live rent free and your youtube income would be pure profit...you could set yourself up to provide all the food, energy ect for a time when you retire...even though your income is low you still likely would (qualify) for enough income; to likely, live well of the grid...

    • @TimothyWard

    Love your videos sir! I have been living in Washington for 8 years or so and Im hopefully going to be spending a couple months on the road and living out of my prius staying on BLM land. seeking some kind of seasonal work for winter. Not sure yet but hopefully something manifests. I did a little seasonal work in idaho between a summer resort and winter resort as a line cook many moons ago. I also bartend but im open to any seasonal work. I hope to travel outside the country as well i have some friends that have family in the Philippines that possibly could put me up. Keep up the work and spread the message! This world is huge and everyone should fly the nest and experience what our existence has to offer.

    I really really really hope you are “stacking your shackles” for the eventual day when the seasonal work isn’t as plentiful for people of of certain physical limitations and/or when it’s retirement age. Somewhere in all of this “ planning” needs to be a strategy for THAT season of your life. Don’t wait! “The Seasons do not and their unforgiving for those who are ill prepared. 🖖🏾🦉

      I'm aware that there will probably come a time in my life where I can't work like I do now, but I'm just not as worried about it as other people lol. When that day comes I'll figure out a way to survive. That being said I do have some things in motion that hopefully will help support me my in later years.

    The U.S. will enter another recession eventually. So, what is your backup plan if the tourism market declines and it becomes harder to secure seasonal gigs due to the lack of demand?
    It appears that you spend all (or almost all) of your money because of your expectation of your next seasonal job. If the coming recession is worse than the last one, then it may be more challenging to secure consistent seasonal gigs.
    Your lifestyle design is cool, but perhaps it would be better to spend $1,000 of your savings between seasonal jobs. Imagine if you were able to save $2,000 from each seasonal job and spend $1,000 in between seasonal jobs. Your savings would increase by $1,000 after every seasonal job.

    • @TimothyWard
      @TimothyWard  6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That thought has been in the back of my mind for awhile now. I definitely believe that we are going to see a recession or even a collapse soon. And the tourism industry will be one of the hardest hit areas. And that will mean very few seasonal jobs. I just have faith that by then I will have figured out some other way to make a living lol.
      As far as the savings go, I tend to exaggerate a little when I talk about being broke going to my next seasonal job. I do save some money after every season.

      Lol 5 years later, we’re in a massive recession and it’s never been easier to get seasonal work. Places are paying $20 an hour now bc they’re desperate for labor.
      Goes to show the “doom and gloom” mindset of the future never ends up being reality.

      Absolutely right. I'm getting ready to start my seasonal job journey and I am getting my passport this month. I wish I would have found out about this sooner. Between things like seasonal work, wwoof, workaway and worldpackers you can travel the world with not as much as you think and even make money while traveling. Who says you have to settle down in one city and work a 9-5 job. While I'm young I want to travel, see the world and meet people and explore different cultures. 🎉@austinrose3421

    Thinking long term...what does the future hold? When you're too old to travel and you would have to live in one place? What does your future look like? I assume that you have retirement saved up already?

  • @MyGoodnessSakes

    How old is "too old" to work in housekeeping? Obviously it depends on a person's physical condition, but generally... are there housekeepers in their 50s and/or 60s? Can they work at their own pace, or is there an expectation that they will keep up with the 20-year-olds?

    • @TimothyWard
      @TimothyWard  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      There are two housekeepers at my current job in there 50's and a few of us in our late 30's/40's. You can work at your own pace but you have to get the same amount of work done as everyone else. I will be honest if you are 40+ and haven't done alot of manual labor then it might be hard to get started housekeeping. It is physically demanding and the hours can be long. But it can be done at any age if you are up to it.

    Have a question for you or anyone here who might know. I like the idea of seasonal work, my question is when you apply do you fill out a W2? Want to know since people that are on social security disability and not yet on retirement have to watch how much us earned and how many hours worked per week. Thanks😉

    • @TimothyWard
      @TimothyWard  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, it's just like any other regular job you have to fill out all the same tax forms.

    With your jobs being everywhere, where would a seasonal worker get their w2 to do taxes and do you get time to do your taxes? Also since you have no real address, how do you handle voter registration of election years.
    A problem I run into on youtube searches is that multiple timothy wards will pop up, but youre the one to watch and learn from that I want.

    • @TimothyWard
      @TimothyWard  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My employers either mail my W2s to me or they give me a link to download them online. I do my taxes pretty much the same as always with like Turbotax. The only difference is that now sometimes I have to file in a couple different states but it's super easy. And I usually get most of my state tax back.

    • @smartypants1980
